Dragon Box disc quality.

My Dragon Box 4 finally arrived today, ordered it fresh (new) off Amazon. I always do a disc check every time I pick up a new set, and I was a bit disconcerted with the appearance of the first and second discs.

They appear to have a sort of "ring" around the edges. It's definitely not a smudge or a scratch, but this part of the disc is lighter in color than the rest inwards. It seems to be just a natural anomaly or something that was done when the data was put onto it. I get paranoid about my discs not being able to read, so I just wanted to get an opinion or see if anybody else has seen this phenomenon?

I would just pop it in, but I'm still working my way through the first Box and would prefer not to watch anything out of order.

If I am understanding you, I believe that the ring you refer you is the portion of the disc that hasn't had anything burned onto it. It should be fine.

That could be it. It's probably either that or an issue with their burner switching speeds. It's definitely not packaging damage.

I just hope it's watchable.

Retail (mass produced) DVDs aren't burned, so that shouldn't be the reason.

Whatever the reason is, I have bought a lot of DVDs that have that and they have always played just fine. I think you'll be okay.

Banzai! I popped the worse-looking disc in last night and played the first and last episode without incident. I figure if those work fine, the middle bunch should also.

See, for me, when I get a crappy disc it always works for some reason, and when I get a disc that looks like it probably will play fine it has skipping etc.


Though none of my Dragon Box discs have ever had any problems. (I remember when people were first getting their D-Boxes and someones disc book was completely cracked, I would have freaked if I saw that )
