I'm sorry, but nothing Linda could have done would have made her anywhere near as perfect of a fit for the part as Ayres.

The new Kai voice sounds just like LittleKuriboh's Freeza voice in DBZ Abridged... Very interesting....

Yeah, I've noticed that. It's also one of the few examples of a parody voice overriding a dub voice (the old Z dub, I mean).

There's a slight similarity, but Ayres is far different in delivery.

He's never done a full-blown HOHOHO, but he has done a Nakao light chuckle from time to time.

Go to 0:28, and bump up your volume. Actually, watch the entire thing, as it's pure awesomeness.

I think the Japanese OHOHOHO style laugh isn't something that an English voice actor can do without it sounding really, really silly. Even in Japanese it seems rather hokey to me, but I kind of accept it as a cultural thing.

Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed the similarities between Abridged Frieza and Ayres. :D

I enjoyed this new voice actor and if the Dragon Ball Anime Series Makes a Comeback, (I want my DBZ 2.0 that's not old footage like Kai, dammit) I hope Ayres gets a role in a dub. That's just my opinion though.
GT isn't bad, just sucks ass in comparison to the other 2 animes.

It really is such a cultural thing when it comes to voice acting in Japan. To me, the "OHOHO" laugh is right up there with the "kkhhkhh" struggle noise and the "beeee" sound whenever a character sticks his tongue out. I guess there are just some things other than dialogue that don't always translate well.
