Z Fighters in DBZ: Movie 8, their Cell Games Counterparts?
Sorry about all the Broly-Related threads recently. I know how much you hate the guy (Roar! Stomp, stomp! Bleurgh!). Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think about this. Are these Z Fighters, Goku and Gohan from the ROSAT, Vegeta and Trunks from getting their arses beat by Cell and Piccolo standing on the Lookout grunting, or are these the guys from the Cell Games. A couple of things to take into account would be Gohan's height (he seems kinda tall here) and the way Goku and Gohan are acting as Super Saiyans.
Re: Z Fighters in DBZ: Movie 8, their Cell Games Counterpart
I wouldn't say so. I'd say the characters are all more plucked out from sometime earlier in the "Cell arc" for a few notable reasons:
- Trunks and Vegeta appear to be using Super Saiyan Grade 2, which they had abandoned by the Cell Games.
- Gohan has Super Saiyan but is not yet stronger than Goku.
- All the Super Saiyan heroes seem to be more or less on the same level. Even Piccolo is able to keep up relatively well.
- Trunks and Vegeta appear to be using Super Saiyan Grade 2, which they had abandoned by the Cell Games.
- Gohan has Super Saiyan but is not yet stronger than Goku.

Plus, Goku and Gohan aren't using SSj as their natural state... not that it means they are weaker, I just thought it was worth noting.

I think it's safe to say that the crying, whiny bitch that is movie #8 Vegeta is taken from no where in the series.
Re: Z Fighters in DBZ: Movie 8, their Cell Games Counterpart
Vegeta vs. Final Form Freeza perhaps?violadude wrote:I think it's safe to say that the crying, whiny bitch that is movie #8 Vegeta is taken from no where in the series.
Re: Z Fighters in DBZ: Movie 8, their Cell Games Counterpart
I guess so, ya. But at least with Freeza he tried before he decided to break down.
Re: Z Fighters in DBZ: Movie 8, their Cell Games Counterpart
Well Vegeta did actually try something against Broli, before Broli turned into the Legendary Super Saiyan, but Vegeta couldn't do anything to even the restricted SSJ form of Broli.violadude wrote:I guess so, ya. But at least with Freeza he tried before he decided to break down.

Looks to me like one could interpret something other than that.Kaboom wrote:- Trunks and Vegeta appear to be using Super Saiyan Grade 2, which they had abandoned by the Cell Games..

He looks like he's in some kind of funky in-between state to me.

You have no idea how hard I laughed when I scrolled down and the image of Vegeta yelling ASSWIPES popped up. Would've laughed even harder had I not been at work.
This and coupled with the fact that he most likely grew up with the notion that the legendary SSJ is the strongest most powerfull saiyan in all saiyan history .
Persoanlly I think it's right in tune with his personality at that time. Vegeta tends to break down in one form or another when faced with something that his power (we all know how highly he thinks of himself and his power) can't match.violadude wrote:I think it's safe to say that the crying, whiny bitch that is movie #8 Vegeta is taken from no where in the series.

I think they are, in movie 8. Didn't Trunks's jacket rip off as he powered up?

^Oh no....that's just standard procedure. Comes with crazy epic hair, cause Toriyama is awesome like that.

As if Freeza came back with a vengeance.
But it's Vegeta in a nutshell.violadude wrote:I think it's safe to say that the crying, whiny bitch that is movie #8 Vegeta is taken from no where in the series.

Re: Z Fighters in DBZ: Movie 8, their Cell Games Counterpart
No doubt about it, the two weren't using the 'Grades' forms anymore by the time the Cell Games rolled around. That shot of Vegeta, honestly, does not like he's bulky. Rather, he just looks short(er than usual), mostly due to the odd, quasi-bird's-eye perspective on him. But the auras and the lack of bulging muscles are a sure sign that they're not using anything beyond normal Super Saiyan.
As for movie 8, it's really hard to tell. The auras aren't reliable (they look no different from Goku's, Gohan's, and for the most part even Broly's). But they do look quite bulkier than the other two. There's not much to go on, but that combined with the comparison of appearance and power with Goku and Gohan, is enough to stand by for a "pre-Cell Games" placement of the movie.
If we were to assign a "What If" for the film's setting, then I think it'd be if Vegeta or Trunks had killed Cell before he became complete. Hence no Cell around, Goku and Gohan leave the Room of Spirit and Time somewhat earlier, and most importantly, the world is not completely shut down in a total panic since the Cell Games were never even announced.

...So? That means nothing, that's just for coolness effect. (I can't remember the better word for it)Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:I think they are, in movie 8. Didn't Trunks's jacket rip off as he powered up?
And, in Movie #8, I think I remember thinking that Vegeta was a Super Saiyan Grade 2, but not Trunks, for some reason. I don't remember him being that bulky. But I haven't watched it in ages, so whatever.
