Not this time. I don't think he is either. Base Vegetto is on a whole different level of his own (the story kind of requires it any way you slice it), but Gotenks doesn't need be too much stronger than any of the other base Saiyans.

Ultimately, the only worthwhile measurement of Gotenks' strength is that he can put up a fight against Super Boo with Super Saiyan 3 whereas Goku supposedly can't.

Actually, I agree with that too. I mean, he didn't actually accomplish anything, and was thrown around most of the time. (Even though Piccolo thinking that Gotenks can't transform while already fused and his "this might actually work" line says otherwise).

Kuririn/Yamcha/Piccolo and Gotenks himself all imply Base Gotenks Pre/Post, are not that weak.

I feel that many posters are subject to thinking that Base Power belongs with Base powers, and SSJ belongs with SSJ. Often you will hear a guy say, well he was a Super Saiyan, as if that means a certain level of power for everyone. Sure, their are broad ranges of powers, but to think that a Base power couldn't be SSJ2/SSJ3 tier, just because it's base, is not being unbiased, and is something that's not suggested by the manga/anime at all...

Freeza > Vegetto is as bad as a nerfing job as I have ever heard, it seems that a lot of you guys do not realize the plausibility of Base Saiyan strength's capabilities at all, and have used personal opinion, and the need to make Freeza somewhat relevant , and misconstrued a lot of stuff...

Not everyone has to accept Base Saiyan implied strength, but we should be able to see it's plausibility, and Freeza > Base Vegetto is a huge , huge nerfing job, the biggest I have ever seen...

I don't know man. This forum is notorious for Base Power Nerfing. Hell, I would think you guys would even try to deny the simple facts that Base Goku >= Pikkon Weights, and Pikkon Weights is able to one shot both King Cold and Freeza.

Which would mean Base Goku is way superior to Freeza and King Cold post Cell Games... Freeza > Base Vegetto is just unreasonable don't you think?

Having been a powerlevel nerd and an avid powerlevel debater on several Dragonball forums before, I could say that the reason that I like Daizex is that they have more realistic base powerlevels in comparison to other forums.

And in response to your Paikuhan argument; I for one don't take him into consideration when making up base powerlevels (since my reference is the manga, not the anime). If I were to take the anime into consideration, then yes, I'd have to put the Saiya-jins much higher than Freeza.

Other than that, I'd stay in the Vegetto in base is stronger than Freeza camp, since:
1) Vegetto is a fusion of two characters who are much, much stronger than Goten and Trunks in their base form
2) Potara fusion seems to work more efficiently than the fusion dance
3) After having Gotenks as a reference on how strong Vegetto would become, everyone were shocked to see that Vegetto was indeed much stronger than they anticipated. This was explained by Rou Kaioshin with a "rivalry boost", which made Vegetto even stronger.

Also, Buu's strength now included Gohan's as well, leading to Super Saiya-jin Vegetto having to be at least twice as strong as Super Saiya-jin 3 Gotenks. Since Gohan and Super Buu were near the same power range, (yeah, I know Gohan kicked Buu's ass) leaving an even more huge increase in base power for Vegetto's part. But lets keep it at Super Saiya-jin Vegetto being 2x Super Saiya-jin 3 Gotenks' power.

So, now some imaginary numbers come in (just to show an example):

Gohan: 1200
Super Buu: 1000
Super Saiya-jin 3 Gotenks: 1000
Gohan Buu: 2200
Super Saiya-jin Vegetto: 2200 (at least)

If we use the SEG's numbers (which I agree on), we will have to convert Vegetto and Gotenks' powers into to their base power like this:

Vegetto (base): 2200/50 = 44
Gotenks (base): 1000/400 = 2,5

This leaves Vegetto's base power as 17,5x greater than Gotenks' base power (minimum).
This is just an example to show why I think that Vegetto's base power is much greater than Gotenks'.

And then we also have the effect of the fusion and formulas, but I don't give much thought to that. I just know that by the manga and my estimations, Vegetto is much stronger than Gotenks, and would in every case have a much, much stronger base than Gotenks.

I think one could make a good case for base Gotenks being ridiculously strong and by extension Vegetto as well.
All you have to do is look at Piccolo's quote before Gotenks takes off to fight Buu. Piccolo doesn't say that he's weak as fuck, but rather that even though he is at that level, it still won't be enough.

But anyways, I personally don't see Vegetto even in base being weaker than SSJ 3 Goku because I go by the anime filler where Vegetto rivals Buu without transforming and I don't see it making much sense, when I think about how Fusion/Merging works, but that's just me.

Also here's some numbers, based on the assumption that Vegetto in base didn't surpass Freeza:

At most he is:

Vegetto: 120
- SSJ: 6,000

So let's go backwards from here..

The first definite power statement we have that uses numbers after the Freeza Arc is Goku at ½ power surpassing USSJ Vegeta.

The absolute minimum is what I'm using here.

So FPSSJ Goku is at the very least way above 300.
SSJ 2 Gohan is way above 600.
SSJ 3 Goku is way above 2,400.
Evil Buu is way above that.
Evil Buu with Gohan absorbed is way above 4,800.

So if you take Strength to be the same as Battle Power, you'll probably have some very tight spacing, if you want it to fit in.

It's quite possible for Base Vegeta/Goku during the Saiyan Saga to perhaps surpass Freeza. Who really knows how strong Potara Fusion is? The guides say Vegeta x Goku, so if we do a 2 million x 3million, we have already far surpassed Freeza's power, going by the guides of course...

So, it's pretty unrealistic that when your own guides that your follow, contradict you. I just don't see the logic behind it. Daizex is far beyond the curve in realization of base power IMO...

*Goku was suppressing throughout the Badibi Saga and suppressing to a level on par with Vegeta... It is only when Goku does his burst, which I feel equals Vegeta, does Vegeta realize he is inferior. Not because of the power of the burst IMO, but the rate of increase Goku reaches for a simple burst. Goku's burst = Vegeta's SSJ2, even though full power >> a burst , so that's how Vegeta catches on. Logically, Goku must have been holding back in Base/SSJ previously, or else Vegeta would have caught wind of the gap between he and Goku earlier...
