They don't usually change usernames on a user's whim here. I think that you'll have to stick with it.
I don't think that your username is bad, why change it?

Yeah, EX doesn't do name changes for reasons I don't remember. If he does change his mind though I'd like to change my username too...

It's pretty easy to slap a line into your signature that says "I used to be this person!", which combined with having the same avatar and join date should be enough for people to realize this is not a new person who somehow went unnoticed to you up until now even though they have hundreds of posts.

Any time one person asks, I get a slew of requests from other people asking for the same thing. On the rare occasion I've done it, some of these said people refused to keep the same avatar and a signature note about the change.

If you don't like the name you're using, you shouldn't have registered with it in the first place.
