Toei Officially Acknowledges Yamamoto's Kai Rip-Offs

Just thought of something: does this mean we'll get Spirit VS. Spirit back for Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation?

I expected that as well, but the answer is no. According to a person on 2ch who watched the replaced-music version of episode 92, they put M817 there. What a bad choice.

I don't get why Yamamoto is being blamed here though. It's so common for this to be done that it's often allowed. Toei's being real sticks in the mud here. That could just be his style; inspiration goes a long way when it comes to creation. See the Japanese Sonic CD soundtrack and how much 80's-90's tunes that "ripped-off." That Yamamoto "Dragon Ball'd" these themes and made them work says something. But that's just my opinion.

Yamamoto did some interesting things with those compositions, and I'm sure he didn't mean any harm or think he was getting away with anything immoral.

I'm on the fence. The Super Saiyan 2 choice really left a bitter taste in my mouth, though I suppose I need to see more before I form an educated opinion.

Though either way, Kikuchi's score is also going to clash severely with Kai's insert songs if they're keeping them intact...

All of Yamamoto's music is being replaced with Kikuchi's music. Also, Toei updated their site listing only Kikuchi as the composer.

I haven't been here for a while XD and what's the most shocking news for Kai!!? OwO Yamamoto Is Fired! LOL If kikuchi is really the composer, and he writes new music, WELCOME BACK KIKUCHI! if they are re-using old score..... that seriusly BAD, do they really give a heck about Db anymore? I mean, they coulda fired yamamoto and search a better composer say halfway through the series.... but No T.T if old kikuchi score replaces some of the brilliance of Yamamoto I hope they atleast use the best tracks. In Kai... everything Fails, New music? Fans Hate it, New Dub? Dubies Hate and Hardcore japanese fans only think it's acceptable, They took out filler? People find it rushed, The slighest thing they do to Kai, The more people Rant on it, I Love Kai, just love it, I know it's not perfect and not only that, I now think Kai's the biggest fail in dragon ball history, It lacks support from Fans and effort from Toei, Those 2 things have destroyed it in japan. When the team fails at picking music, or editing the scenes, fans are ready to discover every flaw, and of course I read toei recieved many letters of rage about the music, the plagiarism, and now, when nobody gives a heck about it in japan, they finally want please the fans and not only that, they finally want to do "justice" to a most common practice in japan! even nobuo uematsu has made some copying >:( why not please the fans from the beggining? Toei Animation is like the dumbest animation studio ever, their just lucky to lay their hands in dragon ball and one piece, Of course I give to them sometimes they do it right.

Ho. Ly. CRAP. I leave Daizex for a while and then come back to this bombshell! I guess I can no longer call myself a "major Kikuchi fan" if I was not able to spot the plagiarism to begin with.

I'll be honest, I'm on the fence about it myself. I've written several times saying that I prefer Kikuchi's score, but Kikuchi's score was written with Z in mind, not Kai. I wonder what this means for future releases, especially in foreign territories? Will they demand that FUNimation re-release Kai with Kikuchi's score (thereby making the original Kai releases something of a collector's item)? Will other foreign dubs never even hear the Kai score? Ho boy...this is going to be very, very, very interesting.
