Manga creator Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball , Dr. Slump) posted the above message of support for the victims of the March 11 earthquake (Tōhoku Chihō Taiheiyō-oki Jishin) and tsunami.
I can't read Japanese, so I don't know what it says. Maybe one of our versed forum members can help.

1 Corinthians 13: When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Except the anime. Never the anime.

It says "Hang in there!!" in the word balloon.
In the lower left:
"To everyone who's a victim,
It may be really bad, but please, don't you be defeated. Hang in there!
-Akira Toriyama"

So if one were to pronounce it, it is "Gambare yo" or something?
Like what Vegeta said to Kakarot in his monolouge about the differences between the two?

It's "ganbarē!!". Ordinarily, the word is "ganbare" (imperative form of "ganbaru"). The elongated "
e" and small "
tsu" kana at the end are for emphasis.

Toriyama just seems to generally be a good guy, and maybe that's why I like him and his work so much.

That is really considerate of Toriyama to draw that. It's so adorable.

Agreed, he seems very humble and I like that quality in famous people. This is a nice gesture.

That's just awesome. It's such a great image with a positive message. I love it!
That looks great! I'm not too fond of the gray but I wanted to make this image a wallpaper too. Did you edit that yourself?

On the
Shonen Jump site, they made wallpapers with different colours for the art.

Thanks. The Shonen Jump site is blocked at my work computer, but I'll take your word for it!

Hahaha thanks for the effort, but anything associated with that site would be blocked too. Half the time I can't see images people post on these boards because they get the image from a site that's blocked on my computer. I would check it at home, but I recently moved to a new place so I have no internet. Thanks again for though!

Yeah, I just used a color replacement tool.

Nice to see Toriyama giving his support to the victims of the earthquake. What a nice guy.
