Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
What do you guys think are the chances of FUNi or even Toei re-releasing Dragonball Kai with the Kikuchi score?
I can see FUNi doing it because it would be another reason for them to re-release it.
Thoughts?

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
It would be interesting if Funimation continues to release it with the Yamamoto score and Toei releases with Kikuchi's and fans of Yamamoto's score in Japan have to reverse-import.

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
I believe FUNimation has been giving us hints that they will eventually recall the DVDs and re-release Kai using Kikuchi's score.
- Today's Toonzai episodes contained the Kikuichi score
- Kai's schedule on Nicktoons has been messed up lately
- Kai Part 5 has been delayed until June
So, I imagine that FUNimation will probably do the same as Toei and apply the BGM change to the English dub. If they used the Kikuchi score Part 5, onwards, then Kai would be inconsistent and, once again, we would have an imperfect release. I believe that if FUNimation does decide to change the BGM, then they should also change the previous DVDs' BGM as well, for the sake of consistency.

Well, I checked every Best Buy in my area, and all were sold out of Part 4 rather quick except for one, that had two copies. I assumed this to be the sign that I was going to miss out on Part 4 with Yamamoto. If they do a release of Kai with the Kikuchi score, I'll make those the Blu Rays, since I got the Yamamoto score in DVD. Easier to tell apart.

Well, Best Buy isn't very reliable with anime releases anyway. Most of the Best Buy stores I go to never have what I'm looking for, some of the time being a Kai release. Anime Blu-rays aren't even sold there (or at least the ones in my area). For those, you have to buy them online or another store that sells them. That is a good idea, though, I may do that too for Parts 1-3.Mewzard wrote:Well, I checked every Best Buy in my area, and all were sold out of Part 4 rather quick except for one, that had two copies. Never had quite this problem with DB here, though. DB always had lots of products on shelf, and they usually kept them stocked when things started to sell out. Maybe I was being paranoid, but I didn't want to risk it.GotenDaisuki wrote:Well, Best Buy isn't very reliable with anime releases anyway. Most of the time it was a Dragon Box I was looking for, and they almost never have those in stock. They are pretty good with Kai being in stock. The most DB products I've seen there are the Orange Bricks. I see too many of those every time I visit a Best Buy. And, in my opinion, it would be better to nab 'em off eBay or Amazon while you still can (at least for the Yamamoto volumes).Mewzard wrote:Never had quite this problem with DB here, though. Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
I'm so glad to have got the first three parts atleast with Yamamoto's score atleast.
I think FUNi should bring back Falconer for a new score. They abandoned him just before GT which left us with a terrible score for the serie so I'd like to hear him compose music for the english dub the franchise again. That would be awesome
I will buy the remainder of Kai regardless but without the new score the mood has very little differation to what we have with the Dragon Boxes.

"I think FUNi should bring back Falconer for a new score."
Sorry. I don't think they'll bring him back considering the fact that FUNI flat out admitted that they didn't like his score.

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
Well added? The fact that even the Hulu stream for DBZ used Kikuchi's score? Faulconer is never coming back, neither is his score, outside of being a 2nd English audio option on the Orange Bricks? Kikuchi is the preferred preference now. (At least by the company).

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
I really hope this doesn't affect the US release. I mean I'm not too crazy about Yamamoto's score but, it's Kai's music, it was made for this refreshed version. I also feel like they're gonna randomly place Kikuchi pieces in Kai just for the sake of having music in a scene without any real consideration for feeling.
Edit: Ugh! I guess my hope dies with this confirmation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH3UbQ07jSQ

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
Not sure if this has been brought up much, but FUNimation announced price drops for all their existing Kai sets just a week before the big Yamamoto scandal got out. Coincidence? Or were they preparing for it?
Lower prices would be a good way to get rid of the existing stock of the Yamamoto versions, and to make re-releases less painful to consumers if they're not doing recalls.

FUNimation probably wasn't aware of the plagiarism on Yamamoto's BGM at the time. It is probably just a coincidence.TripleRach wrote:Not sure if this has been brought up much, but FUNimation announced price drops for all their existing Kai sets just a week before the big Yamamoto scandal got out. Yeah apparantly volume 5 was gonna have a lower price, so they dropped the prices of the other 4 to match.
Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
On the other hand, a hypothetical Buu arc would be even cheaper to produce now without the cost of new music.

Even the entire cast says they want it to continue. But, for now, at least, it's not going to happen.gmster wrote:On the other hand, a hypothetical Buu arc would be even cheaper to produce now without the cost of new music.

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
Just curious, how many people here who own the first 4 Kai sets from Funi would repurchase those sets for the Kikuchi score version?
Personally, I wouldn't. I guess I just don't really care much for Kikuchi's score. Then again, I'd rebuy the whole Kai series if they included the Faulconer score (with many of the same tracks, but arranged better, i.e. with silence and getting rid of the silly, nonsense tracks that plagued it during the Cell and Buu arcs).

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
I own the first four, but I'm kinda confused to be honest. I just bought all 4 sets within the last week or so, before the news got out. I'm just gonna buy whatever Kai comes out now I suppose. I was wondering though, would the cover styles be the same if Funi released Kai with the different score?xzero wrote:Just curious, how many people here who own the first 4 Kai sets from Funi would repurchase those sets for the Kikuchi score version?

Re: Re-Release w/Kikuchi Score (Speculation)
I also already have the first 4 sets, and I don't plan on buying them again just because of the music. In all honesty I just want to watch the Artificial Human saga dubbed with an accurate script and no filler, I don't care who's music is in it - whether it be Kikuchi, Yamamoto, or Faulconer.xzero wrote:Just curious, how many people here who own the first 4 Kai sets from Funi would repurchase those sets for the Kikuchi score version?

Can someone post a video of how Kai is now, Due to the score change?
