The question now is when will the recall and re-release begin, if it does occur?Gaffer Tape wrote:Assuming a re-release happens, it certainly won't be impossible to own both versions of the sets that have already been released.Gotham22 wrote:that will be impossible to own both versions.

I'm pretty sure posting that kind of thing here is against the rules.

You may want to read over the forum rules. Specifically #1 and #6.cloud1414 wrote:Oh, sorry, I didn't know.

Unfortunately the sets with Yamamoto's score will be incomplete.Gaffer Tape wrote:Assuming a re-release happens, it certainly won't be impossible to own both versions of the sets that have already been released.Gotham22 wrote:that will be impossible to own both versions.

Yeah, while eventually we'll probably see a full Kikuchi Kai release, Yamamoto Kai will be limited to half the series (2/3 in Japan) with the remaining episodes being unobtainable outside of first run TV recordings. It's an unfortunate situation all around, I think. Particularly since now the last three episodes will forever be "out of place" given they never ran with Yamamoto.

Yes, for the first time ever, the Japanese releases will be imperfect and inconsistent... unless you count the Dragon Boxes and their sound problems.TonyTheTiger wrote:Yeah, while eventually we'll probably see a full Kikuchi Kai release, Yamamoto Kai will be limited to half the series (2/3 in Japan) with the remaining episodes being unobtainable outside of first run TV recordings. Re: Toei Officially Acknowledges Yamamoto's Kai Rip-Offs
I'm still wondering if I should buy Part 4 off Amazon. I'm beginning to wonder whether Part 4 will still have Kenji Yamamoto when it makes its way to Aus in May and NZ in June. I would also be able to keep consistency in my collection as I already have Parts 2 and 3 on Blu-Ray (I have Part 1 on DVD but that doesn't bother me because it's only the start of the series and not in between). I have emailed Madman, but they won't be able to reply tilll April 4th so I'm wondering whether I should risk waiting, but if I don't buy it now, I may never be able to hunt don the set with Kenji.
Help someone??!! I can't decide!

I wish they only removed the rip-off themes and not the whole score. IMO a perfect mix of Yamamoto and Kikuchi scores woulda been awesome. Perhaps a shot to put 'spirit vs spirit' back in when Gohan turns Super Saiyan 2.
Re: Toei Officially Acknowledges Yamamoto's Kai Rip-Offs
I wish and hope FUNimation does that. Work around the rip-offs in Yamamoto's score and not use Kikuchi's score.

Well, the problem is that for all they know, the whole score could be plagiarized (aside from the variations of the theme songs, of course), so they can't use any of it without potential lawsuits to worry about.Coola Yagami wrote:I wish they only removed the rip-off themes and not the whole score.

Was it wall-to-wall music again? That's the big problem.kei17 wrote:Episode 89 with Kikuchi's score aired in Okinawa today.

Re: Toei Officially Acknowledges Yamamoto's Kai Rip-Offs
I just remembered something that is interesting: One day I was watching a rerun of the Kai dub on Nicktoons, and my grandpa is in the room with me. A certain track starts playing, and he says "That's *such an such composer I haven't heard of*'s *such and such symphony*." I believe it was a Saiyan arc episode, so that should narrow down the song. Anybody know more about this?

Caught the first few minutes of Episode 1 of Kai on Nicktoons earlier tonight. They're still playing the Yamamoto score.

I just caught the last 10 minutes or so of episode 2. Yeah, still Yamamoto's stuff. This may take a while.
