Dragon Ball Z Kai Combo Packs for 30 bucks

Post by ohaimynameiserik » Sat Mar 26, 2011 2:45 am

While on the job at Walmart today, I did a double take to see these bad boys.

These (while sending me into a rage seeing as I just bought part 4 by itself for $30) are a great value and will probably be phasing out the old packages.

EDIT: These sets offer nothing exclusive from the original releases of parts 1-4, aside from the new packaging. They still have the Yamamoto score intact.

Do they have those packs on Blu-ray?

Do these sets still have the Yamamoto score? Or do they have the new replaced Kikuchi score?

If anyone here has purchased one so far, do speak up! If it has Kikuchi, I would very much like to buy them.
Don't count on it. Walmart generally gets combo packs exclusively, mainly to save room when dealing with TV shows with a lot of releases. Plus there's no listing for them on Amazon or RightStuf, so it's safe to assume it's definitely just a Walmart exclusive.

Also, they seem to be the cheapest place to buy them online: http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng ... nstraint=0

Wow, that is a good deal! At Best Buy, one "Part" is at least $40, so two "Parts" for $30 seems like an amazing deal.
So mondo lame.

That is a pretty good deal and all, but that spine art on the Part 3&4 box clashes so bad with Goku and Freeza.

I still plan on holding out for a release with the Kikuchi score, but this is nice for people who want the show now.

Yeah... damn, that's cool and all but shit! The colors man, the colors on the 2nd Set! DO NOT MESH.
The 1st one looks...okay, would've preferred the Orange for it.

If they do this for Blu Ray, I'll pick them up for the Yamamoto score.

Just so, 10 years down the road, I can say "Kai used to have this funky music for a lil bit".

Then again, maybe they have the Kikuchi score already?

If anyone's interested in how the packaging is, each one is basically one large cardboard case holding the four individual thinpacks.

So Kai is at Walmart again... I bought Part 1 on Blu-Ray there, but I couldn't find the next three there, and any listings for Kai online they had were gone... It's great to hear its back. Maybe for this cheap I'll buy those so I can watch Kai uncensored in my bedroom (because we only got a Blu-Ray player in the living room...)

Yeah, that's most definitely their exclusive bundles. They also have a method of releasing bundled thin packs from portions of various sets, labeling them as parts of a season release (seen it done with Futurama and South Park).

So far, it's just DVD-only. They don't have anything beyond the normal Blu-rays in their system.

Yeah, same for me.
It kinda pissed me off because it was cheap.

There's definitely a chance they have the Kikuchi score, because I work there and check out the DVDs all the time and they were JUST NOW available this week.

Well since I bought the Blu-Rays early at Hasting`s, the first few copies get like 5 bucks off their normal price (which would be 40 dollars, so I get then for 35). But still, this seems like a great deal if I ever wanted the DVD versions.

As far as I know, it's not available on Blu-Ray.

Another minor thing I'd like to add is that the cases on the discs, rather than reading "1-2" for each part, now are labeled "1-8" for each case throughout the 4 parts.

I think this release can't have the Kikuchi score because it is impossible to replace the whole score this soon.

Well it's not impossible, but knowing FUNi it would be surprising if it was changed.
