It's pretty good. It has a mysterious vibe in the beginning. Then at the end, it's all dramatic.

How about M1623, my favorite musical piece in Movie 9:

I'm really a fan of the original GT score due to the upbeat and generally lighthearted nature of it and I think that really shows in these two pieces

"Goku and Pan" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoNM4Jxz ... re=related

"Pan's Theme" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNo7VlH8 ... re=related

Nice little lighthearted variation of DAN DAN Kokoro Hikarete'ku.
This one was covered already.

By the way, I hate to play mini-mod, but you're supposed to give your opinion on the piece of music given in the previous post before you put up the next one.

Afterwards, here's a shorty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EPk-zrI ... age#t=119s

Definitely portends an air of menace, although like many of Kikuchi's pieces, the music sounds somewhat dated. I seem to recall this piece being used in the Android Saga.

Kenji Yamamoto - Elevat--err, Yuga no Hirusagari

Addendum: I actually adore elevator music.

Sounds more like something I'd associate with a trip to the shopping mall. I have no idea why, but I just love that piece.

Next up, An Isolated Warrior, also by Kenji Yamamoto.

Wow any second I'm gonna hear Joe Elliott start singing. Some of the MIDI is a bit cheesy sounding, then it's like total 80s hair metal, but horns coming. The rapid juxtaposition of styles has me reeling...I can't decided if I like it or not. It certainly makes a strong statement. Like the dissonances in the brass. I think I'd need to listen to this like 4 more times to find out if it grows on me or just starts to annoy me...one of those things. But well written, with some definite personality and energy. Just haven't decided if it fits my taste or not.

Next up, one of the few Japanese pieces I was familiar with back in the day:

Ahhhhh, the 'Return My Gohan' soundtrack. Classic stuff, probably the most iconic pieces of Dragon Ball music.

Next up, from Kenji Yamamoto:

Love that theme, especially when it was used for when Freeza arrives after the Dragon Balls have been used, suited it perfectly.

Frieza's Theme - Bruce Faulconer

I love this one, can't picture Frieza without it. I actually suspect Bruce did this one all himself, but am not sure.

Incidentally Frieza's main motif is the Jaws theme backwards. Dunno if anyone (including the composer) ever released that.

Hikari No Willpower. I love that song. Trunks gets the coolest music.

Next: M-819A.

A great piece of BGM. It gives you the feel that the battle is over and the world is finally at peace.

That does not only sound brave but also has lonely and sorrowful feelings in it. One of the tracks that never sound out of date.

Okay, here's my choice: M1008

It has this grand, powerful force to it that I really like, but also feels like it's revealing something or is the ending of some great movement or event. It's a great piece.

The following is my favorite DBZ movie suite, the one for movie #9: Ginga Giri Giri! Butchi Giri Sugoi!

Probably my favorite of Kikuchi's work.

He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

There are some BGM I really like in Movie 9, but perhaps my favorite one of all is M1623 (AKA Gohan goes Super Saiyan 2). It represents a character with a kind heart who has been pushed too far.

This BGM, M1307, is my favorite battle BGM of all time.

Heck, yes. Awesome fight music. :D Can't imagine Piccolo, Kuririn, and Gohan beating up Coola's robot army or Trunks and Kuririn destroying Dr. Gero's lab basement, among other moments, without it.

Next up, here's a nice short piece: M-907.

Surprisingly, pieces 906-907 do not exhibit as much of a dated sound as many of Kikuchi's other pieces. Shocking; I actually somewhat enjoy it.

Faulconer Productions - Droids vs. Bikers
Yep, this music encapsulates everything that DBZ is all about.

Despite what Iv'e read other people say in the past, I love this track. Scott's guitar work is just badass imo! XD Those Bikers had no idea who they were messing with. o.o

It sounds very tranquil, and I don't have any real problem with it, except that doesn't really sound like it fits the show.

Here's another piece of Faulconer music that isn't so bad on its own, but just isn't DBZ: Heroic Trunks Theme

It was used in an unforgettable commercial promoting Trunks. Really does have that "heroic" feeling. I can never get tired of hearing it.

A one-shot, unique arrangement of the Buu theme that left an indelible imprint on me upon first hearing it. It was a truly magnificent, bittersweet rendition. It deserves a full piano suite if you ask me.
Despite what Iv'e read other people say in the past, I love this track. Scott's guitar work is just badass imo! XD Those Bikers had no idea who they were messing with. o.o
I personally love it. I was just allowing myself a bit of facetiousness with regard to the puritan opinion that DBZ should have a specific intransigent "sound".
