Oops, epic fail in rushed typing LOLRocketman wrote:It has been found. The wrongest sentence.AoiKageNoChikara wrote:She voices every male in Goku's family, who else could do that without out sounding the same?
In any case, they'd find a new actor, part of the fanbase would cry for a week and refuse to ever accept it while another part would live with it and perhaps even enjoy it.

What I was trying to say was that, Masako-san voices every male in goku's family, but she manages to make a diference in every voice, when gohan's talking, you know it's gohan, when Goku's talking you know it's goku, when goten speaks, you know it's goten, who else could voices these characters with so much charisma?

It will be truly sad to see such an amazing person and also a voice that touched so many of us go.
They might re-cast every (or most) of her roles separatly and try to make it as close to the character and the voice as they possibly can.
Like Tenshinhan and Mr.Satan, it will never be the same. (I'm not saying it will be bad or that those two replacements were bad, just not the same)

But Goku said to Raditz "I ain't got any brothers!"
Therefore, is Raditz really family?

Yes, he is. Raditz is the the first child of Bardock, therefore he's Goku's older brother. Whether Goku likes it or not.Vernichter wrote:But Goku said to Raditz "I ain't got any brothers!"

Re: What would happen if Masako Nowaza died?
What would be nice is if they were going to recast Goku for something, it would be before she moved on. That way there could be some interview somewhere where they ask Nozawa what she thinks of new Goku. If she likes it, well, consider the torch passed.
Now what would be interesting is if they cast Goku and Gohan and so on separately. Oooh, that might be more weird to think about.

The number one reason US fans don't care about/watch/whatever the Japanese version is because of Goku's squawking.

Same here:) The funny stuff is that while DB and DBZ had voices over French dub, GT used original audio. After watching Kai fansubs many fans complained at changed voices.

I thought the number one reason was because Goku apparently sounded like a girl.Rocketman wrote:Sorry, I missed this eariler.Eire wrote:Could you explain this for foreign visitors? Also more US fans may migrate to the JP version without BRAWWWKu

Re: What would happen if Masako Nowaza died?
There probably will be one in her honour.Well, there most likely won't be anymore Dragon Ball anime or Videogames.
I'm surprised she can still do the role, actually. Ever seen a recent Simpsons? Kavner's in her sixties now and she has this raspy feel to Marge's voice.
Erm, no. She's quite a big celebrity in Japan, she is known for playing Goku. She has appeared on various talk shows, game shows and the like in Japan where she would do Goku's voice and everyone in the crowd would go crackers because they all would know who Goku was. Even adults. I don't think they would ever replace her. Like I said, there would probably be one Dragon Ball special or manga (or both) in her honour and nothing more after that.Chibi Gohan wrote:As for DB... they'd probably just find new VA's for her roles.
Personally, I wouldn't like to think about her dying. It would be a really, really sad week for me and each time I saw a DB or DBZ episode, I would feel very sad.
Re: What would happen if Masako Nowaza died?
Not true. Famous VAs in Japan do get replaced, whether the fans like it or not. Again, I'd like to point to Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star and Seiya from Saint Seiya's VAs.SylentEcho wrote: Personally, I wouldn't like to think about her dying. Re: What would happen if Masako Nowaza died?
The problem is, as mentioned before, the character is Son Goku not Masako Nozawa. Given that anime is a business driven industry, if there's a demand for Dragon Ball, they will find a way to make more Dragon Ball, with or without Nozawa. She might even get too expensive for the franchise and necessitate a replacement.SylentEcho wrote:Erm, no. She's quite a big celebrity in Japan, she is known for playing Goku. William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are as identifiable with James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock respectively as Masako Nozawa is with Goku, yet those roles (among other high profile supporting roles) were recast for a new incarnation. It is simply not reasonable to even contemplate that a series would be completely put to rest just because someone closely tied to it passed away. Dragon Ball may even outlive Akira Toriyama in the same way Star Trek has outlived Gene Roddenberry.

Both of them were manga series back in the 80's that were and still are just as popular as Dragon Ball is. Their main characters are iconic, especially their voice actors.Drabaz wrote:Who from what?NeoKING wrote:Famous VAs in Japan do get replaced, whether the fans like it or not. Fist of the North Star
They're two well known 80s anime series. And interestingly enough, their main characters he mentioned in Japan would also voice Yamcha and Garlic Jr.

Hell, iirc wasn't the entire FotNS cast was replaced? I've only seen clips from newer material, but from what I can tell at least the vast majority was.NeoKING wrote:Again, I'd like to point to Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star

Re: What would happen if Masako Nowaza died?
Oh really , could Masako’s death be the end of the DragonBall franchise ?
No need of retelling the relationship between Masako & Goku , Masako & Toriyama , Masako & Japan .
Could this mean no more new movies , specials , ovas , video games ... ?
