So I just watched a few episodes from the Kai DVD, and holy crap. The Japanese fansubs and TV broadcasts in America must do something awful with their footage because on the DVD's they look beautiful. For some reason the Japanese fansubs look really blurry and washed out. That from the start deterred me away from Kai. Then when I saw it on Nicktoons, it looked just as bad. But I guess you can blame that on Nicktoons not having an HD version of the channel? (But Kai is in standard definition to begin with, right? I don't know. That's the only excuse I can think of for it looking crappy on TV) But boy was I blown away at how nice this set presents the show. Of course I only just watched the first 4 episodes, so I can't praise the entire set yet. Something else that got to me is that the dub is actually good! I'm a subbie, but I started watching the dub because ohaimynameiserik wanted to know if Linda Youngs laugh was still in the first episode. (It is). The dub is leagues ahead of what it used to be. At this point in my life, I figured that the only time I would ever watch DB dubbed in English again is for nastalgia. So I guess thank you ohaimynameiserik. I'm probably going to get the Blu-ray version of Kai now. Just because I'm crazy...I mean, I have surround sound stereos and I want to make good use of them. I'll probably only buy Part 1 on Blu-ray for now since it's only $15.99 currently on Amazon, and seeing if it's worth getting the rest. I just have to hope the amazon deal will last for a little while till I get payed next.

I'm still not a huge fan of the Yamamoto musical score though. But if another release of Kai comes out with the Kikuchi score, I'm going to definitly hop on that! The final few episodes of Kai with the Kikuchi score was a dream! So if you're on the fence about Kai, get these bundles. They're super cheap and worth it!

Weyull, shucks :P

Don't get too attached to it though, or you'll be very disheartened that the final story arc won't be getting the same treatment. Just like... some of us...

Yea, I'm kinda bummed about that now too. I would have been curious as to if they would keep the same voice actress they had for Goten. I really didn't like his voice in the dub.
