Least Favorite fights
I always see topics about favorite fights, but never the least favorite fights. So, which fights throughout the series do you dislike? Whether it's just because of bad animation, or too boring, or whatever.
My least favorite fights would have to be Goku Vs. Freeza (Z), Vegeta vs. Semi-Perfect Cell, and Gotenks vs Buu. I emphasize Z for Goku vs. Freeza because it is unbelievably dragged out and way too long for my liking. I am sick of the fight before Goku even becomes a Super Saiyan. Kai, however, corrected that for me, and I love the Kai version of their fight.
As for Vegeta vs. Semi-Perfect Cell, this one was just pretty boring, and not animated too well either. It was completely one-sided to Vegeta, but the thing was, Vegeta didn't relentlessly smash him which would have been nice to watch. It was basically, hit Cell hard, talk and taunt for a while, and then repeat.
Gotenks Vs. Buu was a disappointment for me, because they were really just dicking around the whole time. It was a shame because it was hyped up to be a really big, important fight. Wasn't animated too well either

Re: Least Favorite fights
At that point of the series I was pretty much done with Gotenks. You're right about it being over hyped but then again a lot of the fights during the Buu saga were (except for Vegetto vs. Buu of course). Gotenks just got on my nerves.MetalMadness wrote:Gotenks Vs. Re: Least Favorite fights
I didn't like any of the fights during the other world tournament, even Goku vs Pikkon. The only thing I liked about it was the super Kaio-ken move.
Re: Least Favorite fights
Never been a fan of Vegeta vs. Freeza, Goku vs. Freeza (In the original anime, the Kai version is far improved), SSJ Gohan vs. Perfect Cell, Gotenks vs. Super Buu, or (!) Vegito vs. Super Buu. A lot of people seem to like the last fight I listed but to me it just drags on so much and the banter between the two characters becomes tiresome very quickly (Mostly on Vegito's side). It annoys me just as much as the original version of Goku vs. Freeza even though it isn't nearly as long.
Most of the fights in Dragon Ball GT are earth shatteringly boring as well besides Vegeta vs. Gohan when he's possessed by Baby. That was such a short battle, but it was brilliant just for what Gohan did! Why couldn't every fight in GT be that good...? Some parts of SSJ4 Goku vs. Super 17 and the Yi Xīng Long battles are decent as well but I don't think they're great fights overall...

Re: Least Favorite fights
SSjin Goku vs. Freeza in the Anime for sure. Just five billion episodes of Son and Freeza punching and kicking each other non-stop. Freeza suddenly being cut in half was almost as big of a "HOLY SHIT" moment to me as Son Goku going SSjin when I first saw it as a child because of how out of nowhere it was after all of the repetitive episodes of the same thing. I agree completely on Gotenks vs. Shin Boo, Vegetto vs. Boohan, and the Otherworld Tournament fights too.

Pretty much those fights were one figther is obviously superior and only toying with the other.
Prime examples are the Vegeta vs. Semi Perfect Cell fight and then followed by the Vegeta vs. Perfect Cell fight.

Re: Least Favorite fights
1. All the fights in the Garlic Jr. arc.
2. Goku (Pre-super Saiyajin) vs. Freeza
3. Other world Tournament fights
4. Goku vs. Majin Vegeta (really disappointed me, could have been so much better!)
5. Gotenks vs. Boo (Gotenks is awesome, but this again disappointed me.)
Actually the Anime is to blame for most of this. In the manga the fights were really unpredictable. The anime kind of ruined it. The earlier fights and animation was awesome up until the Ginyu arc.

Gotenks v. Super Buu.
I don't like Goten and Trunks, and, unsurprisingly, I don't like Gotenks either. After the relatively dark Freeza Saga, I was a bit let down by the Cell Saga, especially with the inclusion of joke characters during the big battle (Mr. Satan and his group). Still, the SSJ2 Gohan thing redeemed it a bit. But the Buu Saga was so inconsistent in its tone. It was really a disappointment by comparison to the consistency of the Freeza Saga. Here are the most powerful warriors in the Z universe and they're using stupid attacks, making dumb jokes, and the brilliant and brooding Piccolo is reduced to a joke character. And everything that is wrong with the Buu Saga is embodied in this one fight. Therefore, Gotenks v. Super Buu is by far my least favorite.

Well I wouldn't say the Frieza Saga was consistently dark, what about the Ginyu Force? They were just as silly as some of the Buu Saga stuffxzero wrote:Gotenks v. Super Buu.

Re: Least Favorite fights
You're right; I should have been a bit more specific (though once Goku powers through some of them, things get a little more serious). For me, the Freeza Saga begins with the episode after Ginyu is defeated. I consider those episodes the Ginyu Force Saga, and both are subparts of the "Namek Saga" as a whole.MetalMadness wrote:Well I wouldn't say the Freeza Saga was consistently dark, what about the Ginyu Force? That was the long-winded version of saying the consistent darkness applies to scenes on Namek pretty much from the time Freeza arrives after Piccolo is wished back to the destruction of the planet.

Such a snore. Goku vs Kid Boo was also mind-numbingly boring.

Re: Least Favorite fights
Some crazy people up in these forums...Goku vs. Majin Vegeta
Android 18 vs. Vegeta
Gohan vs. Buu
Goku vs. Kid Buu
Goku vs. Majin Vegeta - Great fight as far as the anime is concerned, in the manga they just throw a few punches and kicks.
Android 18 vs. Vegeta - SAD FOR YOUUUUUU!!!!!11 (I honestly don't favor this fight too highly either, but I don't think it's terrible. I do really love the shot where 18 kicks Vegeta's arm while it's in an odd position...)
Gohan vs. Buu - If you're talking about when Gohan charges Fat Buu and fails, I don't really consider that a fight... If you're talking about Super Buu, that's a completely different ball of wax. I know people don't generally like fights where one combatant has an overwhelming advantage, but I can't complain too much because everything Gohan does in this fight is top notch. The only really disappointing aspect of this fight is that the series wasn't concluded with Gohan defeating him!
Goku vs. Kid Buu - The SSJ2 Goku fighting Kid Buu filler is incredible! Goku using the Genki Dama to defeat him is also incredibly iconic compared to the lackluster outcome when used against Freeza...

Completely agreed. I rank that fight among my all-time favourites and easily my favourite from the Boo saga.KKZ wrote:

Re: Least Favorite fights
Goku VS Tullece's henchdudes.
Throughout the movie, they have decent-ish fights with Goku's friends, and from what we see of these, at least Tenshinhan is doing a very impressive job, seemingly defeating his opponent. Then we cut away from them for good until Goku is ready to challenge Tullece himself... at which point every single damn henchman shows up, having defeated their respective opponents, and want to challenge Goku... and Goku just knocks them all out in one hit and takes another step towards Tullece.
I get that Goku is the main character and Toei really likes him, but this "battle" cements the entire role of Tenshinhan, Yamucha, Chaozu, Kuririn and to a lesser degree Piccolo as "these other guys who suck at everything and lose to these people Goku could sneeze to death in his sleep". The "battle" adds nothing to the plot, allowing the other characters to win some battles before getting beaten by Tullece wouldn't have changed anything... but as it stands, neither Tullece's henchmen or Goku's friends play any other role in the movie other than hammering in how awesome Goku is in comparison. Bleh.

Re: Least Favorite fights
Wow. A lot of Gotenks vs. Buu hate going on. I have to say it was my favorite fight of the arc. It may have been entirely pointless, but it made up for itself by being truly hilarious. Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack is probably one of my favorite attacks of the series, and by far one of the most inventive. Seeing Buu eating a parfait and reading manga made me laugh out loud, as did Piccolo facepalming and having that squiggly line emoticon. I'm just glad the Buu arc did something fun with Piccolo. It was the first time he'd really been allowed to be interesting since the Saiya-jin arc.
Oh, almost forgot to actually answer the question of this thread. I have to agree that the Garlic Jr. fights were painfully forgettable. I swear there were others I could think of just a minute ago, but now I'm suddenly drawing a blank.

Which is the main reason I hate it. There is a time for wacky fights, but that time is not directly after the genocide of humanity and one fighter killing and eating the family and friends of the other.Gaffer Tape wrote:Gotenks vs. Buu made up for itself by being truly hilarious.
Gotenks is a greater psychopath than Vegeta ever was.

Re: Least Favorite fights
Oh, puh-leaze. Gotenks might have been an idiot, but at least he actually intended to defeat Buu. If it had been Vegeta, he would have killed everyone in the palace himself and then given Buu access to some mystical new power-up after buying him dinner but before starting up the foreplay.

Goku Vs Oozaru Gohan in Movie 3.
I liked Gotenks Vs Super Buu in the RoSaT, but the SSJ3 portion of the fight was kind of meh.

USS Trunks vs. Perfect Cell wasn't really necessary. "I can beat you! Oh wait, I can't. Just kill me."
Tenshinhan vs. Cyborg Taopaipai wasn't awful. In fact, it was kind of nice to see Ten disavow his old mentor, but did we really have to bring the guy back just this once and never see him again? He was made into a joke as soon as Goku got stronger than him anyhow. Don't believe me? The way his eyes bug out when Goku throws the bomb back at him is taken right from Loony Toons. His filler appearance in the Androids Saga was played entirely for laughs.
