Did Vegeta ever know why Son Goku/Kuririn let him live?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Did Vegeta ever know why Son Goku/Kuririn let him live?

Did Vegeta ever know why Son Goku/Kuririn let him live? I think, during his speech when Goku's fighting Kid Boo, Vegeta says something about Goku sparing him, "as if he knew I'd grow to have a soul".

Not likely considering that Gokū's actual intention in sparing him was to get to fight him again, not out of mercy (though FUNimation's Z dubs say the exact opposite). Thank god for Kai.

Well, Vegeta would have heard Kuririn's side of the conversation, at least. In the Viz translation Kuririn repeats enough of the key points for me to say he would have understood, especially being a Saiyan himself. I'm not sure if it's the same in Japanese, however.

Yep. He would have. Saiyans love a challenge. In the Boo saga when Vegeta referred to Goku saving him once, he meant during the Cell arc.

Coming from someone who has really only seen the Funimation dub (ya I'm a terrible person), it was always my understanding that Vegeta knew Goku spared him out of his "weakness" for giving others a second chance. I can't think of any instances off the top of my head, but I think I recall Vegeta stating this on a few occasions.

Yeah. I actually think that, even if it wasn't explicitly said to him, he knew that Goku spared him to fight him again, since I think Vegeta knew that Goku had the same Saiyan characteristics as him, and the fact that he told Freeza not to interfere because Vegeta promised to fight him again.

I dont think Vegeta really cared.Maybe later he did care, but I believe Vegeta would be smart enough to figure it out.

Hmm, you are right about that. Vegeta mentions a few times (i.e. after killing Rikum and Batta) that Goku has the habit of sparing his enemies.
