Tenshinhans first english FUNimation Voice

I`ve heard that, in Dub Season 3, Tenshinhan had a different voice actor, before the one they have now, was hired.
Can someone confirm this, and perhaps post clips?

Yep. That's right. As far as the English voices go, I like the Ocean Dub Tenshinhaan the best.

Whoever the voice actor was in the Dragonball DVD's was pretty good. I love that blood curtailing yell that he has, it never gets old

For the record, "first English voice" would technically fall to whomever voiced him in Harmony Gold's dub.

Ignoring that, it would then shift to whomever voiced him (Matt Hill?) in FUNimation's original dub of the series in 1996 with the Ocean cast.

Only after all that do you get to the first "in-house" FUNimation voice for him in 1999 with "season three". I have no idea who that would be. The joke at the time was that he had a new voice every other episode.

It wasn't Matt Hill who playhed him in the Ocean eps. I forget the actor's name, but know he was Hayato on the original Gundam.

That would be John Burgmeier who after season 3 of Z was Tien's va throughout the rest of Z and DB. You might also know him for Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho) and Shigure Sohma (Fruits Basket).

Yeah Tenshinhan was originally played by Chris Cason in the original dub of the Freeza arc, and he was played by someone else for like one episode during SSJ Goku and Freeza's fight. As soon as the Trunks Saga hit though he was voiced by John Burgmeier, who is still his current voice to this day. Burgmeier even redubbed all Tenshinhan's dialogue in the season set release of the Freeza arc.

One of the only times I could say I enjoyed the american dub over the original was when Ten was chasing Bubbles, smashed King Kai's table with the hammer while trying to hit her and yelled MONKEYYYYYYY!!!!!! out of frustration. Isn't this the same guy who voiced Ten in Dragon Ball?

That would be Matt Smith (Bankotsu from Inuyasha, same name as the Eleventh Doctor). He was born the same year and has the same first name, so it's easy to confuse the two.

I can very well agree with you that it's easy to confuse the two. While it was Matt Smith who was the first Funimation dub voice of Tenshinhan, it was actually Matt Hill who played Bankotsu in Inuyasha. Both voice actors sound very similar to each other based on their work, along with what you mentioned already about them sharing the same first name and year of birth.
