Your ideal DragonBall game...
Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
I'd love to see a DB game with a fighting system that could rival Tekken.
Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
I was thinking recently. If we need a new fighting game I'd love the following game :
Graphics = 2.5D. So Burst Limit models but playing more like Hyper Dimension.
Modes = Story , Arcade , Tournament.
Story mode style = Like the Subspace Emissary. So using your attacks in a side scrolling adventure game that works like the following :
Saiyan saga - Normal fight - Raditz , Mini-enemies on adventure mode = Saibamen, then at end a 2 vs 2 tag match. Goku & one of your recruits vs Nappa and Vegeta.
Ultimate moves : These are done like fatalities on Mortal Kombat. These moves finish opponents if you want to. Here are some examples.
Goku - input : Up, Down, Back , Back , Forward Energy - Spirit Bomb
Vegeta - input : Back, Down, Back, Foward Forward Grab - Pulls them towards him, Blasts them through the chest and flying off screen (like what he did to Zarbon)
Sagas in game : Piccolo Jr to Buu
Mini-enimes : I was thinking in Piccolo Jr saga it'd be other fighters , Saiyan - Saibamen , Frieza - frieza's soilders, Buu - Demon/alien fighters.

Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
I always wanted to see a Dragon Ball game with a story mode similar to Konquest mode from Mortal Kombat: Deception.

Something akin to the Legacy of Goku trilogy would suit me perfect.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

But how would we keep this PG?

A Dragon Ball game that was made almost similar the way Naruto Shippuuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 was made, oh fucking lovely.

Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
This is a cool topic.
My Dragon Ball dream game would be... Power Stone with Dragon Ball characters, for the Dreamcast. It would strickly be a fighting game and have a zoom-in/zoom-out camera during matches (i.e. Samurai Spirits/Shodown), and there would be some kind of story mode to unlock the villains. The action would be lightning fast much like in Legends. The stages would be gargantuan in siz. And Kenji Yamamoto would compose the soundtrack.

It's not the best looking game out there. But it's a cool looking rpg with Akira Toriyama doing art. It's what I'd love a Dragonball related RPG on ps3/360 to look like.
Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
Yeah, I guess it could work- especially the third screencap. Don't like the graphics too much though...

Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
My ideal game has sort of been made already, with Sparking Meteor.
But here are things I'd add/update or keep the same"
1. Update the graphics, akin to the first Raging Blast.
2. Keep the same characters we've been given, from Sparking 1-3 to Burst Limit 1-2.
3. Add more Dragonball characters. I'd love to see Giran, Ranfan, teen Chichi, Sgt Metallic, etc. But I wouldn't get too carried away.
4. Add the remaining (but not necessary) DBZ (and movie) characters, such as Yakon, Pui Pui, and heck, Mighty Mask for fun. Possibly adult Chichi. Throw certain movie henchmen in.
5. Keep Raging Blast's signature skills. I thought that kept some of the characters different enough.
6. Sparking Meteor style What Ifs.
7a. If we have to have a story mode in there, keep it in the style of Sparking Meteor, where it has the potential to be a What If, if certain opportunities present itself. This way, you could either finish the battle quickly, or play it exactly like in the series/movies.
OR
7b. Or, we could see the return of the Budokai 3 story-mode, which followed the main characters through DBZ. And it gave you a whole world to explore, plus extra stuff. Also, it had a bit of What If mixed in, if you chose certain paths.
8. Continue the trend of specialized dialogue in versus/duel mode.
9. Complete the missing costumes. Since we're going for perfection.
10. Keep character biographies, plus add a few quips from another character, like Sparking Meteor did with Chichi.

Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
My ideal game:
- Plays like Super Dragon Ball Z
Based on the comic.
Only one form of each character. For instance, I would like Gohan as he appears at the end of the story to be the only version of Gohan.
A roster of 35 characters or so. That would be enough to cover most of the major characters. Characters like General Blue should make it over Jheese, Gotenks playable but not Goten & Trunks, and so on.
I wouldn't mind if the Super Saiyan form worked more like an alternate costume rather than a power-up like it did in SDBZ.
I would like the character models and such to be in the same style as the first trailer to DBO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHSTkdXigBI It captures Toriyama's artwork perfectly.
Toriyama Robot playable like he was in Tobal just because.

Actually I'm on a forum, where we've been planning our ideal Dragon Ball game, and have e-mailed Namco Bandai multiple times about it! It's a cross between Budokai and Sparking, and if anyone wants the link to the forum PM me.

Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
I think honestly that they should make full feature games that feature a few characters that goes into their backgrounds, even if the info is uncanon.
A game that dives into Majin Buu's past up to where he gets sealed on earth would be great, I wouldn't mind blowing up some planets with great story telling. Or one the goes into Vegeta's child and teen hood before and after planet Vegeta's death that shows how he became the ruthless Saiyan that we saw in Saiyan arc.

Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
I believe that, coolhitmandude5000 on YouTube, said it best here:
All I want from this DBZ game is:
1) The story mode to take me through the ENTIRE DBZ Series in explicit detail,
2) Have all the characters I care about. Maybe some that haven't been in previous DBZ games...
3) Throw in a few new fighting mechanics. The game looks beautiful, but the gameplay looks the same at the moment.
4) Very good online play, with rankings and dedicated servers (maybe online team battles too).
If they can do these four things, then this game will be great!

But the comments above this sound cool too. An RPG would be awesome. I also like the idea of a Marvel Ultimate Alliance game.

Re: Your ideal DragonBall game...
This. But, you know, on a console, not a handheld. I've had this awesome vision of a turn based DBZ RPG series in my mind for yeeeears now, and it sucks that it'll likely never get made.SSJmole wrote:An RPG.
However, my 2nd pick *might* one day actually appear on store shelves. It amounts to a fusion of Sagas and the Sparking/RB games. Sparking/RB style gameplay, but in an action/adventure title like Sagas. Just, you know, done about 50x better than Sagas was. Huge landscapses to fly along, hordes of enemies waiting to jump out/up at you. And then boss fights could pretty much be like your standard Sparking/RB battle.

Basically, the lovechild of Advance Adventure and Legacy of Goku II. Not sure how it'd work, what with one being side-scrolling and the other top-down... but I want it.
