"Now That Was Awesome!" (Random Things You Liked)

Not sure if there is a thread like this but basically, from Dragonball - GT when watching/reading whatever, what parts/ideas/moves/character developments made you stop and think and even smile and just made you think to yourself, "Now that's awesome!" or "How did they come up with that?"

Feel free to post as many things that really impressed you.

Something minor for me for now would have to be when they used nude magazines to help Roshi nosebleed to expose the invisible man during Dragonball. I thought that was just clever and funny!

Anyway, interested in hearing what you guys have to say.

Since you've mentioned GT, the first thing that popped in my mind was Goku's idea of deflecting Super Yi Shenlong negative ball attack. (Minus + Positive = 0). The last thing you'de expect from Goku is explaining algebra and actually use it in a battle!

Hmm, the first thing that pops to mind is, as a kid, seeing Vegeta transform into an Oozaru for the first time.
I … I totally didn’t run around pretending to be a giant monkey afterwards, nope, no sirree.
Oh! And I was always impressed by the idea of capsules. I thought that was a quite clever idea.

Since GT has already been tossed around, there is one thing that totally gave me that feeling: The end.

I'll admit, i always liked GT. After the end of Z on tv...i just wanted to see more and new Dragon Ball.
There is no denying that...it's really not that good (specially when you take everything before it into account) but i still have fond memories of watching it.

That's why when i saw the ending (and even more so when i got into the japanese version) the feelings and memories it brought back, to me, made me think:

"Wow...That was awesome."

Having said that, the Kamehameha vs Garlic Cannon scene gives me the chills everytime (even in Abridged) as well as Goku's farewell to Pure Boo at the end (Goku's "matta na" at the end just seals it for me)

Wait, that's not what happened. Is that in a censored version or something? In the original, Kuririn pulls down Bulma's top to cause the nosebleed.

Uhh, awesome, awesome... I guess the big one that springs to my mind is Goku defeating Piccolo Daimao. Does any villain ever get defeated that awesomely ever again? He punched a massive hole through him!

^ Do movies count? Cause I think there might be a few where that happens.

DBZ episodes 105/106. I judge new or current action series by setting these episodes as the bar.

1. Raditz catching the bullet the farmer fired at him
2. Capsules
3. Vegeta going ape (that really surprised me)
4. Vegeta actually defeating Oozaru Gohan, but Gohan landing on hin thus defeating him at last! What an ending to an epic battle!
5. Goku defeating Nappa without breaking a sweat
6. Zarbon turning into a beast and defeating Vegeta (I really didn't see that coming)
7. Recoome posing like a model after taking Vegeta's barrage of attacks right after being thrown around by him made me jump out of my chair!
8. Boo eating Vegetto and the narrator saying that it was all over and the good guys had been defeated.
9. Vegeta stealing the dragon balls from Freeza's spaceship right under his nose was just brilliant!

can't think of any more right now.

Goku did the same thing to Super #17. Except that time, he had the help of a golden dragon and subsequently blasted #17 with a barrage of Kamehameha through the hole that was made.

Buu absorbing Piccolo and Gotenks, I thought that was very creative and it surprised me the first time I seen it.

When Goku first used the Kaioken against nappa, I was just like wow, what just happened. I always thought that was cool.

On a serious note, that was a pretty epic and final show-off of how SS4 Gogeta is meant to be broken beyond any sense of reason ala Goten and Trunks. Li (?) Shenron is going all symbolic with a ball of energy representing the the evil past of the stupid laypeople of the Dragon World, and Gogeta just powers up and kicks it.

That said... hmm, it's a bit hard to say knowing the story so well now, and I can't remember how I saw half of it.

- Roshi's failure with the Mafuba ()
- Piccolo's killing Shenron (A Z firster here, so that was one of the few legitmate "The HELL?" moments I had with the series)
- Freeza's mushroom cloud blast. Remember when I got my Season 3 brick and re-watched the episodes for the first time in I don't know how many years, and that caught me by surprise.
- Garlic Jr arc; unbeatable enemy, and you knew for a fact Goku isn't coming to save the day even if you hadn't read the manga, so the anime's love of filler actually worked in the arc's favor. At least on first viewing.
- Final Flash. Epic when you're in the target audience, still epic years after.
- Cell's resurrection; I had a strange feeling he'd do it, and the dub title at the end of the preview ("Cell Returns!") was a clincher.
- Buu's personality changes + His inability to die. Buu arc is a rollercoaster the first time through.

Uh...what? Kuririn pulled down Bulma's top to expose her breasts and make Roshi nosebleed, not nude mags.

- Kuririn flying out of the ring at the 23nd Tenkaichi Budokai and we learn that he can levitate!
- Piccolo Jr's arm extending!
- Piccolo Jr growing several meters!
- Goku entering Piccolo Jr's mouth!
- Goku flying even though his limbs are paralyzed!
- Piccolo shooting a beam through Goku's chest, like what a surprise!
- Basically the whole 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai!
- Kuririn and Gohan's last energy attack on 4th form Freeza.

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

My favorite moment with Tenshinhan is when he's looking for the Dragon Balls with Muten Roshi and Chiaotzu and he meets that guy that he fought and shattered his knee a long time ago, then he apologizes and offers to let him break one of his arms as long as he can get the Dragon Ball. Not entirely sure why, it just always stuck out.

I thought it was awesome when Ma Junior blew a hole through Goku's chest. It was just so unexpected. Ma Junior looked completely lifeless, and then all of a sudden, BAM!. The first time I saw that scene in the Dragon Ball anime, I was kinda shocked, and I thought it was over for Goku.

I felt the scene where Goku pwnd Recoome on Namek, and Goku's dub line was awesome the first time I saw it.
