random youtube clips they look pretty damn nice. Worth picking up one of them?
They are pretty good. All I can say is that the quality is not up to the standards of other Anime films on the format. If you like the dub, than you should be thrilled to know that both English tracks are in 5.1 Lossless Dolby TrueHD. The Japanese mono is in pretty bad shape (encoded at 640kbps Single Mono).
Check out the reviews here complete with 1080 Screenshots (if you join, otherwise 720).

They have all the Double Features reviewed. The link is just for the last disc.

I don't know much about audio, but isn't 640kbps more than neccesary for mono? I know FUNimation probably had shitty audio from Toei.

Mono is still only one channel and depending on how it was mastered/taken cared of, it can sound magnificent or very cruddy. Check the comparison this site has between the mono on DB Movie #1, the R1 vs. R2. Since Toei had access to the original elements, their mono sounds magnificent and to some can be fooled into believing it is stereo.
Just because it's mono, it doesn't mean it has to be bad.
But getting back to your question, with blu ray, most old movies are released with a lossless mono track and (to my ears) the audio just sounds clearer (higher dynamics and range).

it worked out to be a little bit cheaper to buy the Dragonbox rather than the remaining singles that I needed, plus I have the option of selling the singles I have should I decide to (I'm not very good at selling bits of my collection, even bits that could be classed as redundant)
