I thought it worked, using the opposite voices with the character's tone and manner.Piccolo Daimao wrote:Another great episode, guys. But what was the reason behind changing Goku and Ginyu's voices when they switched bodies?

When they switch bodies, the bodies retain the same vocal cords. The sound of the person's voice isn't part of their soul, but their manner of speaking is. Honestly, I think this makes much more sense than how they do it in the actual show.Piccolo Daimao wrote:Another great episode, guys. I understand that. I just found it to be an odd change. Also, I recall Goku keeping his voice when he changed bodies with Ginyu in the previous episode.batistabus wrote:When they switch bodies, the bodies retain the same vocal cords. Actually, if you pay attention, he's THINKING to himself. During those last three "Ohs", one in his head, one both in his head and out loud, and then the last one out loud, it goes from his voice, to both voices, to only Ginyu's voice.Piccolo Daimao wrote:I understand that. Also, we changed it because we wanted to buck the Voice is Mental trope. It made things funnier this way.

I like that the voices were kept to the bodies while the personalities changed. Just wondering, for the Ginyu-Goku, did Masako just use his natural voice? I'm only assuming since he's naturally British. Plus, with the way you guys pulled this off it makes Krillin and Gohan look less dumb because the changed voices in the original makes them look really dumb when it's obviously someone else in the body.

Yeah "Clever girl..." was neat.
That always made no sense to me. If Ginyu is in Goku's body, he's going to have Goku's vocal cords as well.I like that the voices were kept to the bodies while the personalities changed. I think Masakox and Antfish did an awesome job at using their characters voice to portray the opposite characters personality. Well done! When Goku as Ginyu said "I'm a jerk now" I could totally imagine MasakoX as Goku saying that.
Re: DragonBall Z Abridged
I also really liked the whole "bodies keep the voices attached to them" aspect. The deliveries of both actors portraying the opposite characters were very well done! Thumbs-up to both of them and the director.
On hiatus.

Haha! I really like the "ribbit, ribbit, croak!" When he switches to the frog.

While praise is nice the only part I felt was weak was the "mine, mine, mine.....!!!" thing. I dunno why, but I though it seemed to be the weakest gag there. You'd think Ginyu would try to do something.... and I didn't really even get a chuckle.
But that aside I thought the rest was brilliant and had a good laugh.

See, that's one of our FAVORITE gags in the episode. It's funny how things like that work out at times.Attitudefan wrote:While praise is nice the only part I felt was weak was the "mine, mine, mine.....!!!" thing. Ginyu NOT reacting was sort of the point of the gag.

What did I think of the most recent episode?
First of all, I loved how you inserted a New Zealand reference, and here I thought the whole world forgot about us.
I loved the use of the Kai soundtrack and the Raditz, Yamcha joke was hilarious. I found the Wilhem (spelling?) scream reference funny since in the Kai dub that scream was used in the exact same place.
