Budokai Tenkaichi's music, what is it?
Since I wont be buying Sparking for a while, I was wondering what the US music is. Is it Faulconer's music like everyone feared?

If I'm not mistaken, Kenji Yamomoto was the one who composed the music for the Budokai games. As far as I know, Faulconer never touched Budokai. Anyways, I don't think they'll make new music for the US release, so they'll probably recycle the music from the previous Budokais.

Yes, that was what they did.h3ndrix2005 wrote:Anyways, I don't think they'll make new music for the US release, so they'll probably recycle the music from the previous Budokais.

Coo, another Marylander! And I know Faulconer never did the Budokai music, people were speculating his stuff was going to be used in the game. Since the Japanese BGM was used in Sparking.h3ndrix2005 wrote:If I'm not mistaken, Kenji Yamomoto was the one who composed the music for the Budokai games. Aye. I agree. I like Budokai 3's music ( I never mention the other 2 cause I never played themMiesteron wrote:I don't understand why people dislike the Budokai music so much. I love it. I finally get to listen to "Move Forward Fearlessly" again. Happiness. <3

Now, of course it's fine if you like the original better. I'm sure most of you do. But it always sets me off when they say everything else just sucks. I just don't like that word. It's so general, and, while I'm not tying to offend anyone, immature. It doesn't explain at all WHY you hate it.

I agree with what you're saying Leo. And as far as the music goes, I love the original music, and while I am not the biggest supporter of dub music, it doesn't bother me. And if it gets on my nerves, I can just turn the volume down, and listen to one of my CD's.Leotaku wrote:Aye. I agree. To add to what Leo said: There's really no reason to get pedantic over the song selection, when you can just as easily turn the volume down.

I don't like Budokai music. I LOVE Budokai music. It has some of the best rock themes I've ever heard in my life (as far as video games go). And I prefer them a LOT to the original.
Don't get me wrong, the show's music (japanese version) is very nice, but some clips are too short or too weird to be heard in a video game. Different music is needed when playing something and when watching it, I always say.
Anyways, yes, I hate it too, when subbies always bow to the "original" and flame the dub without any apparent reason.
Although it's true that some Budokai themes are also lame, and could be done without. For instance, I HATE it when Brolly's DU theme is constantly used in fighting when playing Tenkaichi.

Yay for backup from lost in thought and ngnikolaos.
Thanks. Nice to know I'm not alone in this issue.
And like ngnikolaos said, "Different music is needed when playing something and when watching it, I always say."
I like the original music, but not for a video game. Especially not a fighting game. Some of it, if I remember correctly (though I probably don't
; I might be confusing it with something else) , is too ambient for me, for a video game. It's just not the kind of music I can bust heads to.
While I don't know the titles, I was particularly fond of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, the Tenkaichi Budokai arena, the destroyed City (had a great, epic, sense of urgency and crisis feel to it), and the Kai Planet music (loved it for its funky, mystical sound) from Budokai 3, to name a few.

I'd just like to reiterate that the music in the Budokai series was composed by Kenji Yamamoto. He's Japanese. He worked on music in the original series/movies. So it's not dub music, it's not American crap, etc. If you don't like that music, that's fine... but don't chock it up to being American in origin.
That said, I can understand disappointment with recycled music for the American release of the game. Kinda sucks. At the same time... what could they do? Atari wasn't the ones funding this game, so they were pretty much just getting a product to release. They had to come up with SOME kind of music to throw in the game. What they did made sense. I can agree with not liking it, but it makes sense!
Also, I can understand the weirdness of the short musical tracks in the Japanese version. I *know* some of these pieces are MUCH longer than they play for in the game. They're all under a minute. Now, other than the few "stay alive" fights where I die in 10 seconds, most of these fights are lasting at least two play-throughs on the songs. I'm starting to get sick of some of my favorite in-show BGMs

My point still stands that the idiocy of some fans makes them bash any non-100%-related-with-Japanese-ANIME-version characteristic of a DBZ game or episode.VegettoEX wrote:I'd just like to reiterate that the music in the Budokai series was composed by Kenji Yamamoto. I mean, I would personally have no qualms in calling an idiot a person who will bash a DBZ game because i.e. Cell's eyes in 1st stage are green and not purple. That's plain retarted!!

I have the UK release and you can have the Japanese voices as an option, can you not do this in the US release?
I know the Budokai music is a bit wierd, and I don't really like some tracks, there is one that sort of sound like the start of Battle Power Infinity, that's ok, and there are a few from Budokai 3, I never played Budokai 2 so I don't recognise tracks from that game.
I wish they put some of the Japanese BGM from the show in the game, there are some tracks that will go well, like a BGM piece they play in the Buu saga for fights, they also play it when Goku goes to shoot Kaio Shin to fight Majin Vegeta.

You can have Japanese audio in the US release, however it comes after beating the first battlegate.Bejiita wrote:I have the UK release and you can have the Japanese voices as an option, can you not do this in the US release?

And as far as including some of the Japanese BGM, I think it was discussed earlier, that there were legal disputes, over rights or something, that kept it out of this release.

Nope. The Japanese audio is already unlocked, no need to finish a battlegate.lost in thought wrote:You can have Japanese audio in the US release, however it comes after beating the first battlegate.Bejiita wrote:I have the UK release and you can have the Japanese voices as an option, can you not do this in the US release?

You think? Because when I went to change settings, it was not in my sound options before I did anything in the game. It is possible I over looked it, but unlikely because I tweaked almost every setting option, before play. And then again, when the game proved be to difficult on Normal.Eclipse wrote:Nope. 100% positive. The absolute first thing I did after putting the game in my PS2 for the first time was change the audio.lost in thought wrote:You think? Well then, I overlooked it, and could have been using the audio all along, instead under the assumption it had to be unlocked, so I completed the first battle gate.gallagtor wrote:100% positive. The absolute first thing I did after putting the game in my PS2 for the first time was change the audio.
I need to be a little more observant from time to time.
