Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discuss
Last night I've emailed Funi (specifically their product concerns department) about the amount of episodes in Part 6.
Here is what I wrote:
I have recently seen the cover for Dragon Ball Z Kai Part 6 here, and I'm unclear how many episodes it has. I can read that it starts with episode 66 but I can't read what the last number is. Can you please tell me what episode this set goes up to, or how many episodes are in this set?
They wrote back:
66-77
Thanks,
Product Concerns.
So that settles it, this set only has twelve episodes.

My review of the two new songs:
"Sonny Strait`s Dragon Soul": I think this is the best one yet. Not because he is a great singer, but because he is SOOO into it, and it sounds like he is having fun doing it.
"Kokoro No Hane English Version": Dub song... Not bad, nothing special. Sounds like an english version.

My order from RightStuf has shipped, which probably means so has everyone else's. We'll have high quality goodies from the set by next week!

Mmmm the latest Nicktoons summer preview lets us hear Cell's Kai voice. From what I'm hearing it's still Clarke, or am I mistaken?

I'm about 95% sure it's Dameon Clarke. Nothing against Travis, but getting Dameon back to reprise his roll as Perfect Cell would be magical.
Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discuss
I'm pretty sure 98 will air on Nicktoons with no problems. 98 didn't air on Fuji TV because it was going to air during the same month that the earthquake happened. It'll probably air here in the US with nothing getting in it's way.spaceace998 wrote:I had a thought the other day. Since episode 98 never aired in Japan, is it possible that it won't be aired in the US either? Since it's to be included as a bonus episode on the Japanese Blu-Rays and DVDs, I'm still expecting it as a bonus episode in the US as well.

DBZ bootlegs have the movie 9 cover with the pioneer movie 2 description on the back and the disc actually has a Japanese soap opera in MEPG2.

Looks awesome.. Kinda sucks Blu-Ray gets a nice motion menu, where the dvd gets a standard still menu....

Hey, everyone. I haven't asked for a line request in a while, but I'm hoping someone can help me out.
In episode 66, around 12:47 on the nicktoons site, Mr. Popo is scolding Kami for considering merging with Piccolo. Can anyone help me fill in the blank here.
"You're still Kami, wise ____ Guardian of the Earth!"
Here's a link to the episode: http://nicktoons.nick.com/videos/clip/d ... -full.html
EDIT: And now I have another request. In episode 67, at around 15:36, the policeman is telling Android 18 to back off from his car. If someone can fill in the blank again, it'd be greatly appreciated.
"Whoa! __________ there, honey! Don't make me...!"

I don't know... I prefer the standard menu on the DVD. I don't generally buy Blu-Ray stuff unless it's Blu-Ray exclusive (FFVII Advent Children Complete) or part of a combo pack that costs an extra $2-4 over the DVD price (Toy Story 3, Harry Potter 7, etc.). But I hate menus with animation if you can't skip the animation part and get right to the menu.Vegeta1984 wrote:Looks awesome.. Also, on the topic of Part 5, mine arrived today and I spot-checked a couple of moments. I basically stopped watching it online on Nicktoons after the Freeza episodes, so now I'm DVD-only for the back half. I still love Chris Ayres' delivery of the final Freeza speech on Namek, and I think he does a great job with Mecha Freeza's lines. I didn't watch anything past Trunks killing Mecha Freeza yet, but so far, I'm surprised to report that the Kikuchi music is actually working for me. I never had a problem with it, but I preferred Faulconer's in Z and I liked the Yamamoto stuff in Kai.
Here's a question about the Kikuchi music in Kai. Is it the same everywhere, or have there been different edits of it? I know some of the Kikuchi stuff just didn't work on Nicktoons or the godforsaken Toonzai because of scenes being cut out, but is the stuff on the DVD an exact mirror of how the score was replaced in Japan? I ask because from the few scenes and episodes I watched, it didn't seem nearly as out-of-place as people were complaining about it being.

Same. I think it could be a result of the editing during the broadcasting. Some of the earlier episodes are a little miss, but the newer episodes are mostly hits.

The animation isn't in the way. The menu is still there and accessible, the animation just runs in the background. It's similar to how Shenron's in the background on the DVD sets.xzero wrote:I don't know... I prefer the standard menu on the DVD. People have been complaining about John Burgemier but to me he did a fantastic job! I mean, he didn't sound bored at all. Stoic is a better word.
Trunks sounds fine to, just at times there is too much rasp...
The music doesn't sound that out of place in these episodes as of late. Kikuchi's music placement is starting to really fit and I think at times sounds much better than Yamamto's score.

My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Ah, misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification. If that's the case, then I agree that it'd be nice for the DVD to have it toofunrush wrote:The animation isn't in the way. Kai Part 5 DVD Unboxing Video. At the end I show all of the DVD Menus (Aside from the main ones since they're the same as all of the others, just with yellow).

I wish the Blu-ray cases are as nice as the DVD cases.

Thanks for uploading that Gozar, that video got me psyched up for buying it from BestBuy in a few weeks. I'd get it from rightstuf but I'm not a fan of buying things online. Is the audio when you showcased the menus just a piece you picked, or is that the music in the menus?Gozar wrote:Kai Part 5 DVD Unboxing Video. A little off-topic but, I really hope Funi replaces the earlier sets with Kikuchi soon so I can buy them. I don't want to have the first four sets with Yamamoto and then the last four have Kikuchi.

Thanks Gozar for posting an unboxing video of the DVD version. The picture of Trunks from Movie 9 is pretty but it would have been cooler to have #17 and #18 on the DVD cases instead. Like how they had I believe in the second Part of Kai Dodoria and Zarbon on the cases.
Anyways, I just finished watching Episode 67 and I really liked the arrangement of the Kikuchi score. I think its one of the best arranged episodes in terms of the replacement score.
Trunks' rasp annoyed me as usual and I still dislike Colleen as #18. But I am loving Chuck Huber as #17 and I like the person who plays #16 with the improved voice. Chris Sabat seemed much more solid this episode as Kami as well. My only other complaint is that the dub seems to be getting much more sloppy.
Two more weeks until we finally hear Daemon Clark as Cell and I cannot wait (although what I am really waiting for is Perfect Cell).

It's still the same actor.PuppetDoctor wrote:I like the person who plays #16 with the improved voice.
I like his performance this time around too. He sounds formal, in a mechanical sort of way, but he also emotes as well, so it sounds pretty believable instead of being in-your-face entirely stereotypically robotic.
