Am I the ONLY person who doesn't mind John's Tenshinhan here? He doesn't sound BORED to me, he just sounds refrained. He's a bit of a stoic character, I think it's more subtlety than apathy.

Vale's Trunks sounds like shit though. Which is too bad, I really like Vale. :\

Yamucha should in no way have said, "Future Trunks!" Just like Bulma shouldn't have wondered if Vegeta was going to take them all hostage to get Goku to return from space some episodes back. Logically, Goku would only know if his friends were hostages if he actually returned, which would render the reason to take them hostage moot. Bulma isn't retarded and neither is Vegeta.

Funimation just making things up as they go along isn't acceptable anywhere.
Considering Bulma couldn't notice that the Purple Haired Super Saiyan from the Future who shares similar physical traits with her son with the Saiyan Prince is her son from the future...I'd say she lacks any common sense or deductive reasoning skills. She's got intelligence, but she's lacking in other areas, it seems. Even ignoring what we learn from Trunks, Vegeta states that only himself, Goku, and Gohan have Saiyan blood at the time, so Trunks being born as the fourth saiyan, having the same eyes and hair color...it's not rocket science.

And as for the errors in question. The occasional flub may be annoying...but how often are they really happening? I remember one or two complaints from the Trunks arc, then it calmed down during the early Androids stuff, then we've gotten this recent thing about Future Trunks.

Also, I agree with you Kaiser, Stoic fits Tenshinhan at this point. It's not like he's a younger, more angry Tenshinhan.

As for Trunks...He really needs to pull back on the rasp. I'd laugh if the rasp was Nicktoons only, though.

I'm not saying the dub is rife with problems, but it does still have its flaws.

As for Burgmeier's Tenshinhan... eh, he always sounds like he's annoyed by a rash or something.

I may have jumped the gun just a little bit; while the Saiyan episode reruns were changed to Kikuchi's score, the Goku vs Freeza reruns I caught a small glimps of still had good ole' Yamamoto in it. From what I can imagine though, they must be gearing up to change the next batch of reruns when they become available for airing.

I too have always been partial to John Burgmeier's Tenshinhan, even if I feel like should go a tad rougher vocally sometimes. IMO he's leagues better than the always over-the-top Matt Smith, and I think he really hit his stride back in the early to mid 2000's while recording Dragonball and the DBZ season 1 & 2 redub (even with the horrendous scripts). For Kai, I feel like his performance gives off sort of a "been here, done this" type of feeling to it, but I'll still reserve my judgement until I hear how he does with Ten's last shining moment, a.k.a blasting the hell out of Cell!

(God I sure hope they correct his attack name to Kikoho for the home release! I don't care if it breaks continuity, I want to hear it correctly in the dub dammit!)

Trunks's subpar voice is something I can agree with unfortunately, which is a shame since Vale is an awesome actor and such a great casting choice for him. It was quite jarring the first time hearing him when he makes his Kai appearance. In my mind I was like, "dude, lay off the rasp, he doesn't have to sound like a badass with every line he has." I also contribute part of this due to the script; a result of not making him sound polite enough.

Although in the more recent episodes, he didn't bother me as much. I don't know if it was due to me not paying enough attention, or having been focused on the acting rather than the voice, but I thought Vale was decent enough (quite a few quality screams he pulled off too, particularly his "FATHER!!" yell, I thought that was well done). Overall though, his Trunks voice certainly has evolved over the years, but definitely not for the better.

I also wonder if it might just be a Nicktoons change, to give a name formally to the kids who didn't grow up with the old stuff. Not likely, but a thought.
Sounds pretty likely to me. I mean, they kept names like "Special Beam Cannon" and "Destructo Disk" in the Nicktoons version only to change those names back to their original names (Makankasappo and Kienzan respectively) in the Uncut version. Also, we've got stuff like Vegeta saying "Over 9000" in the Nicktoons version while having it be "Over 8000" in the Uncut version. So I wouldn't say it's terribly unlikely that Future Trunks is a Nicktoons only thing.

Okay. I noticed that last night when I recorded two of those Freeza eps that were playing. Now, I'm ready to record some of those Saiyan episodes to watch later. I'll probably give my opinion on the placement here, also.

To be honest, I think it's retarded either way. Nicktoons has NEVER censored death before. I mean, actually try to play out the death as never happening.
Sorry to tell you, but that line is kept in the home editions as well.

Oh what the fuck. Not a censoring issue, then, someone just thought it would be funny.

How do you guys know this? Season 1 Part 5 isn't released until June 28, at least, not in North America.

If you're not pulling our legs though well...to be honest, it actually is pretty funny....really out of place considering that the guys at FUNI promised us something almost entirely true to the original manga and anime, but...oh well.

Some people here bought the set off Rightstuf.com, which is known to ship up to 2 weeks early.

Is FUNimation still trying to paint Vegeta as not being as evil as he's supposed to be? What the fuck is FUNimation doing with all of the hype they had built up towards an "accurate" and "faithful" dub? It just keeps getting worse... Of course it's still leagues above Z, but at some point, that isn't saying much... I really hope they Kai dub doesn't reach that point, though I'll probably not buy any more DVD's and just watch it on Nicktoons, since I'd rather spend money on the Dragon Boxes.

I really hope we get Kai box sets with all of the stupid little errors and added jokes corrected, which would get me to buy more Kai DVDs.

Well at least in the home editions, Piccolo doesn't say, " If you want that answer you'll have to go home and write me a polite letter". That's one plus. My brother using my same camera, uploaded the scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QjJ91xROuY

He saids, ''If you want that answer, you'll have to answer with my fists!". Also No. 17 instead of calling Dr. Gero a "old geezer" simply calls him a "bastard".

I honestly can't believe that was intentionally left on the DVD (unless it was to drive up "True" uncut Blu Rays! <_< *paranoia'd*)...More than likely, it was a gaf on an editor's part. That said, I recommend pointing this out to Sabat. If anything needs to be removed from future prints, it's that.

Yeah, I agree. Its really hard to believe that was left in intentionally. Sure, its amusing, but it seems like something added for the broadcast airings.

Definitely. Remember, they're putting out at least two versions of the series, at the same time, at a high rate (not counting the Toonzai version, as some of those edits probably weren't done in house). An occasional slip up in the first printing is quite possible.

I knew there was something suspicious about Nicktoons censoring death! =D Atleast this means we won't see people 'mysteriously' alive after this, hopefully. I think the joke would've worked out better if he had gasped the line. You know, like he's still dying but cares more about his truck than dying.

I was watching some of the Saiyan arc episodes this morning, and it was neat with the Kikuchi music.
