Owned them since the big boxes came out starting 2003
, so not very likely, no.

That's just poor timing. Last week I purchased both Dragonball Z Dragonboxes so I no longer need them. Missing those 2 specials was incentive for purchasing the boxes. Would I still have purchased them if I had known these singles would be on the way? Probably... it's cheaper than buying the singles from CD Japan I suppose.

Awesome news. If Funimation doesn't have them in the last Dragon Box, I'll probably have to import them.

I think I'm going to import them anyway. Not a bad price for a great feature.thedarkuniter wrote:Awesome news. If Funimation doesn't have them in the last Dragon Box, I'll probably have to import them.

The timing for this is a pretty strange. Could it be because Funimation is probably gonna release DragonBox: The Movies next year and Toei is worried about people reverse importing it?
That is, if the TV specials were even aquired in whatever deal Funimation had with Toei to get these masters.

The timing seems to go along with recent "Dragon Ball Heroes" events, marketing-wise (Super Saiyan 3 Trunks and Super Saiyan Bardock are just plain weird to me, BTW.).Tanooki Kuribo wrote:The timing for this is a pretty strange. I do wonder if this means FUNi got them (and/or perhaps further Dragon Ball series/specials), though. If they did... I wonder what I'd do with the old singles I got...?

That was my initial thought, too. That Toei knows FUNi's release will be coming soon so they decided to preempt it locally. Although you'd wonder why they waited even this long. Just because they weren't Dragon Box versions doesn't mean there weren't ample opportunities for Japanese fans to obtain previous releases of the two specials. You'd think Toei would have wanted to deal with it back then.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:The timing for this is a pretty strange. What is interesting about this release is the distributor is Shueisha instead of Toei or Pony Canyon or Happinet. I wonder whether they are just going to use the DBOX master or not.

I'm also wondering for the final Dragon Box besides getting the specials, will we have the original "Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans" OVA subbed. I really hope that's the case.

I really hope that doesn't mean that they'll only get the type of release that the Jump Super Anime Tour special got.kei17 wrote:What is interesting about this release is the distributor is Shueisha instead of Toei or Pony Canyon or Happinet.
Please tell me that they do actual retail releases for DVDs.

Re: Dragon Box Singles: The Trunks and Bardock TV Specials!
Oh, nice. I'll toss a stitched-together full size version of the image at the end of this post (the quality is still not all that great, but it'll do for now).
Funny how "Heroes" is mis-spelled at the top ("Heros"), despite them getting it right as "Heroes" everywhere else I've ever seen.
Something I wasn't too sure about was whether or not each TV special would get its own, separate DVD release, but this seems to confirm that both will be on the same disc for the ¥1000. Nice.
Looks like it'll come with Bardock and Trunks cards for "Heroes", too.

Off topic, but since the costumes on the cards are the ones used for the in-game characters, I think this is the first time I've ever seen that costume used for Trunks.VegettoEX wrote:Looks like it'll come with Bardock and Trunks cards for "Heroes", too.

This does look like the DVD case is included in a bigger paper package and the actual cover will look like this:

This kind of packaging is common among low price DVDs sold in Japanese convenience stores.

The cover says there'll be a "special comment" from Akira Toriyama.
君と再会ったとき 子供のころ大切に想っていた景色を思い出したんだ

Wow, who wants to bet it was written way back in 2003, but not used for the original release?Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:The cover says there'll be a "special comment" from Akira Toriyama.

Predictions?
"These were two TV specials made based on my work. They feature characters, animation, music, and voices. I hope that you can enjoy them! - Akira Toriyama"

"Who's Bardock? The guy with the sword?"
I don't know why, I was expecting it to be a video or something, they wouldn't do that...
I might get this since it's cheap, and in case they're not with the hopefully upcoming Funi DBoxZ the movies.

Re: Dragon Box Singles: The Trunks and Bardock TV Specials!
Why do I have the distinct feeling that these aren't the Dragon box versions?
