Apparently there are a lot of Kenji Yamamoto fans out there

Post by Aoi » Fri Jul 08, 2011 2:08 pm

I've gone to two big anime stores in Toronto (one of them in the famous Pacific Mall, heaven for anime fans), and both stores are selling ripped box sets of the Tele Toon tv release of Dragon Ball Z Kai (with Kenji Yamamoto score). The funny thing? They've been out selling the official releases (at the big one downtown, won't say the name due to legal reasons).

Wow. I just found that interesting. I actually bought a copy of the official release (to support FUNI and their excellent dubbing job) , but found that fascinating.

Just wanted to share that with you guys.

I don't understand. Does Tele Toon still use Yamamoto?

I think he means that they're selling digital TV tapings of the episodes with the Yamamoto score.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

That's what I meant. Thanks for clarifying it for me. I asked my older brother (who goes often to the one at Pacific Mall) and one of the owners of the many stores told him that there is a "boycotting trend" amongst buyers, who have been asking for "only the original Kai music" (meaning Yamamoto's score). This led them to sell digital tv tapings (mostly off torrent), copied on DVDs.

I don't I've ever heard of that happening like this happening before. They even told me they had been doing well with Parts 1 and 2. When it was announced that Part 5 changed the music, their part 3s and 4s simply stopped selling.
