Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio
I have to say, I'm impressed with the battle system they have going on. The jump between the single screen and split screen is a nice touch(one I've been waiting on for a long time). I'm still bugged by the animation though, VegettoEX is right, it's been like 6 years and it's still the same animations just different polish. My girlfriend is the one that keeps bringing this point up too; a lot of other anime based games are looking more and more like there anime counter parts and yet Dragonball looks dated and clunky.
Here are some comparisons of games that have an anime feel to them:
Studio Ghibli's new PS3 game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M36YHOPKlJU
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2(a game that came out last year and by the same publisher):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5F-BLLChoM
Catherine(not based off an anime but still):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5F-BLLChoM
Ultimate Tenkaichi:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsHJ3WYJaMg
Not saying the game looks bad, but by comparison it could look so much better. It's been six years and we have the same animations still. And it's not like we can't do it.

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio
I'm not going to pretend like i know all about coding games, but it doesn't seem all that difficult to just take every outfit that character X or Z (har har) wore in the series and movies and call it a day, i'd like to see that. (Just take Goku and add everything from Kame gi to end of Z gi...which is like 8 costumes or so)
Something that i'd REALLY LOVE and don't remember them doing is being able to preview the costume you're selecting beforehand.
....that and Gohan's kaioshin outfit
EDIT: Read SparkyPantsMcGee's post above. Nobody can deny those comparisons he made. I 100% subscribe to that post.

Maybe Spike should spend more time developing their games.

Raging Blast 1 did allow you to view the costumes.Something that I'd REALLY LOVE and don't remember them doing is being able to preview the costume you're selecting beforehand
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

I really hope Cyberconnect2 gets the license to the DBZ games after Spike's rotten contract expires.

Like it's their choice! They have to put the game out when they are told, they are on a yearly schedule.Rostir wrote:Maybe Spike should spend more time developing their games.

Yes, please.mystic trunks wrote:I really hope Cyberconnect2 gets the license to the DBZ games after Spike's rotten contract expires.
CyberConnect2 is also working with Capcom on Asura's Wrath. For some reason, i feel like that team working on a Dragon Ball game would be gold.

They are putting a lot of effort into the story mode. Why do you expect them to redo animations when they are already fine?VegettoEX wrote:When I watch the new trailer, I see the exact same character animations (specifically Gohan's giant Masenko used in the series against Freeza), completely untweaked, that I saw back in the first Sparking! game in 2005. Personally, no, I don't see a whole lot of effort, yet. I'd love to be proven wrong. The same way I wanted to be proven wrong every year since.

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio
Burst Limit looked nothing like the anime and used very low poly models that looked completely wrong. Raging Blast 1 is the closest we have ever gotten to looking like the anime, also Ultimate Tenkaichi isn't trying to look like the anime. Also I have no idea why so many people think NUNS2 looks good, it is covered in horrible bloom and terrible textures. I also don't see why so many people want them to do a DBZ game, the Ultimate Ninja games are even worse than the Raging Blast games! Personally I think they should either get a completely different team or try and get Dimps, but I doubt they could considering they are working on like 3 sonic games at any given time. I just want another 2D/2.5D fighter, but not another Burst limit.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:I have to say, I'm impressed with the battle system they have going on. The poly count on Budokai 2/3/Burst Limt always were terrible. Budokai 1 was much better, and Raging blast so far had the best Dragonball graphics.
One day I hope for a fresh new Dragonball RPG fighter. Plays like an RPG, fights like Tenkaichi or something like that.

Why do you constantly feel the need to dictate or say what and how others should be expecting and discussing a game when it's all just based on opinions?ShinMassa wrote: I enjoy these games. I understand that you guys want the ultimate DBZ game, but there's no need to be bashing the game with low level skilled gameplay and 3 trailers that hardly show anything new. I say we just take our time, wait it out, and then we'll see if this game is shitty like RB2, according to the majority of people.
I respect your opinion and yes I also think some have been harsher than others but it's completely ok as long as it is uttered in a casual and factual manner. No one is going ape-shit and raging here. It's totally ok to express your disappointment because other's expect different things. Just my two cents..

I come from a so-called "DBZ Fan site" by the names of DBZonPS2, and I'm used to people just going on and on about how the games for all this time has been shitty by each year, how they want CC2 to take-over and make it like Naruto.InfernalVegito wrote:Why do you constantly feel the need to dictate or say what and how others should be expecting and discussing a game when it's all just based on opinions?ShinMassa wrote: I enjoy these games. Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio
Yeah no problem. There will be ALWAYS something to complain about and you can't change it. I complain as well because the fact that the same developer that's been producing the games over a course of 7 years does not manage (for whatever reason?!) to put in all things that have been like they were in the anime. It's frustrating.
But that doesn't change the fact that I will give the new game a shot. It looks delicious. And although I think that I won't like this new kind of gameplay as much as the typical free BT/RB gameplay I will try it out no matter what. It's something different and that should be appreciated.
Time will tell how this game will make it..

I mean, I HATE Raging Soul from RB2.

Completely untweaked is an overstatement. Anyway. Nobody complains when Ryu shoots his Shinku Hadoken the same way year after year, cause it's always about the game with Street Fighter, the refined aesthetic is just the bonus. This is where I see where the heads of the DBZ community is sometimes. Some things are staples. Not broke ? Don't fix it. That's how I look at it. I don't need things like that to change, the core gameplay and dynamics that has changed is what I care about. Anything extra is icing on the cake.

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (Pre-Release Discussio
Well apparently, Spike thinks nothing is broken, because I feel like I've been playing the same game for years now. The things Mike mentioned are broken. The mouth flaps look ridiculous and lazy. The animations don't look any better; it's not like they were perfect to begin with. The "core gameplay and dynamics" are debatable, but I've never had much fun playing this series (I just try to enjoy it because it's a Dragon Ball game with a lot of characters), and my feelings have only decreased with every addition.Shin_Chou_Senshi wrote:Not broke ? Honestly, unless they redid the gameplay from the ground up, which I know they're not doing, I have no interest in this game. It's not like there are a few issues that are bothering me, I just don't have fun playing. The presentation isn't good enough to make me play it just for the sake of seeing something "new" Dragon Ball related, and everything just seems lazy.
If somehow this game covers almost everything that I could reasonably want, minus gameplay, I will get it. But honestly, I just want something new.

I don't care how this game turns out, what I am really interested is who is gonna take up the mantle next for dbz. Maybe the series will cool off.
