When did Goku save Vegeta's life?

I was reading through DBZ Graphic Novel 22 or Dragon Ball #38 and Vegeta said that once Goku even saved his life. Was he talking about in the Freeza saga? What did he mean?

When he told Krillin to let him go in the Saiyan arc, thus saving his life.



He also saved Vegeta's life when he showed up and defeated most of the Ginyu force and when he teleported away with Cell (who was about to explode).

So he actually saved him at least 3 times.

Krillin was the one who spared his life. Goku interfered and begged Krillin to spare him, thus saving him.

Krillin was moments away of killing him and he would have killed him, if it wasn't for Goku.

Krillin was the one who spared his life. Goku actively interfered and begged Krillin to spare him, thus saving him.

Krillin was moments away of killing him and he would have killed him, if it wasn't for Goku.

EDIT: You could also possibly count Goku defeating the Ginyus as him saving Vegeta's life. He saves Vegeta's life in the alternate timeline when he kills Freeza on Earth also.

I used to wonder which time Vegeta could've possibly been referring to when he said "Once...[Goku] even saved my life!!!" because, hey, it happened on several occasions as you have all pointed out. But something I picked up on a while back in DB vol. 42 makes me think that Vegeta was talking about when Kuririn was gonna kill him on Earth. It takes place during his "you are #1" speech.

Vegeta: "Kakarrot...You are glorious...This creature is far beyond my power...No one but you can fight him. I think I see at last...why I could never beat you. I thought it was because you had people to protect...I thought that desire created some unfathomable power in you. But I have the same desire now. I have others to protect. And yet...I still fight to win...to enjoy it...to kill my enemies...to puff up my pride. Not you. You've never fought to win. You fight to better yourself! To push your limits! That's why you never killed your enemies......why you refused to kill me. As if you knew all along I would learn to have a soul...I should hate you! A Saiyajin who loves to fight - and is kind?! ...Good luck, Kakarrot...You are the champion!!"

It's possible that Vegeta could mean killing him at any time after Goku surpassed Vegeta, but I like thinking he's talking about from the very beginning.

Personally, when I heard the line I immediately went to Goku telling Kuririn not to kill Vegeta. I never actually even considered another point.

I think Vegeta was most likely talking about when Goku begged Kuririn to spare Vegeta's life on Earth. I think that moment would've been the most insulting to him, because the other times Goku saved Vegeta's life, it wasn't highlighted as much because Goku was pretty much saving his son and friends at the same time, rather than Vegeta alone.
