Question about extracting the unreleased bgm

Post by ffman1985 » Wed Jul 20, 2011 11:12 am

I have bought the Dragon Ball GT Season 1 & 2 DVD, and I have tried to extract the bgm by the following steps:
1. Using DVDFab to extract the .vob files
2. Convert the .vob files to .ac3 files by VirtualDubMod
3. Convert the .ac3 files to 6-channels wave by Foobar2000
4. Delete the useless channels by Audacity

However, it is found that the sound effects are mixed together with the bgm in the same channel. Can anyone share the methods in extracting the bgm? Thank you very much.

I ran into the same problem with one of the movies, and it was about that time that I gave up.

Are you trying to just acquire mp3s of the unreleased BGM? If so, I think there's a thread somewhere on this forum that has all of them available for download without the work. Just search for it and it should pop up.

The only advice I have if you're working on something else is that it's impossible, as far as I know, to extract the music from the Japanese language track. The dub track with Japanese BGM is the one that's in 5.1, and thus the only viable option to get the music. You probably already know this, but if you weren't aware of it, make sure you're using only the dub, not the sub, to get the music.

It's a pain in the ass, but you'll most likely have to find other scenes with the same BGM playing without the sound effects at certain parts and splice them together.

Maybe it is time for me to give up. The BGM that I want to extract only appears once.

Can you upload the ac3 file? I will look into that.

Hello, kei17, I am really happy to see your help. I have already uploaded the .ac3 file.

This is a track from Dragon Ball GT Ep.45 (Super 17 Saga). The bgm that I feel difficult to extract is around 3 minutes 30 seconds of the file and lasting for about 1 minute. It is the scene that the hole out of hell is reopened by Piccolo and Dende.

I never see the clean version of this bgm, I hope that you can extract it. Thank you very much.

I checked the file and it's impossible to rip a clean version from it. Anyway, according to Kenisu3000's list, this track plays 13 times in the series.

No, although the bgm play 13 times in the series, the one plays in ep.45 is the long version which only appears once.

Yeah, that bgm that plays in that episode is the full complete one. Too bad we will never get a complete version of it. Only the clean short one that I ripped ages ago is the best one until some soundtrack appears.

Are you going to re-open your Youtube channel someday?

Did you make a "semi-perfect" version of that bgm? I mean the full complete one.

@Roark. I doubt I will. My fan-boy days have been over since late 09. I still come back and visit to see what else is new (:
Maybe one day if I won the lottery or got really rich somehow, I can catch up =P

@ffman. I only did a clean short version of it, because as you can see, the only version of it complete is on episode 45 and that is covered with noises of piccolo and dende. Sorry man.
