Dunno if it's just me watching the episodes closer now that they're twice a week, but I'm reeeeally starting to notice the edits this time around, with all the awkward cuts being done. The Wednesday episode alone had the weird cut around Piccolo's "death" as well as what I'm assuming was Goku hitting Gohan to stop him from flying off. Stuff like blood tuned to sweat has also become more of an annoyance. I get that we're getting everything uncut in the home releases anyway, but it still annoys me knowing that ten plus years ago blood was perfectly fine even for TV airings.

I never really considered it before, but seeing how eager Gohan was to save Piccolo made me wonder why 18 didn't act similarly when 17 was in trouble. Maybe it's because she wasn't really a fighter before Gero turned her into an Android? Meh, their whole backstory in general is something of a missed opportunity.

16 fighting and having it cut from crappy to smexy animation was just as distracting as ever. Also thought it was strange that his attack was neither "Inferno Blast" or Hell uh... whatever the uncut attack name was. Also, I second Tenshinhan having an awesome voice as the gang's stoic guy. Though I must also second the hate for second form Cell's voice. Having never seen these episodes dubbed in Z, I gotta admit that his voice in Kai is so... blah.

Inman's 16 certainly sounds more animated this time around. You actually buy he feels things, even though his voice is still a bit stiff at times.

I'm absolutely loving Clinkenbeard's 18 now.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

I've always liked Inman's way of briefly pausing between words, now that his voice acting has improved I'm kinda stoked on the way he plays 16. I wish I had more to say but I don't really have much else pleasant to add about the dub in general, really.

Probably because unlike Gohan, she doesn't rush into things without thinking it through, and she doesn't do things knowing that they'll be useless. She probably knew that her trying to help out would be fruitless....

Or, maybe she just doesn't care about him that much, I dunno. Siblings aren't always terribly close.

Imo, Clinkenbeard's Gohan was the only thing that sounded off to me in this episode. When pleading for Piccolo she sounded more "girlish", sort of resembling her 18 voice. Maybe that day she got off of a recording session for 18 and went straight to Gohan afterwards? Who knows.

As for Cell's second form, it's the same vocally just acted better and spoken with more clarity. Besides we only heard brief glimps of it so far, I'm curious to hear some more before I make an overall judgement.

Not really. Toonami may have allowed some blood but any moving or flying blood was 100% forbidden. You only saw that kind of content on the midnight release, and you can't really compare PG to Y7.

The Midnight Run didn't air DBZ any differently then when it played on Toonami. Unless you're talking about other shows like Gundam or Tenchi Muyo... then, yea.

Episode 24 is airing now, and I noticed an uncut line

Zarbon: Ugly as it is, in this form I'm capable of snapping your neck like a twig.

And of course that really funny new censored line that Tanooki Kuribo posted is from this episode.

Episodes 25 & 26 had no uncut lines sneak in.

You get my point. Nicktoons may have stacked color altering onto it but Toonami didn't exactly allow buckets o' blood either.

I was particularly shocked about that one, it's definitely stronger than simply mentioning death.

Episode 27 has no retroactive uncensoring as most of those lines have profanity except for the first 3 censored lines, and they're still censored.

I find it amusing that the uncut lines are being thrown in for the reairings. Its almost like Nicktoons doesn't give a damn about most of the uncut lines. :P

Is Nicktoons asking the dialogue to be changed or is Funimation's script writers playing it extra safe?
"Doom" is OK for Nicktoons too, they've said it before. This seems to be one of those confusing edits where it was OK before but, for some reason not this time. Could be just the way it was worded this time.
This is a little old, but... it could be something as simple as who is in charge of BS&P at Nicktoons that day, or who's in charge of the lighter dialogue at Funi. Different people have different levels of what is 'acceptable' in their heads.

From here on in I'll try to find retroactive uncensoring, but if someone beats me to the punch then that's fine.

Episodes 31 & 32 had none.

Maybe I was just in a bad mood tonight, but everybody seemed a little off in their performances, even Clinkenbeard's Gohan. And Semi-Imperfect Cell just sounds annoying.

It's good to see Vegeta back to being his usual cocky self after that last pride beating. I really liked the voice work from both Schemmel and Sabat tonight, maybe it's because of the more relaxed, natural tone to things.

And while I like Clarke as Cell, his second form is my least favorite of the three voice rolls. This just makes me want all the more to see Perfect Cell arrive (I really did like that voice).
