Ick. lol Since none of this will happen this game anyway, you can desire that if you want, but it would annoy the hell out of me. I really dislike the golden/orange color for Super Saiyan hair, so I would prefer if it stayed pale like in RB1 or Super DBZ all the time. The hair can stay the solid pale color when not powered up, but start flashing the neon-ish yellow color when aura's are a blaze'n.
Lord help us ! Now we're getting anal with hair when really isn't anything wrong. -lolz- That would be a neat little feature, but not necessary. RB1's graphics where BLAH and empty. These graphics were made for DBZ, it's just right. The coloring and that manga-paper-texture looks like all of Akira Toriyama's colored-manga illustrations. The perfect marriage, honestly.

Frustrated with what's not even in your possession ? That's a BIT much. -lolz- As far as the scan, I knew the gameplay would be beefed up even more. Haven't seen much defense in the current videos, only some countering and evasions, can't wait to see what the 2 other gameply features can do. Shame on the common fools. You manage to acknoledge the fact that the game isn't out and claim to know how the gameplay is or will be, in the same post (and even defend something you don't have or know much of with a passion). Off that high horse of yours, now. Your posts are getting sickening with that "high and mighty" attitude of yours.

You can say I'm being anal about the hair, but that is my opinion, and I'm welcome to it just as you're welcome to yours.

There is nothing really wrong with the graphics for the game, and I've said that myself multiple times. The manga look is great and really makes some of the characters look amazing. Freeza is awesome, and even Broli looks good in the manga style despite being an anime exclusive, but the hair is hideous. The dark tone the hair currently has just doesn't give off the feeling of a golden glowing warrior (they made the auras better, but made the hair worse xD). The series itself clearly says the hair is golden, most of Toriyama's colorings show the hair as either a pale yellow or one more akin to a yellow tomato. The hair in this game looks more like brown mustard, and because of the shading style, often appears even darker than that. The dark version looks fine on Broli since his hair is supposed to be greenish anyway, but a lighter yellow, thinning the black lines, or changing up the shading on the hair would do wonders for the visual aesthetic for the form on other characters IMO.

Do I think it looks bad? Definitely. Should they change it? Maybe. Will they change it? Not likely. But according to the last interview from SDCC, you can change a characters hair and color (they didn't even mention making new characters), so if they don't change it, I'll do it myself...assuming there is an option for a paler yellow. xD

Agreed. I've had just about enough of your responses to anyone being critical of anything at all, Shin_Chou_Senshi. Since before you even had your forum account fully activated, every single bit of communication I've seen from you toward anyone has been confrontational, rude, and dismissive. You hide behind claims of EVERYONE ELSE being rude and overly critical, and yet fail to see how you're the one parading around that exact same attitude.

I'm done with it, the entire rest of the community is done with it, and any future infractions will be dealt with on an account level, up through and including termination.

If you have no interest in being polite and engaging on an equal level with your fellow fans, I don't even understand why you registered to be a part of this forum in the first place.

Oh come on, manga-like graphics? Really?

These graphics look NOTHING like the manga in style, at all. The heavy lines showed on the characters were in the anime too.

The coloring style is just the style of the game, which is different from both the manga and anime. A lot of HD games have these very dark palettes. For example the Hakuto no Ken game has a darker, more realistic design than either the anime or manga did to utilize the power of the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. It looks good, even though it isn't close to the source material by any means

The closest to we ever getting manga-like graphics are Super DBZ, which was designed intentionally to be based off the manga.

I think the closest to us getting true anime-esque graphics if it was developed by CyberConnect 2(the people responsible for the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games)

Yes, manga graphics. The usage of lines and shading resemble Toriyama's Kanzenban art fairly well, colors are still based on the anime for the most part though.

Not really. :/ I mean the Kanzenban art was certainly darker by every means, but this isn't even remotely in a similar style and I don't really think that's the intent. The characters are still modeled primarily by how they looked in the anime.

Of course they are modeled after how they looked in the anime. Spike's had a year to develop the game since RB2 and their contract runs out after this game, they don't have time to go back and change everything from the ground up. But the LINES and SHADING style definitely mirror the Kanzenban art for the characters, but I'm not even going to begin debating colors. Most of the colors are taken from the anime because the game features anime exclusive character from the movies and GT, but the actual choice of shades for the colors are obviously chosen to meet the visual aesthetic they were trying to achieve and not to replicate those from the anime or manga.

In short, if you took the colors out of the "lines" created by the character models and just had a flat image, it would pretty much mimic Toriyama's most recent style of lineart but not exactly his representations for the characters themselves.

They even said in the interviews that it's mostly manga inspired, with some anime elements put in.

I'm sorry but I'm not seeing it. Just because it's darker doesn't mean it resembles Toriyama's coloring from the Kanzenban. Toriyama's style is still prominently uses very colorful, clear backgrounds for example. This game more-so takes classic locations from the series and makes them look realistic, in the vein of the Hakuto no Ken game.

In short just because it's darker, doesn't mean it resembles the Kanzenban art. I would like for you guys to look at the Kanzenban art again before you suggest this, cause it literally has nothing in common with the design philosophy of this game.

There is no problem with that, however, it's just a factor that doesn't exist.

Why are you still talking about color, when I've clearly said that pretty much has nothing to do with what I'm talking about? I'm beginning to think you are barely reading my posts and only seeing what you want to. Yes they used darker color shades which give the game an overall darker tone. Said tone is vastly different than the one generated from the colors used for either the manga or anime, I've admitted that, so stop bringing it up.

The LINES, you know the things that outline the models in this game, they look like Toriyama's lineart from recent years. In previous games, the lines were thin and relatively unnoticeable. They were simply there to serve as a barrier between the colors and to help define certain areas, like wrinkles. In this game, the lines are very prominent. They are thick and appear to have variance in pressure at certain points, only truly thinning out when details call for it, like the lines on Freeza's face. Once again, this has NOTHING to do with color. It even looks like the pure black and white line art from the inside of the Kanzenban:
Image

The SHADING STYLE, while this could deal with color, that isn't the aspect I'm talking about. The way they have the lighting hitting the model in order to create shadows, which give the character depth, mimics the way Toriyama has shaded the art from the Kanzenban. I don't care if the people making the game colored Goku blue and used a used a pastel pallet to do it, the shading itself looks like Toriyama's (rather it be color or black and white):

One thing they did right or better is Vegeta's face. His eyes are rounder but has the small pupil, like how Toriyama draws it, like how it was in the early episodes.

Those evil eyes :D
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

These people need to play a game like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat where you have to press literally a million buttons to do an attack.

The aura's do look nice, and the raising of Ki effect when they stand on the ground looks really tight. Tiny little rocks are rising up into the air and if you look closely the energy seems to roll aross the ground in waves going really quite far from the characters. It gives a bigger sense of scale and power compared to what I remember Spike or Dimps having had done before.

The NUNS games look less like anime than Raging Blast 1 did. They just have to much bloom and oddities with textures. Honestly after seeing how Atlus some how manage to do amazing Anime graphics with Gamebryo I would love to see a DBZ game using that engine, it wouldn't cost much to license out. It's just that they would have to figure out how they managed those types of visuals with the Gamebryo engine.

I'm personally looking forward to the Character creator the most. I know some are iffy about it due to online play, but I basically don't have XBL anymore and even then wouldn't use custom characters in online play. I'm really liking the graphics of this too.

The graphics are awesome, but I'm not really sure how I feel about the gameplay :?
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

The graphics as I have said refer reminds me of clay models. Not that that is a bad thing. I wonder if they will dlc the character creator like extra clothes and stuffs, if they do it right then people will be throwing money at them.
