What's the big deal about no naked children and extreme blood? And the most DBZ gets to torture scenes is Frieza beating the shit out Vegeta, and that was left in tact IIRC. It doesn't need all of the crude humor to be good, and as Luke Groundwalker pointed out, that's only a problem with pre-existing footage - for a new series, it wouldn't be there in the first place, nor would it need to.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

What I would absolutely be in favor of are some new OVAs and/or movies. One coming out every couple years or so would be a perfect way to keep just enough fresh content to keep interest alive.

I still kinda want a Strong World level DB movie... :3
(Probably won't get it though.)

As for a new series? I'd only watch it if it stars characters from the current cast; I have no interest in Goku's great-great-great-great-great-great grandkids or any DBO OC's. >_>

I'd be all for it in the extremely super-unlikely event it could be done right.

We had the complete opposite thread a few weeks ago, and the notion of an MK9-style reboot came up. Again, if it could be done right...

What I heard about heroes, it's nothing like Online with storyline. So I don't understand some ideas to make it a series. It's like adapting Galaxy Mode from RB2 into series.

I think what I'd like to see are some movie-length Z's that are sorta like the style of the DB "Legend of Shenron" and "Mystical Adventure" movies; as in, they take the plot of an arc and most of the characters, rearrange or change certain elements (Without compromising the overall plot of the arc), add some original characters (actually, perhaps they could take the characters from the original-plot Z movies and integrate them into arcs somehow?), and re-do most of the battles with movie theatrics in mind, making for viewing some of the most iconic fights with more eye candy, more stuff being destroyed, and quicker pacing.

That probably isn't gonna happen, though, since it takes a few years for Toei to even do a half-hour special's worth of new footage.

No, the story has been stretched and stretched beyond breaking point.

However, smaller movies like maybe something on Freeza's past, I wouldn't mind.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

I wouldn't mind new dragonball at all. I would love more movies and adventures of Goku and friends. Maybe have some more side stories like they did with Bardock & Trunks. Maybe they can have a movie how Future Trunks continued in this time line. Maybe they could make a new anime based off the story on dragonball online, with a few tweaks here and there. But all I really want is that damn jump special dubbed!!! I want it on my shelf asap!

No, but seriously, although a new DB series would be great in theory, I think we have to wait for Kai to fade off a little bit more. But honestly, I'd only be interested if it had an all new set of characters, something that took places centuries after GT, because honestly, there's not much more that you can do with the original cast that wouldn't be boring, forced, and cookie cutter (SHAMELESS FANFIC PROMOTION #2). Either that, or an alternate universe mini-series, maybe something about Trunks traveling to the wrong time or something.
I could get behind that. Something like Point of No Return, Niteryde's awesome story about Trunks accidentally getting sent back to a time when Vegeta was still in Frieza's army.

I don't know if a show with an all new cast would work.... would people care? Would they still accept it as Dragonball without any of the characters we know and love around - especially Goku, who's always been at the heart of it all (even that horrendously dull GT movie squeezed him in at the end)?

Some of the best parts of GT (IMO) were the rare intimate moments of the characters' lives that we got to see, Vegeta's 'moostache' and moments with his daughter, Goten's girl drama, etc, etc. Likewise, the most memorable moments of that 2008 special didn't come from the fight (not that Abo and Cado were to be taken seriously anyway), rather from Goku and Vegeta's antics, introducing Tarble and Gure, Goku and Chi Chi farming, Bulma and Vegeta's little spat over Trunks, stuff like that. So call me crazy but... I wouldn't mind seeing a more slice of life oriented series. A much heard complaint about Dragonball is that it's too short on character development so, why not?

Of course Dragonball is about fighting, so there'd be plenty of that too. The series could take place a few years after the end of Z (so yeah, GT would be out), Goku and Uub have returned from their rigorous training a couple of months before the next Budokai. They decide to test their strength in the ring and Goku invites the others to join them. Vegeta, always training and ever curious to see if his power matches to Goku's (though no longer bitter and obsessed about it), accepts and probably drags Trunks into it, and makes him take up training seriously again. Eventually the others decide to enter as well and start their own training. Even those who are no longer interested in fighting or could never keep up with the Saiyans have a go, for old time's sake.

It wouldn't be as epic, life-or-death dramatic as facing a new enemy but we'd see a lot of interesting fights from characters who rarely get their due. And more female fights! 18, Pan, and Videl would be there. I'd like to imagine Bra competing too. Sure, she showed no interesting in fighting but, who knows? She was still young when we saw her at the end of Z and I'm sure Vegeta eventually taught her something. Oh, and I think Chi Chi could be convinced to enter the ring too, heh. In between all that, we'd get to see the characters' home lives and how they interact with their families and the world without the threat of impending doom.

Or something like that, you get my drift...

Heh, funnily enough, the Trunks suggestion actually was inspired by Point Of No Return. That fic is fucking awesome.

A slice of life show would be cool too. The more grumpy Vegeta, the better.

I'd be up for a Brotherhood/Hellsing Ultimate type of thing, but it's got to have those high production values or else there's no point.

Nope. I can't see a new series going well.

Perhaps some new theatrical films, though....that'd be nice.

A new series could do better then DBkai since it will be something new and different. DBkai is just the same story that we seen many times before, it was nothing really new and I can see why it did not last one since I don't many fans care for it.

In Shin Budokai 2 for PSP, the story mode is actualy how Boo came in Trunks' timeline, with cameos of Bardock, Paikuhan, Future Gohan (SSJ2 and Ultimate), Coola, Metal Coola, Broly and Janemba. Shin Budokai 1 also is a retelling of the Janemba movie, placing it after Boo's death and reveals some neat abilities for Janemba. They sould make OVAs about those 2 games.

Here is what I found: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7WCMJ0DJ
No it is NOT fanfiction, I have played the games so yeah, this is not fake.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Oh god no. No more Dragon Ball shit. Only Toryiama did it right. The story has been dragged out in the worst way possible already. It doesn't need to be butchered anymore. The only thing they could do is try and pick up where Z left off, and retry what GT failed at. This means having the other characters who achieved greatness by the end of Z take the lead or maybe fight alongside Goku and Vegeta. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Uub should all be able to fight at the same level now; it shouldn't just be Goku going through reused plot devices. I can't accept GT as a continuation of Z. It is just too terrible. I really hope they try again.

I'd like to clear a lot of things and forgive me for grammar. I'd LOVE to see a new Dbz series.
1st, filler is good. W/o filler the tv series would be a lil too short. Like in Kai all the filler is cut out, which means episodes are not the same, if filler is cut then side-fights would be gone for ex. Garlic jr saga, Freeza v Nail, etc. Also in Kai a lot of the explanations are cut out. Some flashbacks and the episodes where there is no major fights like when Goku and Piccolo get their drivers license lol good times. Or that funny episode when Goku, Goten and Trunks are in the hot tub Goten and Trunks fuse haaaaaaha that was funny filler.
2nd, the animation is good for DBZ. No other anime has that style of artwork and animation that dbz put out there. like Naruto and One Piece have a different animation than DBZ. If the new stem of DBZ were to come out, changing the to a naruto style animation would be ludacriss. It wouldnt be the same, I mean thats wat we grew up on . Right?
3rd, In my opinion the story of the new Dragonball/Dragonball z/DBGT should go to the starting point of the Saiyan's beginning and work its way up to the death of Bardock. It sould have an explanation of the Saiyans, and actually begin the main story with a main protaganist, someone like Goku's ancestor great[6x] grampa. Starting a lil before Freeza joining the Saiyans. Or the story can consist of Goku going back in time to meet Bardock. Or the story can be if Bardock didn't die by Freeza, and Bardock escaped and Bardock has his own storyline. The story could continue from Hero's Legacy and have a huge story following all the way till lil Goku gets old.
There are many ways to make a new DB manga or show. All though new characters would [for the most part] be needed.
What the fuck is a gag character. And vegetto is not the strongest. Broly is!

No new Dragon Ball shit, but try again with GT. Dragon Ball deserves a better ending.
