Based on Bardock's comment, I guess we can assume that even in this universe he gained the ability to see the future somewhat. It'll be interesting to see how this version of him works out, but I'm more interested in the shadowed guy from that Universe.

Actually, just because of this chapter, Universe 3 has become one of the ones I'm most interested in (along with Universes 2 and 9).

Yeah, I really enjoyed the dialogue between the two. I like the fact that Raditz hates his father. No tearful reunion here.

I really like the armor they designed for Bardock here.

Why? Wouldn't a space warrior that takes what he wants by murdering people and lives for fighting talk a little "rough" when faced with such a situation?

Especially since the Japanese don't actually have swear words like we do, so their rough manner of speaking can be translated by adding some swearing.

And its not like he is even swearing all that much...

A lot of people like Bardock's armor design but to me it doesn't look that much different from the usual Saiyan armor except with maybe a few cracks in it and no wing like shoulder pads.

The shoulders make it look pretty different. Its a simple modification that actually looks very good, in my opinion.

EDIT:

Btw, with this coloring, Cold's design becomes awesome, in my opinion:

It fixes pretty much all I didn't like about it. Even the shoulder "orbs" look good now, since he actually looks like both his sons.

Here I'm comparing Raditz to the Toriyama counterpart.

And I was talking about the Radditz of the real manga. My description fits both.

I really hope that Radditz is about to lose, becomes angry, and becomes a Super Saiya-jin. And when he eventually loses after all, he thanks his father for this last gift.
I am a cheesy fella, I know.

I agree, Bardock's shoulderpads are just altered enough to be interesting looking compared to the normal ones. And that coloring of final form Cold makes it look a LOT better.

I feel sorry for Raditz , he just cant be happy ,period. Even Yamcha scored here , but nope Raditz still gets his ass kicked.

Still I kinda want this figh to end quickly.

Also that coloring of Cold is gorgeous.

This page reads like it came straight out of DBZ Abridged.

I'm starting to think that maybe U3 really is a "Movieverse" or something because of Bardock's comment to Raichi. If Raichi's future is what it sounds like, namely the events of Plan To Eradicate the Saiyans playing out, then it would have to be a movieverse since that particular story depends on Movies 3 and 4 happening, which would be outright impossible in U18. No amount of fudging could get them to fit. Of course, Freeza would also have to have been involved somehow...which is weird.

What's even weirder is that if U3 involves all the movies happening, that means that in U18 the movie characters would probably exist somewhere, just having not encountered Goku for whatever reason.

Something interesting about this. It means that Saiyans actually do value some semblance of compassion and familial relationships if Bardock being a jerkass is enough to set Raditz off like that.

I didn't think of it that way. Though it could also have something to do with the line about Bardock having risen from a low-level to an Elite status. Maybe in U13, after he became an Elite, Bardock disowned his sons for not doing the same...or something.

I just figured that Raditz must be comparing Bardock to something in order to conclude he got a raw deal. If all Saiyan fathers universally had a habit of treating their sons like shit, either for being weak or just because, then I doubt he would expect otherwise from Bardock or be especially bothered by it.

In the movie, it seems clear that Bardock values power very highly given how quickly he dismissed Goku when he saw his power level, and he also seems to be a particularly detached father (even by Saiyan standards) since even his team mates asked him if he was going to see his kid and he pretty much didn't seem to care at all.

So, I believe that Bardock is particularly bad as a father even in the movie.

Which is one of the reasons why this dialog seems spot on to me.
