Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
What's funny though is, considering how pissed off he got when Dodoria bumped off his crew, Bardock showed that he values his comrades on an emotional level rather than just a pragmatic "need battle companions" one. And I'm going to take a wild guess that they were all significantly weaker than he was. So I'm not entirely sure where this "weakling Raditz" is coming from.
I always pegged the Saiyans as being perfectly capable of showing common human emotions. They just really, really don't like that they are and, culturally speaking, downplay it. Kinda like Spartans or something.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
He probably resents his sons for being weak because of the fact that they're his. He has higher expectations than them than for his teammates, so discovering that they don't meet them makes him feel shamed.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Good points, Tony and rere. I think I was just overthinking that line now. ^_^;
As for Bardock's strength, there was some line about him growing close to surpassing King Vegeta, but I don't remember it from my last watching so it must have been a dub line...hmm...can't remember for sure though.
I got that feeling too. Not as powerfully in the sub as the dub (they probably trumped it up even further to fit with this 'tragic hero' thing they were trying to show him as becoming), but he was still showing more emotion at their deaths than he did at the birth of his son.TonyTheTiger wrote:What's funny though is, considering how pissed off he got when Dodoria bumped off his crew, Bardock showed that he values his comrades on an emotional level rather than just a pragmatic "need battle companions" one. Well, King Vegeta was said to be weak - Vegeta surpassed him as a kid and Bardock was said to be approaching 10,000. I wouldn't be surprised if he was already stronger than the King.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Guess I should have held my tongue....So should we just assume from here on out that ANY Saiyan without a tail can go Super Saiyan? Ya know besides our Universes Bra and Pan?
Loved the banter between the two..pretty much made this page.
So so so sooooooooo glad we're done without that shitty special and back to what is good about this comic...just needed to say that

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I'm more curious about how all these Saiyans are losing their tails in the first place. U13 Vegeta and Kakarot also don't have tails while Nappa and Raditz do.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
You think they would have guessed by now that if they wanted to exceed the next level they would have at least snipped their tails by now.TonyTheTiger wrote:I'm more curious about how all these Saiyans are losing their tails in the first place. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
What does snipping off your tail have to do with becoming super saiyan? Just because everyone who turned super saiyan had no tail at the time doesn't mean you need to remove it.
Someone was theorizing about Bardock saying all those jerkass stuff to piss Raditz off so he could become super saiyan...

Thats probably because whoever said that likes Bardock and doesn't realize that he actually is kind of a jerk.Son Goshen wrote:

As for the tails thing, they probably lost it in battle and then they became Super Saiyans and it never grew back because of it. Even in normal conditions, the tail can take years to grow back, so they didn't have to become SSJ right after losing it.
I do wonder however if Salagir thinks that having a tail tail would actually prevent a Saiyan from becoming SSJ, when he normally would achieve it or if would just fall off or something

Of course, it's awfully convenient that the two Saiyans without tails in U13 also happen to be the ones who lack them in U18.rereboy wrote:As for the tails thing, they probably lost it in battle and then they became Super Saiyans and it never grew back because of it. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I like how everyone complained he looked too much like Freeza when it was in black and white, but nobody's complaining about how he looks too much like Cooler now.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
He doesn't, in my opinion.batistabus wrote:I like how everyone complained he looked too much like Freeza when it was in black and white, but nobody's complaining about how he looks too much like Cooler now.
His head is pretty much like Freeza's, even though he has Coola's color scheme and has a similar forehead to Coola's (but that counts as Cold's facial features I believe), and he has a kind of chest armor like Coola's, but it follows his body much more closely than Coola's, body which is greatly like Freeza's, only with more muscles, and he has all the "orbs" that Freeza has and Cooler doesn't.

In these two images we can see that it combines nicely Freeza's head with Coola's color scheme and Cold's facial expression. Coola's head in itself is pretty different from Freeza's and this "true form" Cold.
In this we can see Coola's chest armor and even though Cold's looks pretty similar, its not as "buff" as Coola's, following his body more closely and approaching Freeza's body.
And we can also see that Cold is missing almost all of Freeza's orbs, while Cold has them.
The muscles are obviously from Cold himself and not from his sons.
So overall, I think it combines nicely all three. Without this color scheme its just looked way too much like Freeza. With it, we can actually see Coola in there effortlessly as well as Freeza. It actually looks like a nice mixture between them.
And also, it looks better than before, which is also very important.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Personally I thought it was a good mix from the beginning, but I've always thought it looked more like Coola than Freeza. The only thing exclusively Freeza-like (and I'm going to disagree with you) are the orbs (I think the head orb looks more like Coola's) and the ears. The colors (which is a large part of it), the natural body armor, and the face are all more defining and belong to Cooler as well.
But this is a pointless argument, as I don't care either way and I like the design.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Without someone who can point the body structure, at first glance, the colors make him look like Cooler.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Does it really matter what he looks like at first glance? I mean, if you're taking the time to discuss the design, you obviously spent a lot of time looking at it, unless you're just a windbag who likes to talk a lot.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Damn it, i called he'd go Super Saiyan in 3 pages, i'm losing bets with myself, how sad is that? lol
I love how they added a Raditz joke in there
Did they do the same for Yamcha?
PS: When i saw that color design at first glance, i thought "Why does he look like Coola there?" Upon closer look is seems like a mix, but at first glance....it makes Freeza seem adopted lol

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
With Freeza's color scheme it would be even worse, you'd hardly see any Coola in there at all. It would just look like Freeza with Cold's muscles and his facial expression... The only thing that would look like Coola would be his chest armor, but even that is very toned down in the design.
Kind of like this but all white (no purple):

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I like the way North Kaioshin is coloured in that page though I´d make him a little more bluish, I always though the anime colours of North West and South kaioshin looked weird.
As for Cold,...well, he kinda startles me with an all white head, but oh well..

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I really don't see the problem with Cold's 4th Form looking like Frieza's - his second form was basically a pallete swap of Frieza's second form anyways.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Well, if he at least didn't have the shoulder orbs like he didn't have in his second form (and Freeza did), I wouldn't complain since he was actually very similar to Freeza in his second form (ergo...)jjgp1112 wrote:I really don't see the problem with Cold's 4th Form looking like Freeza's - his second form was basically a pallete swap of Freeza's second form anyways.
But since he had those, he was even more similar to Freeza than we should expect (if he shares Freeza's color scheme. With another color scheme, like Coola's, that problem goes away).
