What's the deal with The Genki Dama?
I have been viewing the series and it states that the Genki Dama only takes a "fraction" of your ki or in other words, the basic part of your ki. Well later on at the final battle with Chibi Boo, Vegeta and Goku clearly state that they will take "as much as they can possibly give", and also this time, they raise their hands unlike before when the ki from their bodies just leaves them without notice along with mother Earths natural things like water and grass which all of that only took a "portion". Well my question is that is it possible that the Super Genki Dama against Chibi Boo actually took the majority of the people's ki including Ultimate Gohan's? And why did the people raise their hands this time? Could it be possible that raising your hand releases the majority of ones ki? because if this is the case, then Gohan is clearly weaker than Chibi Boo! I mean the people of earth and even the Namekians and kaioshins were shown exhausted after releasing their Ki.

That's not the case. As Goku explained to Vegeta, as soon as you are revived you aren't with your full power.

Also Goten and Trunks didn't performed the fusion or anything, so it's unlikely Gohan was in his Ultimate Warrior state.

So could it be that Gohan still possessed his Ultimate potential from within after being revived but it takes time to bring your full Ki back to normal?
Re: What's the deal with The Genki Dama?
I don't see any reason why not. Especially considering Goku thought of bringing Gohan or Gotenks to fight.
Re: What's the deal with The Genki Dama?
I always thought that the reason why Vegeta never got his full strength back was because he just got his ass beat by Buu while dead, and just because it brought him back to life, doesn't mean it restored his body's strength.Fox666 wrote:That's not the case. Gohan and the others had their bodies vaporized, so Vegeta still was in a better condition.

I think it's worth noting that Goku transformed into SSj3 on Earth just moments after having his life restored to him.
Who knows, that might have been completely different, though.

There is also the fact that a fighter's ki is made up of different parts: genki, yuuki, shouki, etc., and the attack is called the GENKI Dama. The attack is very likely to only be collecting the genki portion of the people's energy, though since they say they are taking everything the people can give, they take the maximum amount possible before people would start dying from loss of their life energy/vigor/healthiness/whatever.
Re: What's the deal with The Genki Dama?
This is how I saw it, too. The Genki Dama normally takes a fraction of genki from everything. The Super Genki Dama, on the other hand, is formed using as much genki as can safely be donated by a person, but the catch is they have to raise their hands and give it willingly. Even if Gohan was incredibly strong, his genki alone might not be enough; it's only one of the things that makes up his total power.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:There is also the fact that a fighter's ki is made up of different parts: genki, yuuki, shouki, etc., and the attack is called the GENKI Dama. By all means he wasn't. You can see that only by looking at him. It's unclear if he could have powered up or not, though, like when he started rushing towards Evil Boo. But if others couldn't transform into Super Saiyan, it makes sense for Gohan to have similar problem at the time.Fox666 wrote:it's unlikely Gohan was in his Ultimate Warrior state.

I never viewed as genki, and "ki"as the same thing. Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks would have suficed had genki and Ki being one in the same. I think of it as a life-force, and not standard battle power.

Re: What's the deal with The Genki Dama?
I think that is why the Genki Dama against Buu was categorized as the Chou Genki Dama. The plain old one takes just a little involuntarily while that one took nearly all of it voluntarily.OWmyDragonBallz wrote:I have been viewing the series and it states that the Genki Dama only takes a "fraction" of your ki or in other words, the basic part of your ki. Genki is a category of ki. If it gathers genki, it gathers ki. If you don't care about stuff like character traits and mean to talk specifically about the juice that the characters run on that determines how strong they are then thinking in terms of just the genki works.
And it is easy for those of us who follow the Gohan-is-da-strongest-no-matter-what-anything-says cult to make up something to cover anything that disagrees with our religion. Since Gohan had enough power in his just his pinky finger to destroy Buu over a dozen times, his energy obviously was far more than enough to destroy Buu. The reason Goku said it wasn’t is because he is a sadistic bastard that takes delight in watching Vegeta suffer. You could tell he loved every second of Vegeta getting his ass kicked just before then, and so he pretended it wasn’t enough just so he would have an excuse to watch Vegeta suffer even more. Goku is such a cruel sadist!

I agree, this is how I've always viewed it.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:There is also the fact that a fighter's ki is made up of different parts: genki, yuuki, shouki, etc., and the attack is called the GENKI Dama. Nah, Gohan was very clearly in his Ultimate state when he was revived on Earth(and for the rest of the series).hleV wrote:By all means he wasn't. You can see that only by looking at him.
