Unintentionally Funny Moments

Post by DragonBoxZTheMovies » Sat Jul 30, 2011 12:53 am

Not sure if we've had a thread like this before, but anyway, I decided to make this thread after watching DBZKai ep 53. For whatever reason I laughed my arse off when the 'Grand Elder' dies and Gohan says, "No, after everything we've been through" and it plays one clip of him giving Gohan his power up and that's it. Two other instances of me laughing at the wrong times was when Gohan is healed by Dende and he joins Vegeta and Kuririn in the fight and they Ki spam Freeza. The other time is from DBZ Movie 6 when all the robots start firing at Piccolo.

I'm not sure if the Russian roulette scene in the Princess Snake episode was intended to be funny or not but I laughed at it.

When Freeza taunts Goku about Krillin, his response (in a Gary Coleman-esqe way to me) gave me a good chuckle.

SSJ Goku: Are you talking about Krillin? ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT KRILLIN?!

Oh man, way too Speed Racer there, Vegeta...

I sometimes laugh when I read Goku saying "That's what she said." in the Viz translation of the manga, even though it's not in the context that you're thinking of.

It didn't help that the first time i read that in english, it was just that one page here on the forum

But yeah, for those who don't know, in Volume 1 Chapter 9, Goku shows Oolong his Dragon Ball while Bulma's taking a shower. But we get this one panel where Oolong recaps that you get a wish if you gather all 7 balls, to which Goku says in response: "That's what she said"
*I'd scan it, but i only have the portuguese version*

Freeza getting sliced by his own ki discs always struck me as funny. I enjoy it on a "Mutant clone Broli"-level of humiliation lol. (Seems like the kinda stuff that would be shown on Space-Failblog)

My God has Chris Sabat improved, this does not even seem like the same voice actor! I really wish Schemmel re-dubbed his season 3 lines for the Orange Brick :x ...

I like the Season set redub version better:

"I'm not going to let this shake my composure....DAMMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!"
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Haha, talks like Cartman: They gonna paaaaaay fooor thhhis! :D
Wow, I don't even remeber the dub being this bad. It must have really improved when they reached Buu arc.

Actually, I'd say the point they really improved was somewhere in the middle of the Android Saga. There was still some dumb stuff here and there, things like really corny lines and all that, but that's around the time when they really started getting better. Funnily enough, just from what I've observed, a really good way to tell which stage in the dub's evolution you're in is to listen to Vegeta's voice. The lower and deeper it is, the better the dub has gotten....

But yeah, they did have a bit of a rocky start...

I always thought the look on Piccolo's face after his initial attack on Raditz doesn't do anything was pretty funny.

My girlfriend and I discovered this the other day, as we were going through the series.

Watch episodes 53 and 54 with FUNimation's subtitles, and replace any reference to "ki," "battle power," "hidden power," "strength," etc, with "penis." This generally works well for the entire Namek arc, when everyone's throwing out power references right and left, but it's particularly hilarious in these two episodes.

It is. I promise. It'd do Toriyama proud.

Oh, and obviously this.

A lot of what Goku says or does during the first 13 episodes of Dragonball I find funny.

I also laughed at that shriek Yamucha's seiyuu does when Bulma jumps into the car with him in Ep 10.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.
