Least favorite filler?
Re: Least favorite filler?
Damn, I wasn't aware of how much filler was in OG Dragon Ball, and how much they were integrated into the plot. Like, how all of Pilaf's appearance prior to them stealing the Dragon Balls were just filler, and so on. While DBZ had filler, they were more of just side stories while they cut away from the main stuff. But I didn't know that stuff like Ox-King's wedding arrangements, or Goku's quest to the Holy Water were filler.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

God, yeah, I forgot about that one. I skip it now.episode 102: "Let's Get it On!! Two Remain On a Vanishing Planet"
I'm surprised at the hate for the inside Boo stuff. I found it hilarious especially Vegeta's reaction to some of the things- like the big worm creature thingys.
I actually didn't mind the filler with Silver and the monkeys, Ginyu Special Corps on Kaio's planet, Space Orphans and yeah... Same goes for Bulma and Ginyu- I love Ginyu and his seiyuu so more Ginyu is cool for me.
Oh and Kaio repeating himself was fucking awful.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Re: Least favorite filler?
I do love filler but I got to say being a Yamcha fan, my least favourite filler is most of the "playboy" filler with him (EG. the one with the gym babes in the Trunks saga) *gets hit by rocks*
Wishes she can change her name to YamchaFan (her name everywhere else)

Re: Least favorite filler?
The only filler that comes to mind that I really liked was the one where Gohan befriends that robot stuck in the cave as well as when he tries to save those orphan kids from the people wanting to take them to an orphanage.. The early filler episodes weren't so bad, IMO.
But the ones I really don't like whatsoever are the ones where Gohan goes to high school and the Super Saiyaman episodes. They're so boring and horribly made.. At least the ones I stated above had some kind of story behind it and they were touching, it showed you how Gohan matured and stopped being a total crybaby in order to fight the saiyans. But these later filler episodes are simply there to waste time. Not even slightly interesting.

Re: Least favorite filler?
The filler episode with Lime is pretty bad. Seemed like innocent enough filler until I read a Gohan/Lime slash fic... Burn that shit with fire! Mr. Satan and his friends during the Cell Games are extremely irritating too.
This is the episode of when Gokuh enrages himself after Freezer talk shit about Kuririn

Re: Least favorite filler?
My least favorite are when Super Saiyan 3 Goku fights Super Buu with Gotenks absorbed, the whole fake Namek and lost kids in space crap, the Popo fighting Trunks and Goten filler.

Paikuhan vs. Cell
I hate it when they bring a powerful villain back to hype up the new guy, especially when it's a couple of episodes after he dyes.

I hate chilish fillers, like Gohan's adventures in Saiyan arc, the adventures on the way to Namek, Bulma's advendures in Namek and every filler that Goku/Gohan/anyone meets a little boy/girl with his/her poor dad/granddad. I'm embaraced when watching those.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Also how are they childish? Just cause they meet some kids doesn't inherently make it childish.
I don't even recall any kids during Bulma's adventures on Namek or fake Namek. Heck, the only children Gohan met during his training were the orphans. Although that was a bad filler not all of it was like that, and I really some of it. Like the episodes with his Robot friend or Dinosaur friend.
If you're not here soon... GET ON!
Re: Least favorite filler?
It's got to be fake Namek. 2 episodes... how is it only 2 episodes?! It seems so much longer.

Am I going crazy?
I don't remember a single one of these fillers... not the space orphans, fake Namek, Bulma vs crab, Popo vs Trunks etc.
Except for the Garlic Jr. saga (which I didn't mind, tbh).
We are talking about Dragonball Z filler right? Because it would explain a lot if it was GT filler. I've not watched GT in about 10 years... (I should rewatch it now.)

Anyone watch the filler I mentioned in full?
Just curious cause that one stroke me as REALLY bad at what it does. At least the ones listed here have some sort of plot.

Re: Least favorite filler?
I have just recently watched the ending of Dragon Ball and I really do not like the Goku-Chi Chi epilogue filler. Those five episodes just seem endless! It is a wonder to me as how Gyumao did not end up burned alive when all that was through.
I can seriously say watching that last episode put me in a bad mood, that's how fat of a cock it sucked... Gohan and that Anine bitch came across as more of unlikeable duo than Freeza and Cell in hell. That episode just did not make any sense, Anine just randomly swings her sword at Goku and he retaliates my punching her in the gut and Gohan scolds him for being so impolite... Well fuck you then Gramps!

That's why after episode 148 (the last part of the Goku and Piccolo fight), I skip to the beginning of Dragonball Z.

Re: Least favorite filler?
You Americans made DBZ a children's TV show. Animes like Dragon Ball are ment for teens, from 14 years old and so on. And how is it for kids? Because it is animated? It has A LOT of inappropriate content, both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Is cursing and bitching in almost every episode for kids? Is a hole in the stomach full with blood, while he is throwing up blood for kids? Is cutting a human's hand without anesthicia for kids? Is a perverted old man reading porn magazines, and touching a woman's breasts or butt, or even placing his face between a woman's breasts for a "puff-puff" for kids? And middle fingers too? Are you SERIOUS!?AgitoZ wrote:You're embarrassed by childish filler in a children's TV show?
But of course, Funimation did a greeeeat job, Bardock is a brilliant scientist after all!

Re: Least favorite filler?
Ignorance. Cultural differences. The series was created in Japan, where all the content you brought up is(or was, they have been getting a little stricter) appropriate for young children. The country as a whole is a littler more liberal than what we are, what with the soccer mom debacle's every few years or so fueling the FCC (At least for the franchise. There are probably soccer mom incidents much more frequent than that for series and TV in general, I don't keep up with this stuff all that much.) Dragon Ball IS a kids show...Funimation just reversioned the series into what would be considered appropriate for a kids show in the US. (Not that I think that was right, but that's another subject entirely.)DBZGTKOSDH wrote:You Americans made DBZ a children's TV show. In my country, the DVDs say it's for ages 14 and up, and it's not even the Japanese version, and no, it's not bitching (I'm from Greece, but I don't support the Greek dub, guess who are Songotrunks and VegetagokuTheDevilsCorpse wrote:Dragon Ball IS a kids show

Re: Least favorite filler?
Dragon Ball WAS meant for Japanese children. The standards in Japan were much different in the late 80s/early 90s, which is why DBZ was the way it was. FUNimation of course edited the show to fit the standards set for American children when it aired on Cartoon Network. DBZ is a children's cartoon, plain & simple. Just because the uncut version doesn't meet the standards of other countries doesn't make that any different.

Dragon Ball originally was a children show, however the age group increased as the chapters passed.

Least favorite filler... Oh boy, where do we begin?
Well Ginyu Special Corps going up to Kaio's planet was horrific. And I hated everything that dragged out the Red Ribbon arc (Goku meeting up with Chichi and Gyumao, etc.).
Even though it made no sense, I actually did like the Other World stuff (the Tournament and then even Yamucha sparring). It made zero sense, but was just fun for me to watch.
