When watching (or reading) Dragon Ball for the first time, did you ever find yourself just asking "...why not just do ...."?
I remember when they were talking about the Z Sword trapped in the mountain in the Kaioshin world, suggesting only a warrior of legendary strength could remove it.... I always thought to myself "You guys are insanely strong, just destroy the friggin' mountain!".
You guys ever feel this way about any scenes? Share'em! I'd love to get a funny thread going.

Yes. I definitely thought just that. But that's a King Arthur reference, and whatever. Unless the rocks were so unbelievably powerful in the Kaioshin world that Gohan, or anyone else could just destroy the rock around the Z Sword, then it shouldn't be a problem. But yeah, it's happened a few times. No other things come to mind right now, but I've had those moments every now and then.

Don't let transformations happen, Vegeta. Seriously. He made that mistake at least -twice-, first to Freeza's first form (DARING him to transform.), and then to Cell's not-quite-perfect form.
Oh, and earlier on in the series, Piccolo says there's no way they can catch Raditz off-guard due to his scouter, yet at that precise moment Radtiz is under the belief that his scouter is malfunctioning, and was almost ready to discard it before the two fighters jump in head-on to attack. A good ol' tail-grab + Makankosoppo from behind could've ended the fight without anyone dying or the Saiyans learning about the Dragon Balls, getting incentive to head down to earth (although they might have wanted to anyway just for finding out what happened to Raditz.).
Kuririn should've also kept his cool after Yamcha fell to a Saibaiman, and kept the fights going one-on-one, so that by the time Goku arrived Nappa wouldn't have been as likely to have slain Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu and Piccolo already. Doing a hot-headed quick kill when the plan was to pad for time was very costly. (on that note, while it appears that Gohan acting too scared to fight Nappa is played out to be a sort of "You should have acted differently here" scenario, it's doubtful that would've made a difference, really.)
Goku being a showoff also cost him when Ginyu did the Change technique.
Also from around the same timeframe, just why to Nail -tell- Freeza he was just distracting him in the end? While it might've felt good to give Freeza a final "fuck you" before he was expecting to be killed off, he risked the group's safety there by basically sending Freeza right back after them a lot sooner than if Freeza was oblivious until the sky turned dark.

Either Kami-sama or Mr.Popo should had teleported Goku to the battlefield when he just arrived to Kami's palace.
I've always wondered why Piccolo didn't regenerate his arm against Raditz.. was it because he didn't have enough time/power?
Goku could had saved a lot of time when he didn't waste minutes on talking to Gohan and friends, then teleport to Kaio and afterwards teleport back to Earth. Hello Earth, goodbye Kaio.

With all the "hiding ki" in the Namek arc, I'm surprised Goku and Piccolo didn't fly slower to hide their ki.

I always assumed that at that point he decided to die aswell, since he explained later that it's better if he's gone.

Just coming off the Trunks vs Freeza episode the other night, I thought that flying in general would set the Scouters off.

Not sure if should just consider this silly GT, but I don't get why they couldn't just gather the earth Dragon Balls and wish for it not to explode, wait a year, and wish Goku back to being an adult.

I thought the same thing. We know the terrain can be destroyed on the Kaioshin planet based on the fight with Buu. My conclusion is that they probably could have blasted the mountain apart, but the sword would still be encased in some amount of the remaining rock, like a sword in the stone. This remaining stone would be magically enhanced and would only break apart with a SSJ's level of power.

Not to mention, when Radditz's scouter first found Piccolo and Goku, they both weren't doing anything, yet it still picked up on their power levels.

Well, to be fair, even if they weren't exerting energy, they had no reason to actually suppress their power. I mean, before that point, what were the chances that a space pirate with a computerized eye-patch was going to come looking for high energy readings?

Well yeah, but I meant to say was, that if the scouter can pick up energy while the subjetc is inactive there is no way it wouldn't when it was flying. I think surpressing energy only works when the subject is still and is willingly pushing his power level down. Or depending on the type of activity he is performing. I suppose they could keep the PL as low a possible when walking or something like that, but flying automatically implies a burst of energy higher than average.
Also I can't remember if they ever pushed it so far down that it didn't register with the scouter. at all. It seemed to me that the scouter could pick up on the energy of almost any living being, it's just the level that set them apart.

I thought Vegeta said something about them being able to lower their ki all the way down to zerp, but if not, then I don't think there is any real way of telling. We only ever really see and hear the characters talk about the scouters being set off by bursts of energy because it would be useless to keep making notes about every living thing it senses. I could definitely have seen that being an Abridged moment though, have Dodoria flying around going "Duck. Duck. Space duck. Dinosaur. Fish. Fish. Fish. Fish. Frog..." or something.

Yeah he said that, but he was using ki sensing not a scouter.

I always just assumed they didn't blast the mountain because it was...ya know...their holy-can't-be-seen-by-ungodly-eyes-godly realm.

Apparently they were unable to pick Kuririn or Gohan at all with the Scouter. But I don't believe they can just turn off their Ki, probably they can set their battle power at 0.1 which is the same Ki of a rat or a frog.
When Gohan was angered for the namekians being Slaughtered, Dodoria picked-up him in the Scouter and said something like "it may be just an insect" or something on that line. Also when they were trying to hide in the cave from Vegeta, Vegeta still could sense Dende's Ki but when a whale showed up he just ignored it.
When Kuririn was taking Gohan to visit Saichourou, Vegeta managed to detect them in the way. But it may be just that it's too hard to contain the Ki for days.

I don't understand this one; they had no way of knowing that Raditz's scouter was crapping out on him, and they tried the plan you suggested; it didn't work because Goku was gullible and let go when Raditz said he would change, and from that point on he had his tail wrapped around his waist like a belt.
The one thing I've always wondered is, why didn't Piccolo just grab Gohan and get him out of the way of Nappa's blast? He was standing in front of him for like 10 seconds before he got hit.
This will never not be my sig:
VegettoEX wrote:"Snoop Lion" is just a character he's playing for his reggae album and documentary. Him saying that it's his new name is all part of the character.
I can't believe this is on-topic.

He spent so much time trying to train Gohan to learn how to dodge, that he forgot how to do it himself. I guess Gohan ended up teaching him more than how to luv... lol

Say what you will about how dangerous a stunt like this would be, but it's always bothered me that Popo or somebody didn't just quickly warp Dende in to heal Gohan for that final confrontation with Cell, after his arm got all busted up and everything.
Drat Popo and his magical warping carpet, it creates so many missed plot conveniences.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.
