Show us ya AMV's

Post by dylanmorgan17 » Sat Jul 02, 2011 10:04 am

This is my first one ever! It is a montage of the bond between Gohan and Piccolo set mostly during the Garlic Junior arc.

I have shown mine and I'd love to see yours.

I would love to show you mine. I made a really awesome one but it's on my other computer's hard drive, so I have no access to it at the moment. If I ever get it back, I'll post it here :)

I'm going to give you a little constructive criticism if you don't mind. You clearly have the tools to make something, and the drive... Therefore it's no stretch to say that you are capable of much better. First and foremost, I don't get the connection with the song. It didn't seem to have much to do with the footage other than the single line "because you beat me in a battle back when I was young." Otherwise it was typical self-serving ego rap with some DBZ clips. The use of repeated clips is also a no-no. There were several which you played twice in the video (Gohan impaling Garlic, Piccolo splitting into four). The clips didn't make much sense sequentially either. It didn't seem like there was any connection from one scene to another.

I see that you had a bit of a vision for the video; you wanted to highlight the bond between Gohan and Piccolo. But I didn't pick up on this while watching the AMV. You might try some fading tricks or maybe showing some interactions between the characters. Picking a more appropriate song might help to drive that point home too. Having a solid vision for your video is a step above what most people set out with when making these types of videos. It just didn't seem to shine trough in the final product. Good effort, but the end result wasn't anything spectacular. Check out VegettoEX's AMV Guide. Its a good starting point from a guy who does (did?) this kind of thing a lot. It certainly helped me a lot. You can also check out my Piccolo/Gohan AMV where I attempted to highlight the growing bond between these characters as well.

Good ol' Enter The Monkey, a trailer AMV, is the only one worth showing that I've got to my name, really. I've been working on another, much bigger AMV project here and there for the past two years, and there's a few preview clips for that on my Youtube as well.

That's so frickin awesome. Especially baby Goku kicking Gohan. Oh, and the "checking out the babes" part.

Thank you mate. This was my first and was meant to be a bit of practice but choosing a track with as little meaning possible I chose that one and the concept just grew. Next time I'll try not to overuse footage. I don't really like this video much now myself. I have since made a second one which is a bit better if you can access it on my account.
