DaizenshuuEX Movie Synopses

Post by Li'l Lemmy » Fri Nov 11, 2005 12:06 am

To Whom It May Concern:

The summaries posted in the Movie Guide are are concise, but I've noticed that a few features have much more detailed synopses of the events and plot. I enjoy these very much and wouldn't mind seeing more, as they have a certain professional polish and look very well done, but at the same time I imagine that its a fairly consuming project to put even one synopsis together, let alone supplement every summary with such a detailed breakdown. I'm sure finding that sort of time isn't at all easy.

On that note, I was wondering if outside submissions are ever accepted for review. I'd like to think I'm just fine with grammar and all, and could probably squeeze out a synopsis or two if it were helpful . . . however, since no two peoples' style of writing is exactly the same (meaning of course that you might prefer only yours), I'm not going to feel put out if the answer is no; I'm merely offering as a gesture, and because I don't know what policy has been established regarding this sort of thing.

(And, because it's fun! As I was watching Movie 10 earlier, I've provided a sample of my work.)

From somewhere within the deep vastness of space, a Saiyan space pod comes hurtling into the solar system and falls towards Earth, where it cuts a large crater into a desolate mountain range. The battered passenger has spilled out from the pod and onto the ground in an exhausted heap, the surrounding pit now aglow with an incredible energy, and with a mangled howl of pain Broly uses the last of his great strength to utter the name of "Kakarrot" onto the wind . . . and as that same cold wind picks up and blows about the snow of an oncoming storm, a sheet of ice forms over the impacted crater and seals the pod within, and with no power left to spare the Legendary Super Saiyan suddenly drifts into unconsciousness.

Seven years pass . . .

As he dashes through the highlands, little Goten scrambles after the two-star Dragonball as it goes tumbling over a plateau toward the oceans below. Trunks waits below and is sure to catch the ball, but the ball is instead sent flying when Videl makes a grab for it at the same time. As the two bicker amongst themselves, Goten calls out from high above that the ball has jumped up into one of a gaggle of bird's nests, and the three meet to add that ball to their waiting collection.

With six Dragonballs in their possession, Trunks and Goten ponder over exactly what they'll ask of the Eternal Dragon once they find the seventh. The adventurous Trunks wants an amusement park where everything is free, while a hungry Goten dreams of a land of cake and candy that will last forever. Videl has come along for the chance to see Shen Long with her own eyes, and suddenly the three are made to resume their quest when the birds who guard the nests angrily chase them off!

Bulma's Dragon Radar has picked up the location of the four-star ball, and soon the three friends find themselves on the outskirts of a small rabble of huts known as Natade Village. Videl takes notice of the number of natural gemstones that has cropped up near the villiage, but as she does, the two children go wandering off toward the village in search of something to eat and leave her to chase after them.

The group journeys into town just in time to see that some sort of bizarre ceremony is taking place. Atop a high pedestal, a young girl stands in silence as an eccentric prayergiver dances about to the words of a spell. With tears in his eyes the the village elder explains to Trunks, Goten and Videl that their unfortunate situation has left them with little choice; the young girl Cocoa is to become a sacrifice to appease a terrible monster that periodically comes down from the mountains to wreak havoc on the village. Videl is none too pleased with this superstitious solution and voices her disgust, but Trunks boldly offers to defeat the monster in exchange for the gaudy necklace of the prayergiver . . .

The following morning, several tables of sacrificial fruits and a large chamber pot appear waiting in the mountains. Videl sits hiding in the container along with Trunks and Goten as she listens for the monster, but the two boys listen instead to the growl of their empty stomachs and begin to whine. Trunks finally climbs up and reaches outside to grab an apple from the table . . . but as Goten goes to do the same, Videl smarts him a good one across the face to keep him in line, leading him to wail aloud. "Why did you only hit me?!" he cries out in shock. "It hurt, you know . . . it huuurt!!"

Goten's shrill cry carries through the mountains, and
. . .

Well, no need to post it all if I call this a "sample". Heh. You get the idea.

Oh, I love doing them... I just haven't had the time (as you've noted) lately. I might actually have one written up that I just haven't thrown online... that wouldn't surprise me.

And no, we wouldn't accept any kinds of submissions or alternate writings. They're long and detailed for a reason, and I wouldn't change anything about that :).

Thanks, though!

That's fine. It's sort of the answer I was expecting, EX, but I felt like I had to throw that out there anyway . . . and only because I enjoy the site itself, and particularly the style of it all. DaizenshuuEX does work just fine with only the two people, doesn't it?

Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on the "Staff Help Requests"!

(Li'l Lemmy, who just exists.)
