Where do people's original bodies go after being ressurected

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Where do people's original bodies go after being ressurected

Post by Nex Carnifex » Wed Aug 10, 2011 11:24 pm

This is my last topic for a while, I know I've made a lot I just have a lot of questions piled up and just now took the time to sign up for this forum. I know what happened to Goku's original body but what about other characters that died and were brought back? Like if Raditz were to be wished back, would his corpse suddenly regenerate or would he be made a new body?

If the body is destroyed, a new one is made. In DB Bulma made preservation chambers for the bodies of Roshi, Chaozu, and Kuririn, so I'm assuming that the Dragons may not patch up bodies that are intact.

Normally when a person is resurrected the dragon will fix up their body and revive them. This is true even in cases where the body was completely vaporized, such as Kuririn's when Freeza killed him (Porunga says he pulled his tattered body and clothes back together as a bonus or special service or whatever). If a person has their body while dead, they simply lose their halo. The only question left unanswered here is whether Piccolo, Yamcha, Tenshinhan and Chaozu had new bodies when they went to train under Kaio or whether Kami simply brought their bodies to the afterlife sometime after the battle with the Saiyans. I think the latter is more likely, personally; leaving corpses of people lying around is kind of messy.

While I agree their bodies were probably transferred from Earth to the afterlife at some point, there are still some potential problems with the theory.

First, wasn't is said that Bulma used the cryo-capsules to preserve the bodies of those killed during the battle with the Saiyans, and that they couldn't "find" Chaozu because they didn't know he 'espoded? That leaves most of the corpses in Bulma's possession, or maybe Roshi, who knows... but seeing how Kami was dead, does he still have dominion over Earth? Can he still pull strings for people despite the fact that he can't even actually watch over his planet? Can he call their corpses to the afterlife from the afterlife? If they were given new bodies, are their old ones still preserved in the capsules?

Lots of questions with no real answers...

The simplest explanation is that Kami had no reason to bring their bodies over right away. Yamcha explained that they met him in the afterlife and that he regenerated even Chaozu's body, so it seems plausible to me that he did it all some time after the battle, probably after they'd come up with the plan to go to Namek and revive everyone.

In the case of Kami and Piccolo after the Saiyan battle, I think they disappeared. If you watch from the time Piccolo dies to when Goku arrives and Vegeta reads his power as OVER 9000!, you'll notice that Piccolo is nowhere to be found. They either forgot to draw him in, or he really did vanish just like Kami did. I suppose this is plausible that he did disappear because he and Kami are connected...

I'm not sure about that. They ask where Chaozu's body is, but no one else's; if Piccolo's was also missing, you'd think they would have asked about that too.

You mean at the manga? It probably wasn't important to draw. When Vegeta killed Nappa you can still see Piccolo's body in the ground.

Anyway they preserved three bodies, this is, Yamcha, Tenshinhan and Piccolo.

I'm pretty sure when the Earthlings met Kami in the afterlife he arranged the bodies to be transported. Based on that Shenron comment, bodies aren't just copied they're reassembled from the original matter.
It would be a little bit creepy otherwise. Imagine how disturbing it would be for Yamcha to stumble upon that capsule while hanging out at Roshi's.
