Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Purchased the second Dragon Box and Dragon Ball Z Kai part 6 a few hours ago. I SERIOUSLY need income so I can snag the Dragon Boxes. I'm getting worried about them... Pretty excited to hear Dameon Clarke in uncut Kai though.

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Purchased the whole set of Hong Kong version (region 3) DBZ DVD today for a cheap price of 300HKD which is roughly about 39USD.

There are 11 Boxes and 37 DVDs in total (8 episodes per disc). The content is in 480i with both Cantonese and Japanese audio track as well as a "forced" Chinese subtitles stream.
As the owner of both the Japanese and American Dragon Boxes it is no doubt that the Dragon Box is a winner in terms on video quality. I purchased this set simply because I like the Cantonese Chinese dub better than the Japanese dub. Like others have mentioned, the audio quality of the Japanese dub on the Dragon Boxes sound muffled and bad due to the fact that Toei threw away the original audio masters. Thus, the Cantonese dub on this DVD set is clearly a winner in terms of audio quality (Funimation's English dub has way better sound quality than the Japanese dub, too).
The only two negative aspects of this set are that the DVDs are very slightly censored sometimes (due to the fact the Cantonese dub is censored) and the "forced" Chinese subtitles cannot be turn off without using a DVD player which is able to ignore User Operation Prohibition.

The box art looks pretty clean and simple.
I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.
Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
That looks pretty cool. I'd love if Funimation would release the Blu-Ray sets in a format like that.

Note that though, since Box 5 onwards the boxes were released in a completely different stylefunrush wrote:That looks pretty cool. I'd love if Funimation would release the Blu-Ray sets in a format like that.

The only difference I can see is that there is a huge picture on the front of the box as opposed to just black.jubei wrote:Note that though, since Box 5 onwards the boxes were released in a completely different stylefunrush wrote:That looks pretty cool. Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Well I bought this used set in person from a collector so I really have no idea whether there are any online stores still selling it.TheLegendary117 wrote: I really like those. Any chance you could share the link where you bought the full set from?
I just did a quick search on Yesasia and found that Box 1-11 are already out of print and discontinued:
http://www.yesasia.com/global/dragon-ba ... /info.html
What's more is that the 3-Box "Special" set (which is just putting the 37 DVDs into 3 Boxes meaning no more fancy DVD cases) seems to be discontinued as well:

That said though, I see people now selling used Box 1-4 from Yahoo! Auction Hong Kong and other boxes as well from time to time. I also happened to see a brick-and-mortar store selling a brand new box 8 last week when I was out there shopping
