DBZ #1 Japanese Region 2 release
My DVD finally arrived, which was ordered from Amazon JP. You guys that have the Dragon Boxes can compare with Disc 1. Here are some pictures I've taken and the captures are done with PowerDVD 6. It captures from orginal video source.

The cover insert has some info and bios of Goku and Raditz, in Japanese. The last 3 pictures are BMP files, so it may take some time to load.

I havent gotten the discs myself yet, as they came late and I must wait till monday to get them but I must give a gigantic OMG WTF to super Jewel cases. I fucking LOVE those things, and I am so insanely happy that DBZ will be using them. YEAH!
edit: I assume there wouldn't be any extras, as they'd be more or less clones of the Dragonbox discs.

I got some scans. The first one is inside the cover insert. The next ones are just things that I found inside the cover.

I edited the 3rd picture since there is some code that you input to get points at the jumpland site. Here's a couple more pics taken with my digital camera.

As opposed to FUNi's 3 episodes, who cares?Sun_Wukong wrote:Good god, 6 episodes per disk? How often are these coming out?

Er, no. I want it on DVD, I dont want to download it. Considering it's a full 45 minutes or so of animation, it'd make sense to give it a DVD release along with the singles. What'd stop them?Yi Xing Long wrote:Well you could just download the Playdia vids. I mean they are so friggen hard to find. I'm not sure if anyone translated them though. They are available on Bittorrent. The ONLY other place you can get them is the DragonBox. Good luck with that.
There isn't much worth translating. There's a bio of Goku, a bio of Raditz, and some quick DBZ facts (fact #1 - "A wish can be granted only once." and so on...). The stuff on the bottom left is instructions on how to use the menu, and the stuff on the right is a general warning about keeping the DVD safe.Dayspring wrote:Now if only someone would scanslate that... **whistles**
I'll get the menu shots in a moment. There's no need for cover shots because...well, there is no cover!Dan_the_Rebirth wrote:and can someone please post some menü and cover shots from the Dragonbox DVD #1?

You've *really* got the wrong site to have this discussion on, there, bud.Yi Xing Long wrote:They are available on Bittorrent.

Whoever has money for these DVDs, you should get them. Well, unless you have the Dragon Boxes... maybe. The casing and the cover art is great. The words DRAGONBALL Z and #1 on the front cover are done in reflective type of gold, which makes it look nice. I only planned on getting the ones with the great episodes, but now I may actually get every single one that comes out. Here you go, more captures from the DVD.

Unfortunately, they announced this series as a 49 disk release, which wouldn't include the 3 bonus disks. They might still collect the TV specials on a single disk and release it some time down the line, but at the moment there's no indication of them doing this.Magnaboss wrote:I'm hoping that the TV specials, at the very least, get a release. Playdia would also be nice, I mean, it's not like the Japanese DONT want to make money, right?
Anyways, although the packaging on these disks is friggin' beautiful, the menus are actually a step down. It looks like they took the layout of the Dragon Box menus, and then replaced the the background animation with a static image (what a bunch of cheapskates!

Here's the DBox main menu. There's a clip of Goku fighting Vegeta that plays in the background and in that square on the right. The menu audio is the audio from the fight. There's also a clip of Piccolo fighting imperfect Cell in the bottom left of the Scouter (where the smoke is), but the image of Goku and perfect Cell clashing is static.

The episode menus have a clip of Goku fighting Freeza playing in the background. The audio for the menu is the audio from the fight.

Just curious, but what are your impressions of the disk and the remastering? Definately worth it? Good, but not worth the money? Crappy? Just wondering.RC315 wrote:My DVD finally arrived, which was ordered from Amazon JP.
