If there is one thing Vegeta is best at is acting like a big man around someone shorter than he is.
Goku, Piccolo, Nappa, Radditz, Freeza, Cell, Trunks, Tien, and Yamcha are all taller than Vegeta....

10. Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan arrive on Namek. Bulma makes preparations and takes every safety precaution to make sure they have enough oxygen but as she is doing this, Krillin and Gohan are already out of the ship. This was one of the funniest scenes in Dragonball Z.

9. Krillin, Gohan, and Bulma hide in the cave because they sense Freeza and his henchman.

8. Goku arrives on Namek and takes care of the Ginyu Force.

7. Goku goes Super Saiyan

6. Vegeta gives the middle finger

5. Vegeta kills Cui

4. Vegeta beheads Guldo

3. Vegeta kills Dodoria

2. The chase between Zarbon, Vegeta and Krillin. Vegeta is flying after Krillin because he has the dragonball and Zarbon is chasing after Vegeta on Freeza's orders. So you have Krillin (completely good), then Vegeta (kind of good but mostly bad), then Zarbon (completely bad).

1. Vegeta steals Freeza's 5 Dragonballs.

My all time favorite scene in DBZ is when Goku helps Gohan with his Kamehameha from the afterlife at the end of the Cell Game. The recently deceased father encouraging his son to fulfill his destiny is so beautiful to me. It really encapsulates the entire theme of DB as I see it.

I remember back in the late 90s when the english dubbed DBZ was still in the Saiyan/Freeza arcs, I'd come across Toei portraits of Goku and Gohan's Father-Son Kamehameha. I thought to myself, "wow.. I can't wait until the North American audience gets to see this moment! " Sadly, when the time came; blech. I felt that it was an incredibly overrated moment, and that includes the entirety of the Cell Games.

As for my top 10 list on the best moments...I'll get around to that soon!

Anything that happened from King piccolo to the end of the freeza saga!
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Especially that little monologue Goku had when he was killing Boo, as it flashed back to Boo's prior battles. How cheeeeesy.

Hmm, there are a lot of moments in DBZ that I really love, as well as some from Dragonball, and GT. I'm a bit biased towards the Son family so expect a few cheesy moments in here. So, if I had to break them down into my top ten, well, then, I guess the list would go something like this:

1: Son Gohan goes SSJ2 (Japanese)
I love this scene. I heard people talking about it before it was aired in English so I actually found a clip of it in japanese. When the English dub came out, while I still liked the scene, it just wasn't the same without that damn music in the background. I love the close up on the teary eyes. I am actually intrigued to see what the english dub is like in Kai of this scene.

2: Son Gohan calls for his father after Goku dies with Cell(Either Version)
I'll admit it, this scene always gets me a little teary eyed. I really like the scene where Goku instant transmits Cell away and dies, especially his little speech to Gohan before hand. But, it's actually the eerie silence then Gohan's scream across the empty battlefield that drives it home to me.

3: Son Goku tears after Piccolo's minions after Krillin is killed. (Either Version)
I know I'm going all theway back to Dragonball here but I really like this scene. It's the first time I remember seeing rage on Goku's face. The way he just takes the radar and tears after his opponent with no thought whatsoever regarding if he can even beat him, just running on pure anger and grief. Really was a big development on his and Krillin's relationship, at least to me.

4: The entire battle against Qi Xing Long after Pan was absorbed (either version)
Yes, it appears I'm one of those few that actually like GT. I personally love this episode, even though Pan tends to annoy me. The challenge Goku was faced with, fight to his full extent and possibly kill his only grandchild or to leave her absorbed was very intriguing to me. We saw a little of this in the Cell saga, when Gohan and Goku were training in the Time Chamber and Gohan informed his father that he was too soft to be a good teacher with him, because he didn't want to hurt him. I think we see that to a full extent here and it's actually an interesting psychological question.

5: Piccolo sacrifices himself to save Gohan. (Either Version)
I can't NOT put this one up here. I really love this scene, whether it be english, japanese, whether it be kai or original. The emotional intensity behind it...the reincarnated demon king giving his life to save a small child, which he had originally set out to mold into his image. Just..volumes of character development in that one action.

6: Son Goten meets his father. (Either Version)
I think the dialogue works in either version but I think the majority of this scene is the animated facial expression and body language. Goku's stunned look when he first sees Goten then Gotne's pause before running to him. I love it. It's sappy and sweet and I love it.

7: Vegeta's Sacrifice to Buu (Either Version)
I persoanlly usually watch this in English but I can enjoy it either way. I love Vegeta's little talk with Trunks before hand. Then, of course, there's his inquiry to Piccolo about the afterlife and he's essentially told he won't earn any special priviledges but will be cleansed and reincarnated. Vegeta's rather nonchalant response before he decides it's worth it anyway...such a huge change from the villain we met at the beginning of the Saiyan saga.

8: Future Gohan dies in Future Trunks' Time (English)
I actually prefer this in english, mainly because of the background music. I like the Japanese music but I think the english is more haunting and in a way, more depressing. So, it really fits the scene well. The voice acting is good in both versions. Trunks' grief, anger and desperation really plays out here, much better than in the manga in my opinion.

9: Days of Rest before the Cell Games (Either Version)
I love these episodes. It's nice to see Goku's family actually being a family instead of so focused on the battles. My favorites remain Gohan's little birthday celebration, I think all those snapshots, the interactions between all involved are just great.

10: Goku's Battle Against Gohan in Movie 3 (English)
I know I'm probably the weirdo who prefers the Funi english dub of this scene, considering it is so different from the Japanese but I just like it. Goku's attempt to get through to Gohan, his little speeches against Turles and finally him cutting off his son's tail and catching him. I love the scenes where you see Fatherly-Goku and this one remains one of my favs.

If we're just talking about Z here than this is my list (I narrowed it down to 5):

5. Vegeta vs Goku (or to be more specific the Kamehameha vs. the Garlic Gun)
4. Vegeta slaps Goku - When I first saw this I squealed with utter joy.
3. Vegeta's midlife crisis (Basically when he admits that he comes in second behind Goku and he actually likes his family)
2. Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time
1. Really just anything with Vegeta in it.

I'm gonna be totally honest. I only saw the first two linked videos on the first post...because the 1st wasn't working...then i knew what the videos were gonna be like.
I cannot understand for the life of me why they replaced "number one" with "the best" in that dub, but this is what it reminded me of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fWvub_WBho

My top ten moments.

10. Piccolo killing Raditz and Goku in one shot/Goku's death.

9. Tinshinhan's death in the Sayajin saga.

8. Gohan lets rip at Frieza after Kuririn gets gored. Of special not is his ki-blast punch to the face.

7. Ressurection of Kuririn following Frieza saga.

6. Kamehameha vs. Garlic Gun

5. Vegeta's death and burial following being killed by Frieza.

4. Vegeta's final flash.

3. Frieza meets trunks, laughs at him, then gets destroyed. Brilliant moment with great "wtf is happening? value on first viewing.

2. Goku goes Super Saiyajin after Kuririn is killed + his following speech to Frieza.

1. Gohan defeats Cell with help from Goku and the rest of the Z fighters.

And then the #1 spot went to...'Over 9,000'. Gah! I mean, I don't hate the meme like some do, but seriously?

I haven't really thought up my own take on a top ten list yet, but at least a few of what would go on mine did make this list, such as Trunks taking down Freeza and Goku's first SS transformation. I also would have opted for the Genki Dama that takes out Boo, personally.

Honorable mention: Gogeta kills Janemba after kicking his ass
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
