Dragon Box Vol. 7 Discussion
Re: Dragon Box Vol. 7 Discussion
Someone on this forum pointed this out a while back. From the disc art: ©BIRD STUDIO/SHUEISHA... All rights reserved. Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and all logos... Well what about Dragon Ball (with no letter suffixes?) It wasn't included because there is no content from the original 153 episode show (no, flashbacks don't count.) So why is GT included? Well this person suggested that maybe the next episode preview for GT episode one will be tacked on to its rightful place at the end of Z episode 291. I always thought it was an interesting theory. Maybe I can find his original quote...

I said something like this before, it's a little fishy that they'd bring up GT in the copyright, unless there's some crazy law I don't know about.Zestanor wrote:Someone on this forum pointed this out a while back. In reply to the folks who keep mentioning the copyrights mention on the DVD I want to make a clarification. I am by no means any kind of legal expert of these things such as copyrights or trademarks but I did pay attention to the legal information on FUNi's site where they mention the copyrights of each one of their licensed properties. Well it so happens that since DBZ and DBGT are trademark for Toei since the original source material didn't used such titles only those two series posses such attention to trademarks on their copyrights info. (Confusing isn't it?
It's hard for me to follow since I wouldn't necessarily know how is the correct terminology for such stipulations) Well that would exclude the original DB title for trademark due to that being in fact legally own by Bird Studio/Shueisha such a stipulation on that series doesn't mention that Toei owns any sort of trademark on the name. You can look for it on this link so folks who might be interested in this little mystery can see for themselves. I kind of think my hypothesis would be a correct assertion would you guys say?

Oddly, in the GT copyright, it says "Dragon Ball GT and all logos, character names and distinctive likenesses thereof are trademarks of TOEI ANIMATION.", but the Z and (Z) Kai rights say "Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and all logos, character names and distinctive likenesses thereof are trademarks of SHUEISHA, INC.".dragonfist wrote:In reply to the folks who keep mentioning the copyrights mention on the DVD I want to make a clarification. Well, yeah, GT is an original creation of Toei, where as Z and Kai are based on the manga Shuiesha has the rights to.Son Satan wrote:Oddly, in the GT copyright, it says "Dragon Ball GT and all logos, character names and distinctive likenesses thereof are trademarks of TOEI ANIMATION.", but the Z and (Z) Kai rights say "Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and all logos, character names and distinctive likenesses thereof are trademarks of SHUEISHA, INC.".dragonfist wrote:In reply to the folks who keep mentioning the copyrights mention on the DVD I want to make a clarification. It's not that, that's what the copyright link was posted for initially, that Z and GT are name copyrighted by Toei. What I find odd is that in the Z and Kai copyright, it says that Z and GT are trademarks of Shueisha.Great Saiyaman I wrote:Well, yeah, GT is an original creation of Toei, where as Z and Kai are based on the manga Shuiesha has the rights to.Son Satan wrote: Oddly, in the GT copyright, it says "Dragon Ball GT and all logos, character names and distinctive likenesses thereof are trademarks of TOEI ANIMATION.", but the Z and (Z) Kai rights say "Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and all logos, character names and distinctive likenesses thereof are trademarks of SHUEISHA, INC.".

Is there an episode preview at the end of 291 for GT?

Yes, there's also one at the end of DB for DBZ, and one at the end of Dr. Slump for DB.bone1994 wrote:Is there an episode preview at the end of 291 for GT?

You sure the question wasn't meant to be interpreted as "Is that one on this Box?"The Time Traveller wrote:Yes, there's also one at the end of DB for DBZ, and one at the end of Dr. Slump for DB.bone1994 wrote:Is there an episode preview at the end of 291 for GT?
Although,it's not like there's a way we'd know that yet anyhow.

Re: Dragon Box Vol. 7 Discussion
It looks more like he's just asking if there's an episode preview for GT at the end of Z, it makes sense that there would be, and it's stupid if it's not included.KiddoCabbusses wrote:Although,it's not like there's a way we'd know that yet anyhow.
Re: Dragon Box Vol. 7 Discussion
I agree it would be stupid not include agree though in fairness it stupid they not putting TV specials on volume 7. They were included on Japanese Dragon Box I believe can someone back me up on that one?

Re: Dragon Box Vol. 7 Discussion
Including it would be a deviation from the original JP Z Boxes, as the GT ep 1 NEP was included as a "bonus" in GT's Box, not the Z Boxes. The Time Traveller wrote:It looks more like he's just asking if there's an episode preview for GT at the end of Z, it makes sense that there would be, and it's stupid if it's not included.
Re: Dragon Box Vol. 7 Discussion
So if Dr. Slump had a preview for Dragon Ball, then there must have been a preview for the Dr. Slump remake on Episode 64 of GT

Re: Dragon Box Vol. 7 Discussion
There are no Episode previews in the last episodes on Japanese Dragon Boxes. So I doubt there will be any on US ones.
Absence of Japanese extra si really awful. I understand these comments that it's for US audience and they have no need or value for Japanese commercials and such. But that's little off, when I buy Star Wars the original trilogy with extras, there are also cinema and tv trailers I have no need for, because they were never shown in cinemas or TV in my country.
But I like to have them and it's interesting to have stuff like that.
AS EVERYTIME, BE IT MANGA OR ANIME, WE NEVER GET THE DEFINITIVE RELEASE OF WHAT IS STANDARD FOR JAPANESE FANS!!!! And it's gradually pissing me off.
I played those old famicon games and I will really like to see those commercials.
PS: My only message for Funimation will be one funsub inspired..... ''Definitive release my ass''

Hoping that Box 7 will include the extras from the Japanese DVDs. Also when I finally have all 7 I am going to put them all in a group caress them and quot Ocean Freeza but replace balls with boxes.
