What's your favourite beam attack?
For me it's the Masenko, I like the way it is charged and the cool purple hue it gives to the background (although technically that applies to almost all of Piccolo's signature attacks).
It's also really versatile, although the Kamehameha has been used in different ways (eg Goku using it from his feet to move quickly) it's only real offensive use is the standard single forward beam. Masenko is purely offensive and has cool variations.
I also believe it's the only beam attack to be consistently the correct colour in the video games.

Final Flash. It's awesome. The part where it's used is awesome. In anime even more awesome.

Makankosappo. I love its unique look.
Oh, and the Devilmite Beam, if that counts.

The Makankosappo. There's nothing else quite like it that I've seen. Generic beam attacks are pretty much everywhere. But the Makankosappo has a really unique look about it with the spiral around the beam. Overall, it's just a great looking attack, even if it takes an impractical amount of time to charge.

Final Kamehameha. I just love the way it's done in the games. The fiery "Final Flash"-parts charging in both hands and merging them with the blue Kamehameha.

Death beam, I love how you use it by pushing one finger forward like you are poking a hole in someone, and its so easy to use to the point Frieza uses it in rapid succession to completely light up enemies.

Makankosappo, definitely. (Though it does get stuck with pretty much the most embarrassing English dub name, and one of the few that I actually will not use despite otherwise not caring much about dub name changes.)

And it was only used once...... or twice, against Nappa, I don't remember....
Out of curiosity, does Piccolo himself ever use the Masenko?

Re: What's your favourite beam attack?
My favourite beam attack is the Makankosappo too, for the same reason that Kiyza stated (as well as its drilling nature, and the fact that its name still alludes to his demonic nature), although I think that the reason it took an impractical amount of time to charge during the Raditz battle was because Piccolo hadn't perfected yet. Since Piccolo said that he'd developed the technique to kill Goku, I don't think he's stupid enough to think that he'd be able to get Goku to hold still while he stood there charging his attack, when he asked Raditz to stall him while he gathered the ki.
I think that the Makankosappo-esque blast we saw him use against Nappa was an incorporation of his Makankosappo that he had perfected in the year training for the Saiyans.
I'm not sure whether he uses it in the anime, though.

In the manga, we never see Piccolo use the Masenko, although in Daizenshuu 7, it's listed as one of his special attacks and it's stated that Piccolo taught Gohan the technique.Michsi wrote:Out of curiosity, does Piccolo himself ever use the Masenko?

Re: What's your favourite beam attack?
Actually, King Piccolo used the Masenko in Dragon Ball, but differently. He fired a weak blast before it as a distraction so that the Masenko would hit.
Anyway, I think the blast Piccolo used against Nappa is the perfect Makankosappo, I totally agree with you Piccolo Daimao. Against Raditz he did say it wouldn't take so long if he had the other arm, so I always assumed it was supposed to be a two handed technique. Plus, it makes the technique much more interesting to me if it has such two different styles to it. We really need the perfect Makankosappo.
My favorite beam technique is probably Atomic Blast/Final Impact though.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

That's the Makosen. Herms corrected me before.Saiga wrote:Actually, King Piccolo used the Masenko in Dragon Ball, but differently. He fired a weak blast before it as a distraction so that the Masenko would hit.
Herms wrote:That attack is actually the Makosen ("Demon Beam"), which is similiary named to the Masenko (it's the exact same kanji in a different order), but still a different attack.SHINOBI-03 wrote:I think I heard somewhere that the Masneko is the attack used by Piccolo Daimaoh with two hands. one to distract Goku and the other to shoot him offguard ((even though it looks just like a regular Ki blast))

I've always had a soft spot for the x10 Kamehameha from GT, especially the kickass-looking red version.

Re: What's your favourite beam attack?
My favourite beam attack is Gekiretsu Kodan and Shin Kikoho.
Re: What's your favourite beam attack?
Special Beam Cannon and the Double Sunday. And kinda like that prototype Final Flash Vegeta used on Recoome.
Re: What's your favourite beam attack?
Actually, Piccolo fires a similar beam against Nappa when he and Kuririn are trying to take him down (when Gohan freezes). But he uses two hands instead and the beam is bigger.Kiyza wrote:The Makankosappo. There's nothing else quite like it that I've seen.
My favorite would be Dodon pa, since it's so badass and "assassiny", like Freeza's finger beam.
Re: What's your favourite beam attack?
Kikoho, Shin Kikoho, Dodon-pa, Makankosappo, Gekiretsu Kodan, Makosen, Hell's flash and Final Flash are all my favourites.

Re: What's your favourite beam attack?
Is Kikoho really a "beam"? But I guess I'm being needlessly picky if I ask that...
I like when the beams come out of people's mouths. There's just something really funny about that.
