Are the Funimation releases updated with the old music?

Post by INVINCEABLE » Sat Aug 27, 2011 5:10 am

I haven't been following Kai lately. I read something about the music being changed. I only own the first volume on BD, which I guess has the first release music. The volumes that are out now, have they been replaced to include the old DBZ music?

Every Kai home release in the US has contained the replacement score by Shunsuke Kikuchi since Part Five was released. The old releases, however, still contain Yamamoto's original Kai score.
FUNimation will be re-releasing Kai starting with the "Season One" (Parts One and Two combined) boxset, which will contain the replacement score.
So mondo lame.

Thanks for the quick response. Just ordered volumes 2-4 before they get discontinued.

Funi will not rerelease Parts 1-4 with the Kikuchi music. http://daizex.fanboyreview.net/viewtopi ... 16&t=17546 Also, I wouldn't worry about them being discontinued, I'm pretty sure they'll continue releasing the 13-ep sets.

That's an old response. They have since said that they're re-releasing the previously-released episodes with the Kikuchi music mix rather than the Yamamoto music mix.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Do you mean they're releasing the 13-ep sets again or are you talking about the season sets? If you are talking about the 13-ep sets, then where did you hear about it from?

Oh, okay, no, we're on the same page. I just got confused by the way you worded it. No, they are not re-releasing the previously released episodes with the new Kikuchi mix specifically in the 13-episode format. The 26-episode season sets will contain the new Kikuchi mix.

All released Kai volumes on Blu-ray are priced under $16 right now at Amazon. Ordered the 3 volumes a few days ago, which came to under $63. After getting a price adjustment, it is now under $48.
