Extras or no extras, I'm just happy Funimation released the Dragon Boxes which itself was a surprise. Now if only they can get their hands on Dr. Slump and Arale-chan and Sailor Moon, I'll totally be in heaven. :P

Personally, I'm hoping more for the rest of Dragon Ball first. Not that I wouldn't love those too, but DBZ without the others (especially the original series) just feels so incomplete to me.
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

I'm with you on that. It sounds awfully cheeky to say "Here are the Z Dragon Boxes! If you want the show from the beginning get the blue bricks." Come October we should hopefully have a better idea of where things are headed.

The thing is though, DBZ had a reason to get the Dragon Box masters because of the season set footage. Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT and the rest of the movies have less of a reason because they got it right the first time around; movies in widescreen, and Dragon Ball and GT in 4x3. If they release Dragon Boxes for those two as well, kudos to them, but I'm not going to rebuy them again because I have a lesser reason to unlike DBZ's season sets.

True, that may be the case. But the other Dragon Boxes are still Dragon Ball material. And I can't imagine FUNi willingly leaving any stone unturned when it comes to their cash cow. I can't imagine the FUNimation we know saying, "Let's not release this because people will not want to double dip."

In an odd way, FUNi kind of tied my hands for me. While I avoided buying the orange bricks for obvious reasons, the reason I haven't bought any of the blue or green bricks yet is specifically because I'm waiting out possible Dragon Box announcements.

Toriyama's manga before Dragon Ball which made him quite popular. If you watched Dragon Ball, remember when Goku and this girl fought against Commander Blue of the Red Ribbon Army?
Well, that's Arale "daughter" of the one and only Dr. Slump, or Senbei Norimaki. Its a hilarious, if you find poop jokes and random movie humor funny, manga/series/series.

Oh, well I generally don't, but I might look into it if it's Dragon Ball related. Anything else I should know about ???

If you like the humor in Dragon Ball, you'll love the comedy in Dr. Slump and Arale-chan however comedy in that series goes on 24-7. Dr. Slump and the original Dragon Ball are my favorite works of Toriyama. Thing is though that the series has never gotten a proper release in North America. Spain however has a 12 episode DVD Box sets of it, though and of course there's the expensive Japan imports.

Yea, it was dubbed and aired on North American television in the late 80's but it was never released on VHS.

Not unless you find someone who recorded the dubbed episodes.

You can read the comic in English. They're hard to find, though. Try eBay or go to an anime convention.

The only officially released dub material of Dr. Slump is from the Dragon Ball season sets which is episode 53-55, I believe and I thought the voices are very good, except King Nikochan's servant. The Spanish Boxset however has a very accurate Spanish dub if you're fluent or studying Spanish. The manga isn't hard to find on Amazon, they still sale them brand new.

I've been looking in to it. I have one question, and I can't find the answer anywhere. I read that there were two releases of the series. One called Dr. Slump Arale and one just called Dr. Slump. Could somebody tell me the differences ???

Dr. Slump and Arale-chan is pretty much like an adaptation of the manga with much more old school animation and was made from 1981-1984. Dr. Slump (90's) is like a reanimated version of the show however I personally haven't seen that version.

Would the Spanish releases be the ones from the 80's or the 90's?

Those sets are from the '80's show ( Dr. Slump and Arale-chan).
