Raditz seems a little OOC, but then again he is a kid here.

Yeah I agree. Despite being a kid (pre 10 years old?) I still cannot imagine a saiyan kid shortening his brother's name in such a cutesy way. I always imagine. Unless it was meant as mockery . . . or they were dropped into a ravine head firstkaialone wrote:Raditz seems a little OOC, but then again he is a kid here.

Pardon me for asking if this has already been answered but what vegetable pun is being used with Hanasia?
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
What strikes me as most OOC are those eyes, strangely enough. They seem closer to Goku's and his sons eyes, than father's and the rest of the saiyans.

No there is not, even Salagir said it. He thought it was cool (though it's awful for me).Maphisto86 wrote:Pardon me for asking if this has already been answered but what vegetable pun is being used with Hanasia?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Still I love what Goku and Raditz's mom says about scouters and the numbers. Some people in the comments claim that Hanasia's character design is too "feminine" or pretty for a saiyan but I disagree. I mean Selypa was pretty too and the design here for Goku and Raditz's mom takes some design cues from both Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru's and Akira Toriyama's designs for what would become Selypa. The "skirt" is reminicent of Nakatsuru's design for "Korn". Hanasia's design also reminds me of BK-81's own "Goku Mom" design here.

Yeah, even WE still do the puns when we're naming character who aren't originally named. =DMaphisto86 wrote:Love the character design but c'mon. Every red blooded Dragonball fan should continue Toriyama-sama's silly pun names.

I have to agree the female drawn was badly drawn. Its like a clash of styles in that page.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
The artist doing this comic special assists Gogeta Jr with the main comic or so I hear. I don't think Hanasia was "badly drawn" in general but the artwork so far has not been as good as Gogeta Jr in mimicking Mr.Toriyama's style. I guess it is easier for the artist of this special to draw canon characters as they appeared in Dragonball, using the manga and anime material as a reference.Saimaroimaru wrote:I have to agree the female drawn was badly drawn. -A Saiyan not named after a vegetable
-A Saiyan saying numbers don't matter
-Raditz acting like Goten
-Bardock has the scar but (apparently) not the vision powers.
Meh.

What does the scar have to do with the visions? The special hasn't gotten to the visions yet.Rocketman wrote: -Bardock has the scar but (apparently) not the vision powers.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
He got the scar during the purge of Planet Kanassa that was shown in the beginning of the special - when he turned into an ape.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

No, that was Pumbukin. Bardock had his scar from the beginning. I actually had to check for that recently for some reason.jjgp1112 wrote:He got the scar during the purge of Planet Kanassa that was shown in the beginning of the special - when he turned into an ape.

Exactly. Not sure where you got the idea it was Bardock since we see his crew mate actually tending to his facial wound, if memory serves me right.Kaboom wrote:No, that was Pumbkin. Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I am with you on critique number #1 and #3 but the other two are not an issue. As noted it is not clear that Bardock got those scars during his attack on Kanassa. Also this seems to be an alternate timeline from the one we saw in the Bardock special. Perhaps Bardock either didn't go to Kanassa or did and wiped out all of the planet's inhabatants so that one survivor did not give Bardock said clairvoyance abilities. Or he has not had one of those "mind trips" yet in this story.Rocketman wrote:-A Saiyan not named after a vegetable

As for Hanasia stating "numbers don't matter" she is just voicing an opinion Vegeta holds later in the Namek saga. It is possible not all saiyans or other fighters of the planet trade took scouter data at face value or were even skeptical about "power levels" being a good measurement of a person's or creature's abilities.

There is no Hanasia. I'm just going to call her "Tanip."
