Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Recently bought VIZBIG Dragon Ball Z vol.5-6. For some reason, those two volumes seem to be going out of print. :/ Thankfully I found copies of them though.
- Been a Dragon Ball fan ever since 1995 (at the time, I was 7 years old).
- I prefer Saffron Henderson's Kid Gohan and Kid Goku over Stephanie Nadolny's.
- I still hope for a redub of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z with FUNimation's current cast.
- I prefer to watch Dragon Ball Z with the Faulconer Score, however I do not mind the original Japanese score.

For the love of god, redlinks, tell me where you get those two volumes! Also, have you seen DB vol. 5?

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Found them at a local anime store. Their store isn't very popular so they have a lot of out of print/old manga releases. I got extremely lucky with these since they only had one copy left of each. ^^; I have not seen DB vol.5 anywhere (thankfully, I have a copy). It seems to be out of print also.ManyFaces wrote:For the love of god, redlinks, tell me where you get those two volumes! Also, have you seen DB vol. 5?

That's the official VIZ online store, btw.
EDIT: I only now noticed the outregous prices

Just wait until they release more copies of the volumes.

Haha if I'm going to be paying $6,282.34 for a manga, then I most certainly will not be paying $4.49 shipping! Thats preposterous!rereboy wrote:EDIT: I only now noticed the outregous prices. I know that these are actually sold by a third party but geez... Talk about overpriced.

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Man, you're lucky. I bought all the available VizBigs a few weeks ago when I found out Rightstuf was getting a shipment in of said volumes. I called and emailed them and they said they would get it. NOPE! The other day I get one of their stupid "We're working on it" emails, so I call them up and customer service rep. says they never got the shipment. So now I'm missing three volumes. I've already scoured the net, having looked at twenty-plus websites, and my local bookstores. I thought all hope was lost until this morning: I found them for under $20 a pop! However, only one volume has the in-stock tab -- the others have a "Ship in 2-5 business days" tab, which is weird 'cause most sites state several weeks when they're backordered. Doesn't bother me, though, since I'll at least get one volume.redlinks wrote:Found them at a local anime store. Their store isn't very popular so they have a lot of out of print/old manga releases. Yeah. I did get lucky. ^^; Glad you were able to find the remaining 3 for a reasonable price! Nice collection btw! Here's all the VIZBIGs I have. I just need the last 3 of DBZ to complete mine! I will order them all from amazon as soon as I receive my next paycheck. Then I plan to read the entire series all the way through. Will be my first time too even though I've been a fan of the series for over 15 years. xDManyFaces wrote:Man, you're lucky. Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Wait, my question is that why does Viz even allow those prices?
I guess this means I could sell my DBZ VizBig Vol.5 for $1500, and it'd be a damn good deal. Any takers?

I've never read the series either and I've been a fan since '98/'99; kind of sad that I'm just now getting around to doing it. I plan on reading the first four volumes when I'm out in the woods doing my Annual Training for the Army National Guard. Reading 'em while I'm out there is going to make the drill far more entertaining.redlinks wrote:Yeah. I did get lucky. ^^; Glad you were able to find the remaining 3 for a reasonable price! You would think Viz would take that down and just say its out-of-print. I know one of their staff has seen that outrageous price; it can't be that they haven't seen it yet. What I really want to know is what kind of person tries to sell a Viz volume -- that's two years old -- for over six grand? Dude's a douchebag for sure.metamoss wrote:Wait, my question is that why does Viz even allow those prices?

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Nice! I started reading Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z when VIZ came out with the monthy comic issues back around 1998. I watched the anime back in '96 when the VHS's came out. But yeah, the dude is a douche and is totally ripping people off. Hopefully VIZ will reprint them soon so that those outrageous prices will drop down. It's seriously ridiculous what they're going for right now.ManyFaces wrote:I've never read the series either and I've been a fan since '98/'99; kind of sad that I'm just now getting around to doing it. Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Ok I'm sort of new when it comes to the manga, but I would like to know if all of those Visbigs are still available. If so, then where can I find them? Are these the best release of the manga? I don't necessarily mean the most rare or whatever I just want to know if they are uncut and unedited. If these are no longer available, what would be my best bet? I want to own the manga uncut and unedited (and in English). If someone could please enlighten me I would be very grateful, thanks!
Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?
Overall, the Vizbigs are better than the regular release. They have better paper quality, they are cheaper and they have most of the original color pages of the manga printed in the original color.DanielGClapp wrote:Ok I'm sort of new when it comes to the manga, but I would like to know if all of those Visbigs are still available. For full reviews go here:

- http://daizex.fanboyreview.net/viewtopi ... 105&hilit=
However, some volumes of the Vizbig seem to be sold out so you will have a hard time collecting all of them. Also, some people prefer the regular release since the volumes aren't so big and the covers are nicer, so there is room for different preferences.
Anyway, if you want to buy the manga, right now your best bet are the manga box sets:
- http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Box-V ... 197&sr=1-1

- http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Box-V ... 197&sr=1-2

There are pretty nice and cheaper than if you bought all the volumes individually. Not as cheap as the Vizbig though.
Of course you can always wait for the sold out Vizbigs to become available again and buy the Vizbigs.
