Re: Dragon Ball Guilty Pleasures
I can only think of one guilty pleasure for me, which would be the ending song from the Funimation movie singles. Although I don't particularly like Funimation's dub of Z anymore, I do still like this song. Always made me sad that the movie was over:

Fan Fiction. What can I say, some of them are actually very good reads.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Seriously though, I actually really like the Nathan Johnson score. I usually don't even watch the dub, but I'm thinking about watching through episodes 1-67 dubbed when I get the Blu-Ray sets.

The (FUNI) dub for the Garlic jr Saga.
Re: Dragon Ball Guilty Pleasures
The Yamamoto Kai score... I prefer it to the Kikuchi score, at least as far as Kai is concerned...
Don't get me wrong, I loves me some Kikuchi, but I like Yamamoto a lot...

I wouldn't say that Yamamoto's score is a guilty pleasure. I mean, I think a majority of us would agree that, even though it may have been complete rips off of other people's music, that score was extremely well suited for Kai.DemonRin wrote:The Yamamoto Kai score... I love the Saban era of DBZ. Henderson I think, has been the best Gohan out of them all (in English) .redlinks wrote:I guess for me, it's the ocean dub of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. I mean, How could you not love Saffron Henderson as kid Goku and Kid Gohan? She makes them sound so adorable!
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

I actually like the name Herrcule.
I understand why Toriyama named the character Mr. Satan, but I personally feel that the 'H' word is a better fit for the over-the-top 'strongest man in the universe'-like goofiness of the character (I would've been bursting out laughing had they literally referred to the character as 'Hercules').

Sorry to double post, but...
Oh, and some more:
I personally prefer Scott McNeil's Piccolo over Chris Sabat's, but Chris Sabat nailed it when he did the voice for King Piccolo.
And some not-so-guilty pleasures:
1. I much prefer the gameplay style of Super Dragon Ball Z over the other games.
2. Mike MacFarlane makes Kamesenin/Master Roshi so much more enjoyable.
3. Bruce Falcouner is a pretty good composer, and I probably would've enjoyed his stuff more had his equipment not sounded like some old archaic Casio keyboard from the 1980's.
4. The Pioneer/Geneon release of World's Strongest is the best English dub of DBZ ever (actually, I don't feel that guilty about saying this...just a little opinionated - please don't hurt me! Not trying to start anything.
).
General anime guilty pleasure:
If the dub is really good and accurate, I will watch that first instead of watching it subbed.

The german dub.
Also I like Babidi and I was kinda sad when he died.
And I´d love to see a Dragonball Evolution sequel, just to see how they´d handle it.

Gurd's voice in DB Kai.
The awful Shatner-like Vegeta acting in the early season 3 episodes.
Having old Z dub/Faulconer score lovers curse at me in YouTube comments and insist that Kai's dub is horrible.
SSJ Goku's cliche ally of justice speech to Freeza in the old Z dub. Goku wondering if the heart medicine that's supposed to save his life is "grape flavored."

Hércule is literally the French name for "Hercules," and FUNimation just directly copied that without doing any research.capnbarfy wrote:I actually like the name Herrcule.

The Portuguese and Spanish (Spain) dubs DID call him Hercules.

I personally love the music in Final Bout and the game does have some nostalgia to me since I first play it back in 2001 or 2002. I do love the voice acting since they are so bad that they are always fun to laugh at.

Re: Dragon Ball Guilty Pleasures
I guess my gulity pleasures are watching Dragon Ball Kai with its English dub. I remember back when I first got into DBZ in '09 how I watched the dub and liked it then but then one day I watched the sub version and immediately noticed how off it was and since then wanted an accurate dub for Z. Kai may be a curse or a blessing for some, but to me, it's blessing due to it's dub and its faster pacing. Having the Kikuchi score with the dub is the icing on the cake since the dub pretty much replaces the old dub for me. I also find it amusing how people used to bash on Yamamoto and after the music scandal happened, people suddenly love him. I like the score myself, but it could be underwhelming at times, maybe because of the bad placement or something.

I've always had a big soft spot for the name 'Turles'. Thurles is the next town over from my hometown. The idea that it would threaten the world never seemed out of place to me.

Re: Dragon Ball Guilty Pleasures
- I like DBZ Movie 4.
- I liked almost every DBZ game (playing them is like a yearly holiday tradition in my household)
- I like some of the Shuki Levy/Faulconer Productions tracks
- I like the "real bands" in DBZ Movie 8, even though it's almost entirely unfitting.
- I like parts of GT.
- The cropping of the Season Sets didn't bug me as much as the horrid video transfer. (Disappearing outlines and facial features is quite the fuck-up.)

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
